IMO Hope does not play the swinging ball well, the red ball swings more than the white ball, that's why his numbers are much better in white ball cricket. Hope might have better success if he bats at the number 5 position in Test cricket.

Excellent post. This is also true of Bravo who doesn't like the extra zip with the new red ball. We have a number of guys who would be better at 5. Hope will score loads of runs at 5 in test cricket. I do believe he's good enough to bat at 3, but only after he's establish himself and build his confidence that he can succeed in test cricket. This will take him 2-3 years of heaving run scoring at 5. I think guys who don't think much like Blackwood and Hetty will do better at 3. Shai is no doubt our best batsman, but at this time he needs to bat at 5. Dowrich is also a better number 4 than Shai at this point.

There have been a few one good Test match wonders in the WI cricket History, K Powell 2 centuries in a Test, D Ganga 2 centuries in a Test, Bacchus big double century in a Test, Hope 2 centuries in a Test. What these players have in common, they have all played over 20 Test matches and all have Test batting averages in the 20's.

The bad thing about arriving one month before the test match is that it allows the players with itchy mouth along with the coach to express their opinions, positive plans and predictions.

Too much idle time if you ask me ...

And you cant see the class in Shai Hope? I remember a certain allrounder from South Africa struggling like a sad lost duck in the beginning of his test career and after his cricket days done some considered him the greatest of all times. Some rate him over Gary Sobers. Wait and see.I also remember the commentators say he had class and will come through eventually which he did.

I would suggest you wait until they give up test cricket, and then you could run your mouth a mile a minute.

I hope both Powell and Hope eventually fulfil their promise, both are classy looking players, but if you saw Bacchus make ten runs in his time you would have said he was classy and had the potential to be great, but it just did not happen.

In tours gone by these bunch of guys coming to the uk were known to do more than 'tour' the cricketing official program presenting to them. In the middle of a next match test match at a late night shub- in, a certain West Indies player was in there next beside me raving like a south London veteran.
Now with the bio secure program presented to them on this tour only hotel and no where else besides the practice facility and the actual playing the games out in the middle nothing else is provided or allowed. These bunch of men could surprise us all.
