Our batting for the most part clicked in the ODIs and there is reason to be optimistic about our future there , I am however concerned about our bowling, I would love to see Narine in the mix for both ODI and T20 , but is there anyone from the Super50 who can come in and add value from outside the squad ?
Bravo was asked to asked to make runs , he has come back with a little fire in his eye and for the most part done what was requested of himm, however looking at the batters in the squad , I don't think anyone has been proven a failure enough warrant a change.
drop Ambris from the 14
In reply to Str8_Drive
You will not see anything on willow until the day before the series start
In reply to silver
thanks , ok I will hold tight ( I am new to watching cricket on a legit site )
In reply to Barry
Ambris cannot get dropped just suh ,,, the man has not been given a proper run and has done well at every level before this.
I like Ambris because he is one of those busy players that we NEED ,, he does not smash the ball around but has a high stike rate through getting singles/twos and running hard. WI does not have many players like this.
We need to work on developing Ambris ( and or players generally ).
More to come from Abris I think !
Hope Harding gets in the mix
Keiron Pollard did well but he may have reached that Devon Smith designation...idk
In reply to Oilah
RE Keiron Powell, that sojourn into baseball hurt his development.
Hopefully he can excel in some A team tours and make a case for himself.
who is Sheeno Berridge I missed the super50 ?
I was hoping he was a young upcoming gun ,, but seems like he is almost 30 bowling military medium according to cricinfo.
West Indies
Full name Sheeno Berridge
Born September 27, 1990, St. Kitts
Current age 29 years 90 days
Major teams Leeward Islands, St Kitts & Nevis
Batting style Right-hand bat
Bowling style Right-arm medium
sheeno should become the first player from st kitts to represent the WI
In reply to navindesigns
Tell us more about him please. As hes a seam bowler, Im interested to know:
How fast is he?
Does he swing the ball?
Whats his best attribute with the ball?
Is he skiddy a la Colin Stuart? Bouncy a la Joel Garner? Consistently accurate?
Thanks
Berridge is not fast....what he has is accuracy and discipline.
I think BOTH Harding and Berridge should be exposed vs Ireland or at least included in the squad .
Harding is a potential ODI opening bowler...Harding takes wickets at the top consistently.
Berridge is your potential ODI first change/middle over bowler also with the potential to open with an ODI express opening pacer and keep it quite at the other end.
Who yall dropping to play Harding and Berridge?
Berridge bowls medium pace and can't bat.. Don't see him playing ahead of Holder, Paul and Shepherd.. those guys could offer something with the bat
Only change to the squad should be somebody for Pierre.. maybe Fabian Allen
This would be my starting XI
1. Hope
2. King
3. Hety
4. Pooran
5. Chase
6. Pollard
7. Allen
8. Paul
9. Walsh jr
10. Alzarri
11. Cottrell
Don't see Chase at number 5 as a long term option too.. If it was up to me that spot de going to an aggressive batsman.. Sherfane Rutherford got de same potential as Hety and Pooran selectors should invest in him.. in couple years time he will be in demand around the world
In reply to analyst-kid
How many A team matches have two played?
I am hearing about Harding pace, can he bowl at the same pace, during his second and third spells?
In reply to openning
Im talking one day cricket here. Berridge and Harding just completed a Super 50 tournament. In Harding's case he has two back to back List A tournaments and one tour match vs the Indians.
WI desperately need one day bowling performers....currently their bowling present no horrors to top ODI teams.
All is well in calling new names but the guys who played in Afghanistan/India had some good performances and nothing really warrants dropping them at this time. Holder probably the only one that didn't have any real impact against India but Paul, Joseph, Cottrell all had at least one impactful game. Shepherd didn't play against India.
Pierre looked the weakest of the bowlers in the ODIs but still early in the man career and it's India, the king of spins.
However, someone will be left out as its highly unlikely that we'll have a caribbean tour with 15 guys travelling.
In reply to Barry
Drop Holder
In reply to anthonyp
Replace King with Ambris and you are on the right track.
In reply to Ragga007
King could open. Ambris should replace Chase. Pollard should be used as the 6th bowler.
In reply to anthonyp
Pretty good eleven. I am very concerned about King. He unquestionably has star talent but it is imperative that CWI urgently get him proper coaching to fix an obvious deficiency playing the ball on a good length on the off stump moving away. He is disturbingly vulnerable to that delivery. Seems predisposed to cut at the ball even ones close to the off stump. Shai is obviously in the process of fixing the very problem he had not so long ago, except he 'fished'. Constant reps and coaching. Thats all our boys need. They are talented.
We need some strike bowlers and Harding is a strike bowler. Chemar Holder has also been bowling well. Mckoy was impressive before his injury. I saw a guy bowling with Harding I believe he is Sinclair (not sure) and he looked just as fast as Harding. Do I have the right guy? The point is we need to find some wicket taking bowlers. The batsmen today and the wonderful batting conditions make it very hard to contain these guys when they get set.
In reply to Barry
for jen miles Ambris plays..pace back up ambris mek he mash stumps twice...pace brek he hand...
for jen miles a Bajan sits ( Chase, Holder maestro Shai) fi slide in Ambris or a tit
In reply to Oilah
Jermaine Levy bowled with Harding. He is quicker and looks a better prospect to me. However Harding got the wickets
In reply to Baje
thanks...I remember the guy was looking very sharp but I obviously didn't get the name

Levy bowls too short and is not as quick as Harding. Harding consistently removed to order batsmen. Looks like he is working or on control and swing in the 50 overs format.
Whether four day cricket or List A Harding consistently removes top order batsmen. He is a genuine FC strike bowler...we would have to see. What happens at ODI or Test
In a long extensive Super50 Levy couldnt avg sub 30 in List A cricket....I just thinks he needs to put in some work on his control. Levy is promising.
I was impressed at Hardings consistency in maintaining line and length at 140ks....he even developed the slow ball in his arsenal. Chemar Holder has an inswinger at great pace which surprises and removes his opponents off stump....I always remember him bowling Chanderpaul like that in a four day match. Berridge is extreme accuracy and consistency but he must keep his composure when attacked.
In reply to analyst-kid
So who would you play if any against Ireland?
Our next series is against Ireland beginning on January 7...
When is the team being named ...January 6th?
In reply to sgtdjones
When is the team being named ...January 6th?
Isn't that how we do things

In reply to Oilah. Despite the performances of Harding Berridge and Chemar Holder....u cannot disrespect the incumbents. Only Holder looked jaded yand ineffective against India....Joseph and Paul are youngsters on the rise. Shepherd I would bring in for Holder and let Joseph and Cottrell open the attack
ODI squad against Ireland
No changes.....same squad. Maybe adding Darren Bravo to the squad
If Lewis is injured, K Pow might be added as cover
T20 squad against Ireland
Maybe Rovman Powell for Ramdin would be the only change. Risky because theres no cover for Pooran. Were playing at home so not that much of a risk
If Lewis is injured, I would bring in Hemraj
If Andre Russell is fit and available for both formats, he comes into both teams. Same for Narine
In reply to imusic
I am all for continuity but I think against a weaker opponent in yuh back yard would be the perfect time to try out a new pacer
In reply to Oilah
Then why not Oshane Thomas?
The A team is where young players with potential usually get exposure and game time.
In reply to imusic
I wouldn't have a problem trying Oshane even though he was not impressive over the last 50 overs competition
To know our strength, check the reserves.
In reply to imusic
How fast is he?
Does he swing the ball?
Whats his best attribute with the ball?
Is he skiddy a la Colin Stuart? Bouncy a la Joel Garner? Consistently accurate?
Does he overtake the ball in his follow-through, a la Cameron Cuffy & Darren Sammy?

Well, here it is on Youtube.
Jeez. Sobers turn magga magga!
Ireland won the toss and decided to bat.
Sammy with a mike, doing the pitch report with Ganga. Sammy stuttering a bit.
Cotterel being interviewed. The man smiling like a millionaire!!!
Low tide will have a say in this match for the team batting last. Watch the proceedings.
Umpire Joel Wilson??
Chase, Walsh, King, Lewis playing.
Cotterel to bowl. Starts with a 121k low full toss just outside. Punched into the covers for 2. 5th ball takes off from short of length of off. Almost takes the shoulder.
4-0 in 1 over.
Keemo to bowl. Starts at 131k. 2nd ball moves away and edged thru between the slips for 4! Wide down leg. Up to 136k.
10-0 in 2 overs.
Cotterel again. Short ball to Delaney pulled nicely to mid wicket for 4!
14-0 in 3 overs. Delaney looking a bit nervous.
Keemo again. No ball called by 3rd umpire. One run. Cotterel fields brilliantly on the boundary. Pooran misfields on the 3rd man boundary and gives away a boundary!
22-0 in 4 overs.
Cotterel again. Shortish outside off, cut beautifully thru point for 4!
This looks like a no-salute day.
In reply to Drapsey
Hahahaha! Soldier and Keemo being made to work hard here.
Keemo again. Looking fully fit, for a change. Maiden.
26-0 in 6 overs.
Alzari to bowl.
No ball called by 3rd ump again. Keemo to go back and finish his over! Wow!
2 off the free hit.
30-0 in 6 overs.
Joseph now. Pulled away to square leg for 4! 131k.
Short on off and pulled hard by Stirling, but straight to Pollard at short mid wicket, who takes the catch smartly. Alzari not emotional about it!
34-1 in 6.3 overs.
Andrew Balbirne in.
35-1 in 7 overs.
Paul again. Full on off and driven beautifully thru the covers for 4 by Balbirne! Short on leg and guided to wide fine leg for 4 more!
43-1 in 8 overs. Keemo 4-0-26-0. Relatively expensive.
Alzari again. 144k! Shortish on leg. Pulled high by Balbirne over square leg for SIX!!! Not quite in control. A similar ball to the one that got Stirling.

William Porterfield in.

I don't think that was a stumping. He was caught behind.
His foot was still in the crease.
52-2 in 10 overs. Chase 1-0-1-1
Joseph again. 143k.
4 real good overs from Joseph and Chase.

It is a really good start to the year. I have been training hard and looking to concentrate hard. Everyone in the coaching staff are helpful and I turn to them for advice. I had an idea of how to bowl to these guys and just kept it simple. Everyone in the camp is supportive. Personally, I just want to stay focussed on my game and do whatever the captain asks me to do.
