WI lacks strategy

I watched the recent ODI series between the WI and Ban and as bad as the batsmen were, the strategy was even poorer. How can one select a ODI team with only two specialist bowlers and expect to win? If our batting is bad then padding it with more bad batsmen will not make us win games. Even if the batsmen made runs, who was gonna defend those runs when we didn't play any bowlers? Why was Joshua Da Silva dropped from the ODI team when obviously it was an opportunity to develop him.

Now I am following the 3 day practise game and I am seeing where Kavem Hodge batted ahead of Da Silva in both innings instead of ensuring that Da Silva gets as much batting time as possible given that he is gonna play in the test matches and Hodge won't.

The WI does not plan and strategize well and that is a big part of our problem.

I agree that the WI does not strategize or plan properly, I agree that Dasilva should have played all the ODI's, even if they wanted to rest him from wicketkeeping, he should have played instead of Ottley in the final match, as he is the future. Also the ODI team could have had more forward thinking strategy, two players that are just twenty three years old, that were in the U-19 World Cup winning team, with first class averages better than Ottley and McCarthy ( both Ottley and McCarthy are in their thirties) should have been selected to prime them for the future, those two players are Carty and Athanaze. I am really disappointed with the job lead Selector Harper is doing.

What position you think DaSilva will bat at?
Did he not had time to bat in the first inning?
You have a number of batsman missing from the team, Hodge, Bonner, Mayers and Moseley are competing for batting slots.
The wicketkeeper slot is #6, not 3, 4 or 5.

Maybe they do strategize and thats what they came up with! Harper and Simmo got to go, the cricket director must answer

Da Silva batted at number 7 in both innings for your information. And Hodge not competing for anything. He will not play in the starting 11. Bonner, Mayers and Mosely are the obvious front runners having gone on previous tours and not played. The smart thing to do would have been to ensure those who will play in the starting 11 get the best opportunity to bat and bat long. That's not an opportunity which was afforded to Da Silva if he bats below a batsman who will not be selected in the final 11!!!

The team went into the practice match, with Brathwaite, Campbell and Blackwood positions assured, thats why Hodge, Bonner, Moseleyr and Mayers got the chance to bat.
DaSilva is getting plenty reps at seven in the second inning, he has face close to 100 balls so far.
Dasilva gone for 45

Our strategy is to keep looking for big strong fast bowlers,we will never forget those times when victories brought us so much happiness.Four prong was our elixir.
