Seems like Niall Smith has eaten his dinner. Imagine, Guyana could actually field four decent medium pacers at the same time, in a regional match. Shepherd, Paul, Smith and Joseph...

Ronsford Beaton
In reply to mikelegend
Something is wrong with Beaton in the head, there is no reason why he cannot stop throwing a few balls while bowling, most of the time his bowling action looks legal, now he is missing out on making a living playing cricket.

I think it would be very difficult for him to make a regional team at this time. His pace has dropped to the level of a medium pacer since his remodeled action. There are quite a few decent medium pacers in the region, so hell have to come up with something really special, to get back in the mix.

I agree. Sorry though if he can't make a success of his craft.
My fervent hope is that on the region we are able to transform those protege in world class athletes and produce, as we once did, in the abundance that Australia is doing currently

This should be a lesson to all of the youngsters coming through. You have not arrived until you have REALLY arrived. When you do arrive, you have to do all of the right things CONSISTENTLY to stay.

had a lot of pace. wish him well.
Beaton has done enough to be considered as one of the greatest fast bowlers in history!!*
*According to the southerners on this board.
A poor man Jermaine Lawson!!

All Beaton had to do to convince me that he was good, was to take a return catch.
He didn't deliver.

Why would you think it's that easy? Not easy to just change your bowling action. Throwing isn't something he was doing deliberately. It became a part of him and would be difficult to leave behind. It is not surprising to hear he lost pace with his remodeled action. Jermaine Lawson did too. Probably lose some control too.

I base my opinion on observing some of his deliveries, it seems like his change-up ball is the one he throws, but most of his seem to be legal, that's why I stated that something is wrong with his head that cannot stop doing it.
In reply to dayne
What do you call his change-up ball? His action looked questionable to me but sometimes you can't really tell until the tests are done. I'm sure though that he wasn't flinging deliberately. Why would he endanger his livelihood?
In reply to spider
I think Dayne was referring to some of his effort balls/deliveries...especially the short ones. I questioned some of the great Dayle Steyns as well( was told it was all in the wrist); SOME looked rather similar to Beatons in my eyes...
