Holder team lacks quality players. The top 4 are not test material. Maybe Blackwood will come if he’s not under constant pressure...

but the results are probably better than Lara's and many other recent captain overseas

Besides pelter Lawson who averaged 29, this is the first time we have bowlers averaging 30 and below since Walsh and Ambrose.

Can you imagine that? In like 20 years we have not had any bowlers besides the trio we have currently averaging below 31?

Had this trio played with Lara, Sarwan, Shiv and Gayle, we would've won alot more I'm sure of that.

exactly

that's why when people say this team is weak, I say this team is stronger than many past teams since 2000 because they can take 20 wkts more often that many others

If it wasn’t for politics and cronyism, Lara 90s team would’ve done much better than it did. In Holder’s squad, Hope and Champbell are goners. I’d keep Blackwood; the bowling ain’t bad, but need more fire power. Joseph and C. Holder are young and with good coaching will do well...

The bowling future looks bright. The batting hasMosely and DaSilva waiting. If Lara was in this side we would definity be winning more.
If Only we had one batsman that averages 50.
Raas the thought of Shiv and Lara!

Totally agree... would throw Sars in the mix. Do you realize, Since Sars and Daren debut, we haven’t produced quality 3rd and 4th batsmen. Hopefully DaSilva and Mos can break the drought...

"Diehard West In: "I think today we will see how good a player Shai Hope really is" -- By which you mean we'll confirm he's not a very good one when he nicks off early? He's been really out of sorts in this series, and I fully expect that to continue as and when we get back on. I really think West Indies need to take him out the firing line for a year or so and let him work on his technique in domestic cricket. He looks so short on confidence and has no idea how to score when you plug cover and mid-on."

Diehard a you seh that?

And the point clearly being made that if there was a bowling attack like this in Lara’s time after Walsh and Ambrose they would have won more

Definitely, those 4 great batsmen, combined with our current 4 prong seam attack, and throw in Bravo, Brathwaite, Hetty, Chase, and a decent spinner and keeper and we would definitely have a world class test squad, capable of being top 3 in the world.

What is hetty's average in test cricket?

What is Shai Hopes's?? Why has he been given 34 test matches?

6 of one and half dozen of the other. Had Hety made himself he would have played every game...ahead of Blackwood.

Both have decent odi numbers but poor test match numbers

The two centuries in a test, plus his ODI stats, is what kept Shai in the team for this series, Hetty also would had been selected.
He just dont know which format he is playing.

Very, very good point.

If only the timing would have aligned, the windies could have not only had more victories, but if you put Roach, Gabriel and Holder together with Lara, Shiv and Gayle, I believe it would have been a team that ranked well inside the top 5 in world test cricket again.

The important thing now is to make sure we don't fall into another heap when Gabriel and roach slow down, but use this time to develop Alzarri, Chemar and Oshane and set the squad up for long term competitiveness.

I have a good feeling about the next few years - the big thing for me is to see a young, quality, aggressive leader come through in the next few years to emerge as a successor to Jason.

Is there anyone out there who we think has the potential to be future captain in juniors?

clokey 2020-07-28 00:54:34

Give me a better bowling lineup than batting lineup every single day of the week.

You can have a batting lineup that bats for days, but it means nothing if you can't take 20 wickets.

The reason for Lara team not done as it should’ve, could’ve something to do with the Prince scored 5, 10, 12, 15, 18 and 225 in a three test series. if he’d scored 45 - 50 in three innings, we’d have won many series. In other words, he scored low and and then a ton or two. I watched him in New Zealand and Australia putting up those numbers. Not directing the loses souly at him, but he was cappo and must be held accountable... Sars cutting and getting out with two deliveries remaining in a session.
shock
