And it was all because of coach Gibson's absence.
South Africa is now behind in the series and the Otis Gibson haters have since remained quiet.
Facking dishonest hypocrites.

First test, South Africa won it.

confirmation bias, perhaps? Otis hatred definitely
In reply to sudden
Perhaps it's pace related.
I noticed the main criticism comes from a particular sect or perhaps slower pace...it rhymes with....
In reply to Courtesy
Shiv, Sarwan, Bim -not necessarily in order of the latter two
In reply to sudden
Why dem hate Otis so?...we will never know.
In reply to Courtesy
Oh but we know why, just too well....it's beyond the boundary issues!
In reply to NineMiles
Ninsey, you have me further into the dark now. Please make me see the light.
In reply to Courtesy
Hmmmm....you don't want me to open up a can of worms, do you??
Will just reference you to the 'Opiss' and 'Ugly' brigades!
In reply to NineMiles
We remember them.
In reply to NineMiles
Stop calling out Narper, he hate Phil just as bad.
In reply to openning
What wrong with you, Narper seldom calls out Phill, there is a problem , a serious problem when a Person have problems with Otis, Browne, Holder, Beckles and the Col.
Call a spade a spade

U remember when the mob used to call Sammy names.
In reply to NineMiles
Thanks mate. I had completely forgotten about these "opiss" threads.

Yep. They are all in my archives.
It takes a black donkey to know another one.

I cannot remember the last time SA suffered an innings defeat at home.
Seems like all teams get worse after Ottis departs. Look what happened to our beloved West Indies. Our rankings have fallen in every format since Ottis left and now we have a traffic cop captain and a set of people jumping and waving because we tied a series with Ireland.
Was that our first lost ever to Ireland the other day? Let me check
In reply to Walco
I bet if Ottis was around SA would not suffer such humiliation.
In reply to Walco
Wha you came up with?
I know there was an overall record set for most runs in the power play overs in an ODI.
In reply to Walco
In cricket, its a game of uncertainty, such happens?
Look at what Australia did to India two opening bats won the game. The next game India came back.
CWI has new administrators, Coaches captain, and some players.
They are at the bottom of the barrel. Inconsistencies will occur, as murphy's law dictates.
One must beat minnows when we are minnows.
Let time dictate our progress and not haste

SA defeated both India and SA at home in Tests during Gibson's tenure. During this series they have lost to an England team at less than full strength. The last defeat was to and England team without Anderson and Archer.

It appears that we have played Ireland a total of 12 times between 2007 and 2020. We won 10, lost 1 and there was one rain-out We are celebrating a tied series during which we lost to Ireland for the first time ever ...
In reply to sgtdjones
Spin all you want Sarge. We are doing things differently under Polly, but the results have not improved. We just beat Ireland twice in Ireland before the WC. In our back yard we beat them 3-0 in the ODIs with a lucky win mixed in there and we tied 1-1 in the T20s. We reshuffled the deck of players and drew some different cards, but the results have been the same or arguably worse.
Having said all that I wish Polly all the best captaining my team, notwithstanding that I opposed his appointment. And I am a fan of Big Phil who is a genuinely nice human being. I would love to see Polly raise the T20 WC trophy in Ozland later this year. I might even fly over there to watch a few games.
In reply to Walco
what are the series by series outcomes since cappo Polly?
man i done forgetting already
In reply to Walco
It is interesting you admit that SA started defeating SA at home during Gibson tenure..
In reply to Khaga
I suspect that you know what I meant It should have read India and Australia
In reply to doosra
The Trinis will soon come after you for characterizing Pollys short tenure as forgettable
In reply to Walco
it;s important to keep everything in perspective
i have given him some credit for being open to change, dropping players where he sees fit, taking responsibility etc
but at some point those will have to be translated and measured in tangible ways

My apologies Courtesy for derailing your thread. I too have noticed the silence since that first test match
In reply to Walco
What you and the chair man are dancing around are the home and away to Srilanka and the disastrous WC campaign. Gibson was hired with a charter of winning the WC. The India and Australia success was on back of the excellent work done by Russell Domingo.
In reply to doosra
In the immortal words of Bill Parcells, you are what your record says you are. We showed some fight and improvement during the India series, but we showed fight and improvement against India in 2018 also.
In reply to Walco
Everyone knew England camp was sick ahead of the first year.
In reply to Khaga
Please expand regarding this excellent work done by Russell Domingo. Im curious why South Africa would have fired an excellent coach
In reply to Walco
This thread is about Gibson and his burden being carried by some loyal donkeys..
In reply to Khaga
Judging from the some of the posts on this board, it appears that not everyone knew England fielded a team of infirmary patients in the first test.
In reply to Walco
It is interesting how you are avoiding the SL test series losses and WC disaster under your boy..
In reply to Walco
Chair man has an axe to grind ..where is your good sense?
In reply to Khaga
How am I avoiding those losses? We are talking about South Africa being humiliated at home and the resulting deafening silence of Gibsons detractors. You are trying to expand the scope of the discussion.
What is your assessment of the current SA coaching staff?
In reply to Walco
Mark Boucher came into the job a month or so ago, didn't he?
In reply to Khaga
Sacrificial lamb?
In reply to Walco
SA's biggest humiliation was when they lost to SL at home..In the current series ,SA still have a chance to square the series.
In reply to Khaga
You said this
Yet you said this about a loss in tests just before the last WC:
Perhaps that Sri Lanka loss meant a lot because global cricket was not focused on ODIs prior to the last WC. And the England losses don't mean much even though global cricket is now focused on Tests and T20s
In reply to Walco
Test cricket is the highest form of the game..
