Poor sympathetic soul...he has no clue! There are many other contributors to our failures, but this is true. Jason Holder is a fine young man and diligent cricketer. He is however NOT a leader of men. Moreover he does not have the strategic acumen to lead an international team with the composition of ours. Jason is still a scared boy in a man's body. The captaincy was foisted upon him. This is why he is most comfortable with his Bajan boys around him.
Did anyone notice the energy and body language between he and DaSilva when they were batting together? He has no clue how to strategically get batsmen out. Absolutely no creativity. New batsman in .....same defensive field. He bowls when he should not. He almost never reads the game correctly and will stand in the slips swinging his hands nonchalantly when he should be spurring on the team as other leaders do. It IS NOT within him.
The team's failure to a large extent is because of his unfixable inadequacies / poor strategy and nonexistent inspiration.
Jason should be retained as an allrounder in the team but the captaincy should go to Blackwood - if he can remain productive. Chase would be worse than Jason. It is a MAN thing.

I agree with your assessments, it is amazing how slow a learner Holder is when it come to being strategic, does he learn anything from Pollard when he plays under him, does he learn from noticing the other International captains he plays against? The WI team results will not improve against the top teams as long as he continues to be how he is.

it's time to start developing these players earlier like jaden seales and the under 19 players train them earlier and pinpoint any technical issues they have in their bowling and batting before they get to the international arena. and correct them a lot harder to do when you are in your late 20's and thirties and are accustom to certain bad habits like a lot of these wi players are,if some of these guys had someone to correct their deficiencies at a earlier age who knows

This is an Islander speaking, Thank god for Andy, Viv, Richie and Curly, who made the teams better.
What Happened to the Windward and Leeward tournaments, if the other islands cricket is bad, can you imagine the quality or lack of cricket being played in each of these Islands.

Opening!!! I have read some of your postings on this site and they are often reasoned. I am however quite disappointed that you think my handle means I am from the smaller Islands. You then proceed with the disgusting cynicism crippling our discourse at so many levels. I am not from those Islands, in fact my handle more positively suggests a Caribbean identity. Stop the juvenile behavior.

Bro, my point still stand.
Collectively we dont have infrastructure to develop a solid team.
The GCA has been in turmoil for some time, The JCA has very programs in place, TTCB and the BCA has not develop a structure where players can develop.
Surly I was wrong seeing Islander, and going after the name, but collectively we do have a developmental Cricket problem in the region.

I am totally in agreement all your opinons here. I have been preaching the same thing for a while now

We have been telling ourselves this for YEARS as if we fear to accept the truth. All what you mentioned is not enough because we simply do not have the talent. Talent is not developed from the youth level, talent is not recruited from the youth level. For years we have tried coaches came to the Caribbean to help our senior players in all areas you mentioned and yet the results show we still fail miserably. We do not have enough talented capable players, far less for any world class players to be considered world beaters. In the end the talent has to be developed at full potential from youth level so when these players reach senior level they already are equipped and ready and don't need a coach to teach them how to field properly, how to catch properly, what shots to play when different situations arise..I can go on and on ..

yet we must admire players like Gabriel and to some extent Blackwood who have been willing to raise their standards to a higher level mainly by strength of will. Why cant the others also do this?

Agreed!! Lets push together for improvement!!

Some of the problems the WI have are being too laid back with their competitiveness, the captain has to show more intensity, creativity, be more inspiring to get more effort out of his team.

Could there be a more obvious cry for help?

Maybe you need to bat first sometime so your players don’t think that you think they are losers. You know what I mean?
