HEADLINE: 'Skillful' Cornwall can be Windies match winner' - Philo Wallace

CaribbeanCricket.com 2020-06-21 16:24:22

Former West Indies batsman Philo Wallace believes the inclusion of spinner Rahkeem Cornwall could yet be a masterstroke if the player manages to break into the final matchday squad.

Cornwall was named as part of a 14-man squad for the tour of England, as the regional team returns to international cricket next month, for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic struck.  With the series still some weeks away there is yet to be any indication of an official starting line-up, but Wallace believes any picked should include Cornwall.

“I think that Cornwall is going to be our match-winner because he is the man that is going to apply the pressure.  I like him, he is skillful.  He is a skillful bowler and he is smart.  I think he can be the trump in England,” Wallace told the Mason and Guest radio program.

Match WINNER? So, a respectable performance by Cornwall would be equivalent to WINNING a match?

Man trying to fool himself now.

It is obvious you're not a thinking person.
The reason Gabriel was not in the 15, is because of injury, not the same for Thomas.
Gabriel has about 10-15% chance of playing in the first test, Thomas is a reserve.

If CWI was going to play Thomas in the first test, Holder would had been in the replacement squad.

Horses for courses: Seam bowling is the success weapon in England. We need four of them in the eleven which means The Wall has to sit..

Not if you play this eleven:
Kraigg
John
Shamar
Shai
Roston
Dow
Jason
Rahkeem
Kemar
Alzarri
Chemar/Shannon

I am happy you can think boss. Chemar Holder in the 14 doesn't make him an automatic pick over Thomas. There is something "called conviniently injured" and has to be replaced. That's what I believe will happen to Thomas if Gabriel is not fit, since he is the only bowler with real pace on the team outside of Gabriel. Chemar Holder will only play if Joseph or Roach is not fit. I expect either Gabriel or Thomas to in the final eleven

Why is Thomas not in the selected squad, and Holder in the reserve?
Gabriel will have to wait for the second or third test, that's
why he is not added to squad.

Seems he can still be added.

Gabriel will be added to the squad, the HC has indicated as much.
I cannot see him playing in the first test, after his injury and without testing his ankle in match situation.

They will use the squad matches.
