Averaging 40 in FC Cricket....

LBW375 2019-12-20 13:06:10

Checking England A vs South Africa A, randomly clicking on names

Lots of batsmen in South Africa's FC system average 40 and above with 15+ tons and nuff 50s

Our boys debut averaging 30 with 4 tons.

30 sinting players will more often than not fail at the test level

Quality cricket, you cannot have teenage cricketers playing in your regional s and expect your 1st class system to be great.
Occasionally you will schedule matches with the emerging and u23 , however these teams should engage other international teams , only the best from these teams should advance to the regionals teams.
We need to arrange tours in the off season, there was a time when a club from Bim would tour Yard or Bim would sent a B to Trinidad to tour for a week or 2, their teams would have 4 to 5 youngsters in the team, they gain experience and were more prepared.

Would T20 help you in test cricket.?

Pitches is part of the problem. I'm sure if the pitches were better to bat on, people would be averaging slightly better. We've seen when the Super 50 pitches are good for batting, local batsmen are cashing in.

Music Man believes T20 cricket is the future and has embraced it.

Difficult to argue as T20 has persisted while test is on life support.

Windies players FC averages are often low because they don't play as much and they often start young so their initial 2 or 3 years average always gives a low base. Also Windies wickets are not conducive to high averages. Conversley Windies bowlers all have very good FC averages.

Have you checked England's batting FC batting averages? Some of them surprisingly low.
