It's T20. All bowlers take licks in this format. The better bowlers will find ways to take wickets during the onslaught, or to restrict the more limited batsmen.
Those IPL folks know their stuff well - much better than CWI.

Umps seem to be already discussing a reduction with the two teams.
I bet all yuh Cotterel begging to have the match called off!
BTW, Ireland can go at it as hard as they do because they have nothing to lose, and do not fear losing. WI could learn a lot from that.

While it was probably a good move for Ireland to push O'Brien up the order and get the team off to flying starts, they now lack finishers/accumulators lower down the order and that's going to cost them chances at big scores if the top order doesn't fire.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Lendl Simmons
Simmons:
It was a proper batting surface. Every team I have a different role. In this time, I've to go hard in the powerplay. Just have the freedom to go there and express myself. Have the license. Missed out last World Cup being injured. This one is eight months away, looking forward to it.

That was ball-beating of the highest quality by Simmons.

Pollard, WI captain:
Pollard, WI captain: Disappointed we don't have another match tomorrow (enjoying the venue). Haven't bowled regularly, but it was something the team needed. It's something we need to look at. Have to have the impetus with the new ball. Can't have oppositions going to 40/0 after three overs. Need to improve that area. Not really surprised (by his success with the ball). Slow, slower, slowest. You understand the art of bowling with experience. That's what I want younger guys to do. Once they do that it'll be beneficial for the team. Some of the conversations have been along the line of 'we have the opportunity now'. Lot of guys have been knocking on the door. Love to see Lendl. For a little man he packs a punch. For us, it's for him to aim for that consistency. Start is very important. He took his opportunity today..

Balbirnie, Ireland captain:
Were outclassed in all facets. When you lose wickets in clusters against a team like WI, you've got no chance. Yeah, the dismissals were soft. Will take positives from drawing a series against West Indies. Great exposure for some of the guys. Guys are hurting but they'll learn from it.

WE have to beat some minnows to go up the ICC rankings. WE are languishing in Minnow status. But we are improving, I have confidence now, we will get beat by the top teams but we will fight and not surrender.
We will get better.
