Am I the only one who is bothered that Tagenarine only seems interested in blocking deliveries. He really needs to work on his offensive game and mix his patience and defense with the ability to make runs. Having a strike rate under 20 consistently across matches cannot be good batsmanship.

In reply to b4u8me2 Boy needs to workout, put on muscular poundage...will gain strength, ergo, he'll be more confident & offensive oriented to beat balls! Said that of Kraigg braffit too!

Why?
In reply to Norm
Are you seriously asking why? Playing out 5 runs off 60 balls repeatedly won't win games. A pure defensive game does not make runs unless the defense actually fails and he gets a edge through slip and gets a boundary it utterly bad bowling like into his pads down the leg side and he tickles it fine for a single etc. If he can't score at more than a strike rate of 20 against these bowlers how is he gonna make runs against more disciplined international bowlers without knowing having an offensive game?
In reply to b4u8me2
Yea, you probably are the only one!
Why?
In reply to b4u8me2
That's exactly what it is. 5 runs off 60 balls have helped Jaguars to win many games. Tage fails and the Jaguars fail.
If you want to beat the Jaguars, remove Tage quickly.
In reply to Norm
It has helped the Jaguars to win nothing. The Jaguars have won matches because of their bowling. Any match that a team makes over 300 first innings run against Jaguars the Jaguars either lose it or it's drawn.
Tagenarine will never see the WI team if he continues to bat this slow. No international team wants an opener who bats the entire first day and only makes 60 runs. It does not advance the game and it does not put the team in a winning position. I do recognise that at times a batsman is required to just bat time and runs then becomes irrelevant but this os normally in the third or fourth innings of a game when one is trying to salvage a draw. He bats forever and then gets out without making a substantial score. That cannot be what we are encouraging if we expect to see him go international.

OK, keyboard warrior. Cuss Tage all you want. When they select the Jaguars team, right at the very top of the list you will see:
TAGENARINE CHANDERPAUL
Wanna bet?
In reply to b4u8me2
So according to your logic they may be better off playing an extra bowler instead of Tage? Can you give us your expert opinion on why Jaguars management still persist with him although he is a liability?
In reply to Kay
That, in cc.com jargon, is called a "rant". That fella already gave us his rant, er expert opinion, man!

People seemed to think this kid was going to be talented because he is Shiv's son, if that's the case, every talented batsman would have a kid in the game.
In reply to black
Another keyboard warrior who thinks his negative opinion of those who actually excel at something, like Tage, actually matters. Ah, well. Live on in self-delusion, fella.
Go, Tage!
In reply to Norm
I wish the kid well but he still have lots of work to do.
Scores like 50 off of 250 is not going to get him on the senior team anytime soon, we can't have 2 slow pokes on one team.
In reply to black
Some sort of rule you made up? Or a recommendation for winning matches?
In reply to Norm
Yes, the common sense rule.
In reply to b4u8me2
I have said this before. He is adopting an approach that is required (and his father utilized) when you are playing in a collapso team.
However he need not. If he has the skills he should try to emulate Kholi and Steve Smith. Thinking only of propping up a collapso unit is negative thinking.
In reply to black
We will have to share this wonderful new rule with the Jaguars selectors then!
In reply to Norm
Ironically, his slow poke approach might be stunting his development.
In reply to black
Yeah. He might never become another Leon Johnson, or Vishal.
