CPL OBSERVATIONS THUS FAR

Emir 2020-08-28 11:18:55

Firstly, a big up to all the players, support crew/producers and administrators for making it happen.

Issues to Address:
Teams unbalanced. Look at St Kitts batting line up vs TKR for example

What is Going On
Tallawahs- it is bad for our cricket when they falter so miserably time and again

Foreign Players:
Necessary for market share globally and to bring an international flavor, but
Many of them have let down their team- Asif Ali for example, has been a massive liability

Pitch Condition:
Love it, low scores brings batters and bowlers in an even contest. We don't want an IPL circus with teams making 200 plus runs, taking bowlers out of the equation.

Foreign Captains:
It is bad for our cricket, why is Green cappo for Warriors?

Umpiring Standards:
Terrible, horrible, less than club standard. There should be a one review system

Team Performance:
Tallawahs continues to underperform and I am afraid young Jamaican fans will become disinterested in the game- bad for cricket. We need new local ownership of this franchise in particular and more top Jamaican players selected, similar like TKR.

Downright honest assessment but your bias was palpable lol

I really didn't see any bias.

No words for de Patriots who are at de bottom of de Table? Dey eh bad for we cricket? Is it because de Captain is a Trini and dey have about 4 Trini players in dere line up?

Kindly point me in the direction of these players. Jamaicans need to be taught the game all over again.

There will always be a cellar dweller. Franchise need to spend wisely.

Where did Patriots finish last year.

natty_forever 2020-08-28 13:17:33

The batting team that adjusts best to the conditions, will win it all.

natty_forever 2020-08-28 13:19:03

Recommendation. When multiple matches are expected to be played at a venue, illiminate the toss. Visitors bat first.

You right on this one....I am still trying to figure out why ump Wilson was skin teething with Polly but reading the riot act to Pooran when both men were not happy with his decision!!

More so than Chris Lynn?
Glen Philips use to be carrying the tallawahs batting, but he is having an off year so far.

Maispwi 2020-08-28 14:34:14

Wait is six Trinis on de Patriots squad. No wonder VOR complaining

Phillips having an off year and still 7th among de leading run scorers?

More than half de balls de Tallawahs face are dot balls (53%). It means dat dey have to maximize de Boundary balls and hit sixes thereby having to take more risks. On dese low and slow wickets dats a recipe for disaster

bobby 2020-08-28 14:59:55

Let's be honest, West Indian batsmen have technical deficiencies and are unable to put the balls in areas to get singles. So they struggle and have to start voopsing to catch up.
!5 years ago the late, great Sir Everton Weekes told me that a T20 game should be seen as 120 balls. He felt that 120 runs were the minimum any team should make - a run a ball and put away the bad balls for 4s and 6s.
However, our players feel all they have to do is fling their bat, while not understanding the basics of batting. You must first be able to bat before you can survive successfully in T20s.
If this does not change and our older players, who were grounded in the 3 & 4 day games and Test Cricket retire, West Indies will no longer be a force in T20 cricket.

I did not think the umpiring was that bad because I could only remember about 3 howlers for the most. The navel before wicket was the worst.

A good batsman will play on any type of wicket and be successful

cool

Both teams play on the same pitch and I like the fact the pitches keep bowlers in the game instead of slug fest of scores around 200.

With so many teams sharing two grounds, how much practicing is done?
However the spinners are having much success as usual in the WI.
