Come allyuh - attrition cricket from now
Brathwaite gawn - did not request a review -should have
In reply to Chrissy
Its plumb.
Good grief - dis is trouble - Hopeless
Leh we go my side - two sessions to stick around
two more overs without further loss and we safe!
Chrissy did it (again).
Playing attrition cricket for close to 70 overs is too much to ask of batsmen whose technique and temperament are grossly suspect. These batsmen are rarely required to play for a draw in local cricket. Attrition cricket requires sound defence, plus the ability to use pads expertly. Padding out balls pitched outside the off stump is very tricky these days even when a stroke is offered. Padding out balls pitched outside the leg stump is equally tricky given that the batsman judgement is often seriously compromised. I believe they stand a better chance of saving the game by playing the type of cricket they are used to. Anyway, England's fast attack supported by competent close in fielders is asking too much of our glorified schoolboy batsmen.
72 overs to go

True words my brother
In reply to DonD
Now You recognize they are school boy players? What happened to your cave age pride when you were slapping your thighs during first test? Is it a fluke and you came to know the reality?
DEDING WID LAF.

Chase departs
In reply to Chrissy
Before the replays I think he should have reviewed
But good call by Chase
In reply to Chrissy
No CHASEing today...but Blackwood to the rescue!
In reply to bolls
Mr. Bolls, I always feel proud when we win a test. Note, I did say glorified school boy batsmen not school boy players. I would like you in all seriousness to tell me except for Chase, which sorta genuine test batsman we have produced since Chanders.
In reply to NineMiles
That would be nice..
not giving up until its over
In reply to DonD
You having a discussion with a parasite horse
This match could be over soon.
Too much poking, is the reason for losing so many wickets.
It is a good time, for Blackwood to show us his batting strength.
In reply to WIForever
You sure is a parasite horse and not a tumblebug?

How can we play attrition cricket when we do not even play first class cricket. On the thread about hope and jumping bean I chronicled the amount of first class cricket 14 of our top players, played and with those numbers it is clear what the problem is.
An example that I have repeatedly made is the Australian batsman Labuschane who played 10 matches for Glamorgan second XI last year notched up 5 centuries and was called in to replace Steve Smith and the rest is history.I criticized CWI for scheduling that ODI and T 20 tour of Sri Lanka as well as the matches against Ireland which clashed with our Domestic first class competition but n nobody cared as they wanted to watch exciting licit cricket.
I am connecting the dots here but why do I feel like a voice crying in the wilderness?????

One thing about Blackwood,he is supremely confident and does not lack in self-belief.
50 overs left for West Indies to survive ... or get another 211 runs
"I'm a South African and have been living in England for 20 years, but can't bring myself to be an English fan," declares Ricky. "I really want WI to win this one, or at least force a draw!!"
Stokes was in Blackwood's ear at the Ageas Bowl and seems to be having a few words again. Blackwood isn't getting sucked in
Blackwood backs away to square leg to compose himself, trying not to get sucked into the battle

47 overs to go.
Cricket Hoodrat: "What's with the headbands that some of the English bowlers are wearing? Is it to assist in harvesting sweat for the ball?" I think Broad said during lockdown that it was to stop sweat getting in his eyes (and consequently needing to touch his face)... That or simply a group style choice?
In reply to Dukes
Jermaine is a true Yardie
Check his 4th innings average versus the rest

I am connecting the dots here but why do I feel like a voice crying in the wilderness?????
I just read your piece on the jumping bean thread. You might well be a lone voice crying in the wilderness. I believe that the average young cricketer is more concerned with making quick money than spending time developing proper batting skills. There was a time on this board when we debated this issue repeatedly. I am not sure if some pioneers are prepared to join this discussion again. Most of Our great iconic cricketers have retired poor and often subsist at the mercy of island govts providing them with cushy cheap jobs. The youngsters see the Gayles, Bravos, Pollards and lesser talents living well and frown on the fame and glory of past masters who are finding it hard to eke out a living. These youngsters worship at the shrine of T20 cricket. I can empathize with them. Their mediocrity is in great demand by the international T20 organizers.
Dem playing sensible cricket.
46 overs to go
Stokes a highly refined version of Flintoff..Has the same bodylinesque deliveries..Super cricket this..Good determination shown by WI batsmen..
"There is the intent!!!!!" cries Harsha Nathani. "Come on West Indies "
Rufus Bones: "Hello, hello guys..is Rufus from Guyana here..I put a big bet on here at Rice Bowl restaurant in GT, Me bet a man 2 ram goat that West Indies win game!" Good to have you with us as ever, Rufus. Hope you enjoyed the crate of Banks you won on the Southampton Test?

Half Century.
100 run partnership - impressive
Bat on
Big wicket dat - still good 55 Blackwood.
In reply to Chrissy
As yuh say Bat on
3.55pm And they'll head off for tea. That wicket has changed the complexion of this match, after Blackwood and Brooks had put on a fighting century stand. Still five wickets needed for England, with West Indies hoping to cling on for 42.2 overs (or until bad light intervenes). Dowrich will be the new man in after tea, with Holder and Joseph still in the sheds and capable of holding up the England charge. Alan will be back in 15 or so to talk you through it.
TEA
In reply to Halliwell
OK lets do it win or draw.
School boys 1 England 0
Dowrich gawn fi a pair.
six down - barely clipping leg stump - umpire's call.
41.4 overs to go
40 overs to go
38 overs to go
In reply to Chrissy
From the naked eye, Dowrich should never have been given out in the 1st place. I know Dow has his problems, but this umpiring stinks.
In reply to Chrissy
Brooks got to bat 200 balls and Holder has to bat 120 balls.
In reply to Bestian
My thoughts as well. Mikey and I advocating that if it is clipping, benefit goes to the batsman.
In reply to Bestian
I agree
37 overs to go
36 overs to go
In reply to natty_forever
You skunts change like rattle snakes. Few days ago you skunts were advocating for if it just clips stumps, it must be out. Now you people changed the tune again.
Pathetic. You always want it in your favour, if not you play victimisation card.
"Will the weather/light potentially play a part in the end? What does it look like?" Could do, Abhi. They can play up to 7pm, which George Dobell says has been the brightest part of the day... but it's still fairly overcast in Manchester, so who knows
35 overs to go
"A draw for WI is a win for them in the points table. Some points are better than no points. Each over is step closer to those points." It would also mean they retain the Wisden Trophy, Abdul Khan. Think they've probably given up on winning this one now
