Skerritt: Bravos world class reputation makes WI stronger.
There is no disagreement from certain quarters with the new policy of considering every West Indian player for selection...it's the extension of the policy "walking back into the team" without playing any regional cricket or recent international cricket anywhere.
And further, there are several past West Indies players who have not played at the regional level for sometime now. So what then determines who is called back immediately? Why didn't they benefit equally from this new policy?
CWI has spawned a dangerous precedent and the Russel's et al can feel victimized if the same courtesies are not extended to them.
Is this so difficult to comprehend? This poster has no difficulty with the return of Dw Bravo but I ask for the sake of clarity and completeness, what qualifies him other than an international reputation which all of the others have and have thus far not received the same courtesies from the selectors.

When will Skerritt get it?
In reply to Courtesy
that's what politicians do
there is one law for when they are in power and another for when they are in opposition
In reply to doosra
I understand the general policy but CWI should be able to defend it from all angles.
In reply to Courtesy
maybe they will eventually defend it
In reply to doosra
I will understand and acknowledge if they say they placed all such names in a hat and Dw Bravo's name came up. This will suffice.
In reply to Courtesy
Narine
Gayle
Russell
will also benefit from same?
that would solidify the policy
In reply to doosra
What effect does this policy have on the motivation of younger players who are already on the team and seek to better themselves year after year by putting in the hard work in regional competitions?
You see, policy formulation must not be viewed in isolation...Especially with idiotic statements like "Bravos world class reputation makes WI stronger." How can a reputation make anything stronger?
Courtesy says: It's current performance not reputation, stoopid.
What is the opportunity cost of bringing back such players? Can CWI afford giving up such costs?
How many years of productive life have those players got?
Will those players change their priorities and make themselves available when CWI tours clash with harvesting their cash crops?
In reply to doosra
What about Samuels? He played for the West Indies in the Tournament before the world cup when everybody else were too busy.
Same reason the captain walk back in the side. Club cricket performance.
In reply to natty_forever
If the the case why not Samuels, Russell, or Gayle .
In reply to Courtesy
You do realize that as long as Bravo performs then there is no need for any long talk...right?
They took a gamble...so far so good.
Makes me think of "We know we like it so"
In reply to powen001
Don't you agree that fairness dictates that the same "gamble" in your words should be applied to Russel et al?
Please don't apply the usual pussyfooting to your answer.

Skerritt knows fully what he wants.... the strongest possible teams for the major competitions mainly. Now if Russell had made himself available & not gallivanting around Bangladesh, he wouldve been selected, like Bravo. And I dont know which young West Indian player works hard?? Theyve all been raised in a culture of laziness which is why lots of promising ones have disappeared, when the effects from the grind of international competition takes effect, due to low stamina fitness levels
Except for Gayle, all these other reputations were made at club/franchise level not in the international game.
Skerritt's use of "reputation" is only an attempt to distract us from current international performance.
Is "reputation" the space that West Indies cricket want to be in, as opposed to a strategic approach to get our youngsters to perform to international standards?
In reply to davo
Russell played in CPL, Bravo did not play in CPL
so Russell played a tournament of good quality more recently than Bravo
so your point makes no sense
and who is to say BPL not of good quality?
unnu moving the damn goal post to suit
In reply to Courtesy
you of all people have the gall to call someone stupid!
it was/is bravo's performance internationally that led to his reputation you ding-bat! for example; he has a particular habit/characteristic of wanting to bowl at the death and has performed well most often than not in that capacity, thus; his reputation.
yuh done wid gayle so now yuh on bravo and not long from now yuh will be on russell's backside when he is picked to represent the west indies because, you have nothing else to do than maintain in you skull that you knows best about everything.
you are a self-opinionated grouse!
In reply to powen001
Why Bravo did not toured India?
I'll excuse the educational level.
He who cannot structure a proper sentence does not deserve me to dignify his post with a response.
This is as unintelligent and riled up as one gets around here.
In reply to Courtesy
i told you that you knows best about everything and it didn't take very long for you to prove my point exactly.
piece of work!
The cap was directed expertly and fits perfectly.
Now get your ass off this thread.
In reply to Courtesy
I don't think skerrit himself can defend that statement, let alone some posters here.
In reply to Discourse
Well, we know Skerritt is a politician...as for "poster extraordinaire," I now know that he does not have the IQ of a cucumber.
It is very obvious the fool has not understood the thrust of my argument.
In reply to Courtesy
is a social experiment i just conducted with you as the guinea-pig.
not only did i find out that you are a coward [afraid to reply to me directly], you are also a guttersnipe who wants me off his turf.
real piece of work you are!
Dignify... lemme me check what this means.
In reply to doosra
You still havent comprehended. Its not where or when Russell & Bravo played prior to the Ireland series, its the respective players availability. They both can walk directly into WI T20 team without having to prove themselves in any extended CPL series.
In reply to tc1
You read what I said? When last they played club cricket and how did they perform. Bravo did not play CPL because of an injury, not because he had other commitments.
Because of what? A drawn series vs Ireland?
This is partisan behaviour by the head of the organization who should at all times appear to be neutral regarding all players under CWI's charge. How can he so blatantly single out one player for special mention and accolades? This is totally unprofessional.
That type of behaviour should be reserved for the Bravo groupies....
In reply to natty_forever
I know you love the tits, but Bravo did not tour India with the help of captain Pouty and slim Phill because he would have gotten licks,
However the tits in charge played him against powerhouse Ireland to boost his avg, thus placing him in a favorable position as how he save the day for West Indies.
Meanwhile the Icon is still in the wilderness, and Gayle who record in T20 is superior to Bravo is still wandering.
In reply to Kay
they played him against the mighty green men instead of going to India where his performance would have been below par.now he is the savior of West Indies cricket.
In reply to tc1
You making up stories now. Nancy Drew?
WEST INDIES VS IRELAND 2019
Dem prefer dis
Kemar Roach - 10 -0-62-0
Jason Holder - 10-0-55-1
Ashley Nurse - 4-0-37-0
Roston Chase - 1-0-13-0
Jonathan Carter - 2-0-19-1
In reply to Kay
Now Bravo has a permanent place on West Indies T20 team.
How can you ever drop him after a statement from none other than the President (himself) of CWI glorifying Bravo's reputation and making it the reason why he should be re-instated on the side.
Those CWI fellas are a bunch of jokers unfit for even running a lemonade booth.
Poster chile for crocodile tears
Gayle is too old IMO
But Bravo, Russell, and Narine dont have to prove a thing to anyone and would absolutely walk into, not just West Indies, but any T20 team on the planet

Your dishonesty and insularity meter conveniently omit this tho.
You more transparent than clear glass
And what exactly was dishonest and insular about my post you referred to? I made up the link? It never happened?
As the reputable Andy Roberts said recently on the matter under discussion, "CWI is looking backwards."
In reply to imusic
It's dishonest because you singled out the Bajans when there are two other non-Bajan bowlers who had nothing to write home about and further, you treated the Bajans as strictly bowlers with no other contribution to the side.
You have also quoted ODI bowling figures.
It's also a one match performance (snapshot) which you presented as representative of the whole.
For example, Ashley Nurse has a better International T20 econ rate and batting average than Dw. Bravo.
In reply to imusic
Which team won?
In reply to davo
Russell galavanting in Bangladesh? Say what? Let me inform you that Russell was the player of the series in the BPL and captain of the winning team. He will be included into the West Indies T20 team in due time.
In reply to natty_forever
Its calling a spade a spade.to say that it was plan to play him against Ireland rather than India.?

You all scream and holler when we lose a game even saying Polly is a fraud.
We want to see WI win and climb every table.
How they do it does not matter.
Did Smith and Warner deserve to come back so soon? Maybe but CA is a business and just like CWI it is a business.
Sponsors want to see some ROI and we the citizens want to smile.
So if Skeritt can put that smile back on our faces and make his sponsors happy at the same time by putting the BEST X1 on the field in each format I am happy.
I want to see us start beating the top 3 in every format and getting invited once more for more than 2 tests at a time during the summers down under.
if you and others don'y like that then sorry.
We want the best on the field. Cricket is 365 days a year so even CWI must bend their rules for our stars. CWI cannot pay a cricketer his worth anymore. Gone are the days of part timers.
In reply to imusic
You got back your mojo, never seen you so happy , I be gud to the trini, found more lost tits cousins this weekend, so I will nice.
Skerritt is a better politrickcian than comrade Cameron!
