You can always find dem in a supermarket.
while I am a snapper queen - particularly a Yellow Tail queen, Banga is a decent substitute in a crisis.

Bangs Mary is helluva lot better than Whiting that African Americans eat!

Strangely enough it is the most used fish in JA - was very cheap for years - imported from Guyana. Same name - very few bones and a good white fish. Not related to trout but quite similar in taste.
Of course I want mi yellow tail but not teking chances in Port Royal - not after dem cruise ship arrivals in mi town. lol

Banga Mary or Weakfish is a marine seafood that belongs to the family of drums. It is also known as Spotted Sea Trout even though it is not closely related with Trout. Depending on the season, Banga Mary inhabits coastal areas or resides in deep water away from the shore.

It does resemble trout - google for pics. A big time chef like you should know about dis one although it has only become popular in the rest of the Caribbean in recent years. Guyanese and Surinamese love it.

I am not a chef, but worked along side some great ones.
I studied Hospitality management, working most of my years in food and beverage.
My three brothers and I had to learn to cook, clean, wash, sew and Iron as teenagers, with our sisters living in England.

What are you trying to do? Make things worse?

Take a break, think about it and come back and do what you think is best. We can all put this behind us and move on.

Banga is the most popular fish in Bim. Especially since flying fish flew south to Bago and the price for a packet of 5 went above BDS17. Your Bajan cousins can explain in words which you and dem will 'uunstand'. big grin
