Cars vs SUV
In reply to black
If you're a real enthusiast you'll know that no suv can handle like a proper car..
Physics.
car
nothing feels like a nice sleek looking car....

was never an suv guy --- nothing like a Beamer on the highway - at 80 mph it feels like you not moving --- i am beginning to think i may add a Wrangler Jeep though -- i am kinda liking them --- hope i wont be making a mistake

Horses for courses
The idiots are the people with with gas guzzling SUVs that never touch dirt
Where I live, helicopter is the best option
Ok, you all got me on the "handling" part but SUVs are so much more convenient. And the ride is not bad, unless you looking to get arrested for going over 100 mph.
Look, there's a reason why Ford is thinking about going with just SUVs and Trucks, the demand for car are not there.

I experienced the best of both worlds with my Crossover!
Had a Jeep Wrangler back in the 90s! Can be dangerous, but fun!

Before purchasing consider the following....
One's need
Carbon footprint
Mileage
Tires, costs etc
There are entities that will do an analysis
for any purchaser to show the best vehicle that they require.

Lol...A crossover is the best of both worlds?
The best of a car is it's small, maneuverable, comfortable and fast.
The best of an Suv is it's big intimidating go anywhere and mostly it's versatility in hauling. Cargo, people, trailers.
Can a crossover do that? A crossover is a medium, a compromise, not best of both Worlds.
An suv is the inbetween of a car and a truck. It can carry more people than a car but haul as much as a truck and tow.
To the person claiming people are foolish to have a gas guzzling suv while never setting foot on dirt...How else can you carry 8 people plus their gear on a roadtrip? In comfort?

Ford is moving to trucks and suv vehicles because they are great at it and suck at cars.
Same reason Ferrari has stuck with supercars.
Ford is the number one Truck seller...and by all accounts the Raptors are the best out there.

That is true even within a segment...My Cadi tires cost way more than my Suburban tires.
A Ferrari's tires cost way more than a Land Rover's.
Too many people love to base their opinion on perception rather than actually thinking about the people who buy these things and why.

Here comes the environmentalist!
This stuff is going to work itself out, the market is going to move towards electric but it's not going to happen, overnight.

Man, HYMC! Its the best of both worlds for me! Thats all that matters to me! That is what fits my needs!
In reply to StumpCam
Your emotion notwithstanding....it is still not the best of both Worlds....it meets your needs, thats all...to some a car meets all their needs. to athers a truck does, to others still an suv does...
Most will say a minivan can do as much as a crossover and some feel a crossover is a waste of time over a wagon.
It aint best of both worlds. sorry.

The Raptor is a nice looking beast, the F-150 is the top selling truck in the US.

In reply to Runs
Yep...beautiful. But apparenhly also quite a masterpiece in offroading, power, drivetrain and comfort. It is quickly becoming a legend.
Pricey too.
The F-150 has been a top selling vehicle forever. There are many years where they were the top sellling vehicle period.
Compact SUVs are the in thing since last decade. It really looks good, But driving it in cities with not many straight free roads must be a pain. But there are advantages like suspension and space which would make a passenger comfortable.Part of me feel I should have invested in compact SUV...But the other part which think better and is piss poor thought otherwise..went for a compact hatchback.

Lol..black volks..I drive a red nissan micra

Yuh had a Jetta I recall
The countries in North America are experiencing a period of aging populations, that why SUV are so popular, it hard for the mature to get their 250 pounds in a car, also SUV's are multi-purpose. However car IMO are more pleasant to drive
In reply to dayne
It depends on what you are looking for in a car or SUV. An SUV can offer comfort only a luxury car can offer.
In reply to Runs
You are mistaken in that case.By the way my old user name --- prasad
