HEADLINE: 'Holder still wasted at 8' - Bradshaw

Former West Indies bowler Ian Bradshaw believes WI skipper Jason Holder would be better-suited batting higher up the order but insists the team must solve its stability issues first.

Holder, the top-ranked Test all-rounder in the world, typically bats at 8th.  So far, the majority of his contributions have been with the ball, but he has shown he can do plenty of damage for the team with the bat as well.

“I’ve said before he needs to move up the order, eighth and so forth was too low and that was based on the facts, when you look at how well he was batting and his average compared to the rest of the batting unit.  He was one of better batsmen so he is a wasted talent batting at eight,” Bradshaw told the Mason and Guest Radio program.

He bats at # 8 because the WI likes to play 6 batsmen, I do not see them promoting him above # 7 anytime soon.

i agree with him. if hetmeyer is in the squad, he should come in at 7....you need solidity in the middle order....which is what was sorely missing on the English tour this year

yeah. If hety is coming in at 7, i'm not expecting him to have a long drawn out innings. He scores quickly so i would want him to explode, get us as much runs as he could with the tail

They making it sound like Holder should come in at 3

Maybe they should try that. If Sammy could bat at 3 or 4 for West Indies, why not Holder?

When did Sammy bat at # 3 or 4 for the WI?

Absolutely correct assessment by Bradshaw... himself being one of the intelligent cricketer of his time...Holder needs a strong head coach, who can guide him properly...
