Johnny "Limacol" Adamson
In reply to black
I did not know that Limacol is a Guyanese product!
Limacol is still a necessary member of my medicine chest. When I left my home country 15 years ago to head to my current country of residence my mother slipped a bottle of Limacol into my suicase....It was the best surprise when I was unpacking...

Yep. I didn't realize that limacol was as popular in other Countries until I heard some people on here talk about it.

Like Hotarobin, I did't know Limacol was a Guyanese product either. I always knew about Ferrol though. (Who recalls J'cans calling it "Ferrols"? LOL.) Maybe I didn't know about Limacol because my mother used Bay Rum instead.
Those seven must-haves are a riot, though. That J. Wray bottle should be at the top. HeHeHe!

Can these claims about Wray and Nephew be substantiated?

If you didnt know, now you know!
I must admit I did not know! And I only used it when my mom administered it to me as a child!
In reply to black
What I can say is that I'm a proponent.
At the first sneeze I reach for my bottle to administer the chest, throat, and face rub with the drops of the fluid in the palm of my hand, followed my the (sustained) smelling.
All external use though, bro.

The story of Limacol in Jamaica is like this. (There might be other stories as well but this is the one I know).
Jamaicans in the forties and fifties used a product called ICYCOL (icy cool). When LIMACOL was being introduced in the fifties the advertising agency launched a competition for a slogan. The winning slogan was:
The Freshness of a Breeze in a Bottle.
And that slogan helped push up the popularity and sales of Limacol.
ICYCOL just sort of disappeared.
