Making all the pitches in the Caribbean pacier is not de answer. Dere is still need for some slow, low turning pitches to round off de batsmen.

Ah have a simpler solution in de interim. Get dem batsmen facing a barrage of short pitch bowling at de water's edge as de water from the waves recede. or on some wet concrete strips with de old composition, "cork" ball. If de eh learn to cut, pull, hook or easily evade de bouncers in a week den dey shud pick up another skill

I stated the same sentiment(s) a few days ago...
That will help our batsmen to cope with faster pitches that are internationally known. Windies always have good home series against the best bowlers. Hence, when we visit the same teams on their home court, we failed, because of more pace are generated on their pitches...

Because they are not generating the velocity; hence not swinging the ball to trouble batsmen. The pitches in the caribbean have lost their conformity to develop our bowlers. Lara, Gayle and Sarwan batted for days in Antigua... dead wicket.

Didn't the WI pacers dominate at home last couple of years? The damn batsmen in the WI lack courage to attack the short ball and teams know this. Only Blackwood, Joseph and Holder seems to want to play the pull or hook. The other batsmen are afraid of the ball or are very poor playing those shots.

The legside is where WI former batsmen were very strong at. Looking pretty driving is all these players have thought about for many a year now. They are so late to pickup short balls it is not funny.

Got to say, NZ attack is a formidable one

Boult left arm, prodigous swing, 269 wickets from 74 test matches

Southee right arm prodigious swing, 289 wickets from 68 test matches

Wagner left arm, fast and short pitched, 212 wickets from 49 test matches

Jamieson, TALL, Fast and steep bounce, 13 wickets from 3 test matches

770 test wickets between 3 bowlers! That is right up there with the best of them if not at the very top.

Commentators were saying that Nobody in the game bowls sustained short pitched bowling, as fast, for as long as Wagner. Which struck me as highly ironic because when we used to do it, there was a big hue and cry about unfair and illegal tactics. Now it’s admired and promoted.

And maybe the fastest of them all, Ferguson, not even playing in the Tests

Dude if you prepare in a tougher environment you should dominate when the environment favors you!

So if our wickets are a problem the batsmen and spinners should struggle on faster wickets but at the same time our fast bowlers should dominate.

Really would like to see former WI batsmen against that short pitched bowling. We have a soft bunch of players who are lacking in technique. That is why fast bowlers fatten up their stats on them. Most inept group of top order batsmen probably in WI cricket history.

Theoretically you are probably on to something. But pragmatically, it’s not happening. We need to work on pitches improve our bowlers. Even the renowned kensington oval has lost its mojo.

It take more than the pitches to produce world class cricketers, structures are. very important.

I see more Basketball nets at schools and community than when I was growing up.
I am yet to see public Cricket bowling machines in any community.

Sat in Kensington Oval and watched Richards and Best make a mess of D Malcolm bowling short ball after short ball because he thought Richards was washed up. At speeds far superior to Wagner who cannot break 140 and bowls short at least three ball an over. RR, DH and GG would make a mess out of him. My point is that with the advent of helmets playing the short ball seems like a thing of the pass and Wagner have taken full advantage of this. Didn't Smith get beat up by the Englishmen also recently? Holder seems like the only batsman in our setup that have the capacity to play the shot. I know Mayers does also because he is a throw back WI batsman and would do well in the middle order with Blackwood. We have no batsmen who are will and able to attack the bowling. We are a passive group. They look like deer in headlights walking out there.
It is shocking to watch Bajan batsmen who cannot play the hook, pull or cut shot. Grew up with every fella wanting to bowl fast and take your head off. Those three shots and playing off the legs because of lack of pads made the legside game strong.
