Left-handed bastmen Evin Lewis and Shimron Hetmyer have been omitted from the squad which played the recent series against Ireland after failing to attain the new minimum standard fitness requirements in recent fitness assessments.

positiveg 2020-02-03 14:45:38

“Darren Bravo and Rovman Powell owe their recall to their outstanding performance in the recently Colonial Medical Super50 tournament. Bravo brings good form, a renewed appetite for runs and lots of experience which will benefit the team tremendously. Powell who is back from injury, will add batting firepower to the lineup, increase the team’s bowling options and strengthen the fielding unit.

positiveg 2020-02-03 14:46:16

Harper added:

“Evin Lewis and Shimron Hetmyer missed out due to the fact that they came up short in the fitness test. They will be missed, Lewis was the team’s best batsman in the recent Colonial Medical Insurance ODI Series against Ireland where he batted with great composure and proved the bedrock for the team’s Series win. Hetmyer appeared to be getting his act together and was an integral part of the team’s batting group.”

Maybe so but I am happy to see him in the squad.

More than likely he will open in the absence of Lewis. He has to make those 3 games count else relax back in first class cricket until he picks back up. Ball in his court.

Well seeing that fitness is being measured, that maybe the end of Shannon Gabriel for a while. His fitness scores are poor!! Hope this wakes him up so he can work to get it up to scratch for the test series in July.

It is end of many Wasteundies skunts who are useless such as Shetmyer, Lewis, Gabriel, Fatwall etc etc In a way I can proudly say this is the best decision from management. Slowly they are saying Wasteundies are unfit to play cricket at international level. Its better for them to quit the cricket altogether as they can't compete with international teams.

Really like that XI well the depth with the bowling and batting.
Chase and Paul will have to sit out for me.
Real fire power to finish an innings in that line up with Holder being an option to send in earlier to bat long.
And 4 front line bowlers to be supported by Allen, Rovman and Pollard.

What in the actual FACK is going on with West Indies Cricket?! Darren Bravo and Rovman Powell get picked for the Sri Lanka series but not the highest run-scorer of the Super 50 tournament Kieran Powell???? Same Kieran Powell who just scored three half centuries IN Sri Lanka in their own domestic tournament?????...Same Kieran Powell who has over a 1000 runs in all tournaments since the domestic and regional seasons began in October?????

Enoch Lewis yuh nasty skunt yuh hellbent on destroying Kieran Powell's career because you have petty beef with your own LI players...you gone get your comeuppance just like Dirty Dave did trying to destroy Darren Bravo's career... And how the fack do they justify Brandon King being there again and again after just one good CPL? This is wrong on every level and nasty old men with grudges should not dictate young men's careers this way!!! I hope Powell speaks up, Enoch has to go, he is like the Corona facking Virus of LI Cricket and Kieran's dad is powerful enough to deal with bad minded folk the same way they dealing with young men's careers!

On another note, many congrats to Darren Bravo, finally some justice for him. Onto Test team captaincy next son!

You do have (and perpetually demonstrate) the propensity to complain.

Correction. Yardie.

BTW, I do like Kieran Powell and I'm very disappointed that he keeps getting bypassed. Maybe his powerful dad needs to pray harder.

But at the same time you do come over as miserable.

Gabriel bowls at 90mph.he can't just rush back after injury. You notice he not playing first class cricket

DIEHARD 2020-02-03 20:19:27

Yeah, only one objection, King should be out for Powell for real.

Unfortunately Lewis is unfit, he really should be in the squad otherwise

Absolutely zero issue with Hetmyer being out

Why is Ambris still in squad?
He is not even a passenger but more like baggage!
Let another player gain some valuable mileage and experience.

That team almost the opposite of what i pick lol

Holder has been in abysmal ODI form, why persist?

I'm afraid he'll fare even less in SL, pitches there unlikely to assist him?

More impressed by Shepherd than Paul tbh, feel like Paul is more suited to Test cricket than this short stuff...he's been underwhelming so far in his short limited overs career, i think Shepherd more likely to be a match winner than him, and is a better containing bowler.

Aljo, workload management..rest him for tests, he also keeps out Powell, who forced his way back into the side by the sheer weight of regional runs scored, i say give the former vice captain a chance to show us he has learned to play spin

..and Ambris over King has been my position from day one.

Ambris should be given this series to rise to the occassion
