After reading that report you have to wonder...why do some people feel so confident about a PNM victory.I read quite a lot of Philip Alexander on Social Media and can't believe some of the things that he is exposing about PNM and UNC.The fact that a political party could rule a country for near 60 years,and have areas deprived as Laventille is shocking,and Laventille is not the only community that still live in conditions that was customary to them 60 years ago.When you have voters from those same places saying"we like it so" then you understand the mentality of those people.The PNM knows that and there's no need to improve their lives,it's better they beg for freeness and pittances from the government,it makes them happy and all is forgotten.There's another saying PNM till we dead.I hope that Philip Alexander and his party put some massive dents in the UNC and the PNM,people say he doesn't have a chance but I hope he could win a few seats and continue exposing the PNM and the UNC.

granite.....please tell me what the goodly citizens of LT and Morvant have been deprived of that the rest of the country has gotten/. They have access to free education nursery to tertiary(up to masters if yuh could convince GORTT that your degree will help economic development), free healthcare, CDAP, unemployment relief grant, ytepp, HYPE, MUST, NEC, MIC, box lunch, free textbooks.......all paid for by the state. Tell me what have they been denied of. They're still even getting compensation by the courts for the soe of 2011. So the government must pay for people having children at 15,16,17 years old as if personal responsibility is a myth.

Laventille is not the only place in TT in a backward state,just ask Mr.Philip Alexander,and all that he is saying is true then people should take heed.Why are mainly Afro Trinis rioting,what do they want,are they starving,are they being shunned by others and suffer racism,what is wrong.The government is very casual about the suffering of certain sections because they know, those same people will vote for them again.

In reply to JumpstartI lived for part of my life in TT,Sanfernando and my father and mother would not dream of voting for anybody else apart from PNM,and I am saying this openly now,if anybody feel it's racist then I'm sorry.MY PARENTS AND MANY OF OUR FAMILY NEVER TRUSTED INDIANS,it was one of the main reasons they always voted for PNM.I remember my mother taking me to the SanFernando Market and she would not buy meat especially from Indian butchers,always from the Afro butchers,again she trusted them more than Indians.I also thought they were right,but I feel no government should be in power that long,they become complacent and forget their grassroot supporters,that fact is shown as blatantly true with constant riots by sections of Trinidad.
I think TT is in panic mode to call snap elections,they are running on empty,did you listen to Faria.I would love to see the end of 2 people in the PNM one is Faris al Rawi and second is that imbecile "Clone Imbert",two of the biggest idiots in TT politics.

What snap election? The poll has to be conducted before the end of the fiscal year and the reading of a budget. The government's mandate expires on September 7th. They could have opted for a 3.5 month campaign like what occurred the last time but we all know how well that turned out. You can only make deals after your term has expired. You can't do anything otherwise. The economy going to get rougher in tge latter quarter of the year so they're riding the handling of covid.
Well they did say.....and some people still say Robinson did mash up de country and all he did was place the state under much needed austerity. He paid the price politically but history has been very kind to him and his government. What did colm do that was unreasonable under the circumstances : introduce MEANS tests for GATE, roll back the gas subsidy, reintroduce property taxes which have not been paid in over ten years, costing hundreds of millions in much needed revenue. Politically it may have been unpopular, but for a country which was in recession for 3.5 years officially and four years in reality, are those unreasonable choices? What you wanted him to borrow more than we are already borrowing to maintain an unsustainable lifestyle?
