They implemented a solid first class structure
Good sporting pitches
And meaningful A teams and tours
Our administrators should
Hang their heads in shame as they have pretty
Much the same size pool of
Players as us
Shame Shame and now a whitewash

Good administrators made NZ better than us
In reply to allan
You actually comparing a country to group of insular Islands?
In reply to openning
why not?
Why not indeed?
If we had good cricket administrators we would have
Made solid progress over the years
Instead we have a weak first class competition, not so
Good pitches - that make moderate spinners look like
World class competitors
No constant development programme of our A list cricketers and team
Our coaches also at sea with their tactics
We are in a nutshell fcuked for a cricket lifetime
In reply to allan
That is exactly what I was saying in my post.
We need administrators and for them to seek and find coaches who have WI in mind not the island they come from.
Can we have that?
If then let us import coaches. They will work for their money regardless of which island the player came from.
Maybe we need to start over.
Once we hire overseas coaches our local coaches will learn from them and that will improve our coaches .
In reply to allan
The WI have been looking for good administrators since the beginning of the formation of the Board.
In reply to camos
A New Zealander is from New Zealand, a West Indian is from an Island in the Caribbean.
Various flags
In reply to openning
so are you saying our setup is not viable?
In reply to camos
I never said that.
If we were winning it would be a West Indies team, check the message board to see whose team it is.
In reply to openning
It was done not only in the Clive Lloyd era but
Before with Kanhai Sobers and Wes Hall
The coming through of our players in a tough first class
Competition and when pitches at Sabina Park and Kensington Oval
Separated the men from the boys
In reply to dayne
We had but the infighting caused the administrators who love the game to step aside because since they moved to one island one vote the WI structure has dissolved.
We had 3 pitches that made a series exciting. Kensington, Sabina and the QPO.
As a player you needed to know how to bat on 3 different surfaces.
Today all our pitches are batter friendly. DAEAD AND FLAT.
In reply to allan
I grew up watching the players mention, going to the Mecca as a kid was a joy, you get to hear people talk cricket.
So different to this message board.
In reply to rillo
Complete and utter bs
In reply to allan
Then you do not know WI cricket then. BS pleaase. Some of you think you know cricket. Instead you keep blowing out your backsides.
In reply to rillo
I actually was in agreement with you Rillo
Infighting killed the good administrators
And we dont need 1 island 1 vote rubbish
In reply to allan
You guy just dont understanding how playing county cricket, made our cricketer better.
These cricketer returned home, played club and regional cricket, and every batsman want to face the best bowler that Island had, and every bowler want to bowl to batsman.
Two players that development I from time to time looked at are, Basil Butcher and Seymoure Nurse.
These two were from humbling background, played only in the region, but was among the best batsman that played for the West Indies.
In reply to openning
No but before county we were still very competitive
In our cricket - even playing in the leagues but Sir Frank
And other dominated good bowling in the Caribbean
From British Guiana to Trinidad and Jamaica
In reply to allan
Sorry for the disparaging remarks. That is not who I am . Sorry again.
In reply to rillo
No worries this board isnt for the faint of heart
In reply to allan
Everything change, with countries making sports part of development.
England knew by allowing West Indies players to play full-time in England, it was for the benefit of the West Indies cricket.
The CWI/WICB has not put together a structure, which continued the learning player like Clive, Viv, Dessie, Gordon, Malcolm, Roberts and others received.
In reply to allan
Agree that administration needs a change ......but at same time if one looks around world... Indian cricket administration under Supreme court...Sri Lanka and South Africa under State... Pakistan under perennial disarray.....West Indies immediately needs overhauling of team management....Since World Cup performances have been abysmal....it's not that we were world beater but we were improving... winning overseas specially test....
In reply to openning
Why can't the CWI hire a sports agent to get our players into english cricket? Maybe not 1st division but the other leagues. Lara played in a different league.
It will only help their development. The coaching will be miles ahead of what is on offer in the WI. Their FITNESS will be improved and they will learn what it is to be a professional cricketer.
That will only help in the development of the player.
In reply to rillo
You have to be a KOLPAK player to play in England
In reply to openning
Is that the same for the Durham leagues etc or 2nd and 3rd or 4th division also? Not sure is why I am asking.
In reply to rillo
Several Kolpak players will move to overseas contracts

In reply to allan
Er no. They play most of their games at home. NZ sometimes goes years without touring outside. And when they do travel....they are beaten badly. Look at their recent series in Austrakia, they were just as uncompetitive as we are right now
NZC have a structure we dont
They have good sporty pitches and coaches
We have neither how are we to produce good cricketers
Honestly this is painful
In reply to allan
No they dont. Good sporty pitches that are as useful as our FC tournament when they travel. Beaten badly in india, australia and NZ. They just play more matches than us. And most of those at home. Despite being a much worse team than NZ, the WI have travelked more than NZ
