DHAKA, Bangladesh (AFP) — A message from former captain Clive Lloyd has inspired stand-in West Indies one-day international captain Jason Mohammed, he said Thursday ahead of a three-match series against Bangladesh.

In an open letter, the 76-year-old Lloyd urged members of the depleted West Indies squad to take advantage of the opportunity, reminding them of their selection for the series on merit.

"It is coming from one of our greats. Obviously, those are the sort of things you want to hear," Mohammed told reporters at a virtual press conference in Dhaka.

"There's a lot of negative talk going around. When you hear someone like Clive Lloyd, he puts a great belief within you.

So players are aware of former players.
This present management group at CWI, dont seem to have a plan for the future.
It seem they hell bent on getting rid of everything associated with DD, without having a 5 year plan.

The current crop of West Indies cricketers are deathly afraid of test cricket. Yes, they can go out there and swing a bat and use brute force to yam a few balls to the boundary in T20, but when it comes to things like test cricket, they are lost. You see, anybody can use their muscles and hit balls over a boundary. But in test cricket it takes more than muscles. It takes brains. This is what the West Indies cricketers do not have. And because they know their limitations, they try their best to avoid test cricket and therefore are seldom available to play for the West Indies. And what better way to avoid it than to try to play in every T20 game in every country and make some money in the process.
Test cricket requires intelligence. It requires the ability to figure out situations and play the game accordingly. It requires looking at the state of the game, the position your team is in, the physical conditions, the kind of opponents you are playing, etc. And this is over a five day period. West Indies cricketers lack the capacity to do these things. In T20 you don't have to think. All you do is fling bat at ball. You don't even have to be consistent. Everybody knows it's an "if a ketch it" approach, so when you swing and miss and get out, no problem.
Unfortunately, there is little or no hope for the West Indies to change this. The current school boys who bother to play cricket, have no decent role models. The only people they see are some greedy guys who can only play T20 and make money. So, as far as test cricket is concerned, West Indies cricket is doomed! So, Clive Lloyd, don't waste your time.

I do not agree to rhatid. Where is the development program? Where are the academies?
After you get these up and running, if we still cannot produce test cricketers, then is time to pack it up!
