Kamla calls for International Election Observers

Narper 2020-07-09 00:38:17

In a letter to Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley, Persad-Bissessar, who is also political leader of the United National Congress, stated that international election observation is an important mechanism for ensuring election integrity, and drew reference to the on-going debacle over the results of the March 2 election in Guyana.

Persad-Bissessar said: "With the August 10th General Election fast approaching, I am writing to urge you to invite international observer teams to monitor the poll.

It will be a close race Narps , any party can win. Don't expect much changes as T&T spiral downwards with the victor.

cool

I doubt it will be close, don't see UNC winning enough marginal seats which they will need to come close to win this general election

VIX 2020-07-09 14:14:55

Isn't having election observers common in the caribbean? What Kamla and Rowley fussing about??

TriniStar 2020-07-09 14:33:32

T&T had Commonwealth and CARICOM Observers for 2007, 2010 and 2015 general elections and I don't see any different happening this year. The only major difference will be the Observers will have to come early enough to be quarantined as this is the protocol

Just hours after I wrote the above, the Prime Minister said here on his page announced he has written to CARICOM requesting observers. This was expected. And I should start playing the lottery lol

So you don't notice Phillip himself did not offer himself as a candidate for any constituency. What does it tell you when the leader of a party afraid to contest any constituency in the country?

The thing is he sounds very honest about what he says, and some of the spending is mind boggling, but I don't know if he is honest. You say he is a clown and I'll believe you.

No I didn't see that, how could he be a leader then, you blokes know what's going on so I must accept what you know.I honestly think that the UNC will never challenge the PNM if they continue to be an Indian party,or portrayed as such.I really would like to see voting on race a thing of the past,Trinis are intelligent enough.

PNM winning again, but with a smaller majority. Maybe 1 or 2. There's even a possibility of a dead heat if duke captures a seat or two. Prime minister Duke anyone? big grin

Can COP win St Augustine?

VIX 2020-07-11 15:10:40

In reply to Narper

COP is a non-entity. Not even nuisance value.

problemjay 2020-07-11 15:15:30

In reply to VIX

right now Duke scrambling all the small parties to mobilise with him in Tobago because he beginning to feel the heat from the PNM. It will be even worse for him when the PM himself go Tobago and hit the ground. PNM will win Bago easily in the end

Now this is the real pressure on Duke at the moment Link Text

problemjay 2020-07-11 15:16:27

.
My prediction is once the people come out in numbers the PNM win elections with 23-24 seats

This UNC under Kamla cannot win the marginal seats of Tunapuna, St Joseph, Grande which they will need to even come close. All PNM has to do is make sure to retain these seats and possibly steal San Juan which the UNC won by a close margin in 2015

answer is a simple NO. Anyone who T&T politics will tell you COP will be lucky to win 500 votes right now

Narper 2020-07-11 17:50:47

In reply to problemjay

Recent MP was Prakash Ramadhar who was COP....he is no longer interested
UNC picks Khadijah Ameen ....
I am hearing people in St Augustine dont want Ameen
Leader of COP Carolyn Bachan throws her hat in to contest St Augustine

You saying she cant get 500 votes

VIX 2020-07-11 18:13:00

In reply to Narper

She can't get 200 votes

You obviously are very clueless about T&T politics if you really don't understand how dead COP is today. Stop living in 2010, We are in 2020.

UNC will win St Augustine easily with any candidate
