Cricket now allows a substitute batsman for concussions but looking at the case with Dowrich, I think the rules should allow it for other injuries sustained during the match.
Teams may want to take advantage of the rules, but you can minimize this but allowing the substitute for one innings. So if the players gets injured before he bats in the game, the team misses out on the first innings but a substitute is allowed for the second. If a player gets injured after he bats in the first innings, then the team is not allowed a substitute in the second.
I think it is really unfair for a team to be reduced to ten batsmen for both innings because of an injury sustained early in the game.
Of course, it will have to be like for like.
