As the three-match Test series between England and the West Indies drew to a close this morning, stakeholders of England Cricket and the cricketing world at large, were quick to take to social media to show gratitude to the West Indies team for making the trip in the midst of COVID-19.

But speaking to the media, following the West Indies' 269-run defeat, West Indies captain, Jason Holder, elaborated on the financial difficulties facing Cricket West Indies.

"I've been speaking to our CEO, Johnny Grave, [and] he's highlighted that we only really make money from playing England and India, I think," he said.

Well said. England should tour. Even if it is for T20s or ODIs.

I hope I music et al have read and digested what Jason said.Again I say can you imagine if we had just beaten England 2-1 or even drew the series 1-1 and thus retained the Wisden Trophy how England would;d be clamoring to play us and thus we could make some money.

did the "world beating"" teams of the 70's thru 80's have problems getting a tour?

It is about economics. The world beating South Africans of the 2000s were struggling to get a lot of tours. New Zealand which is now one of the top sides also has the same struggle.

Jason is right. Windies are owed some gratitude and it is time for England to pay up.

Note he is not asking for a tour - he is asking for touring sides to visit the Windies. Windies make money from selling tv rights and you need the big sides, England and India to tour to make money as those two countries. If you don't get those countries, you don't get the money.

The masters do what they feel to do at their own time. Good luck dictating terms to them.
If they have the time and space then you'll get their time. Not before that time.
Colonial rights..Have a good day Jason. Don't forget to drop that trophy off before you leave. Oh, forget you already did.
Did you say, black lives matter. It matters when they need you again.Keep your phone on.

Jason should let WIPA or a spokesman for the players do the talking, and concentrate on his cricket.
