Da Silva If There Was...

Raggs 2021-02-12 19:36:42

a Windies test skipper in waiting, well I'm still waiting to see one more obvious than him.

Coach Simmons only moved all day from his seat to clap Da Silva in when he got out on that record breaking chase. Which by then sealed Bangladesh fate.
The director of cricket Jimmy Adams goes out his way to ring him up quite often to check on his progress and give advice.
The Kiwi legendary cricketer Ross Taylor advising him to take the single for his maiden test fifty and Da Silva refused it, still he shield the last tailender from the strike and still got that half century.
Twice so far in this series come in to play a part in telling batting partnerships to wrestle the upper hand from the opposition, calm cool head....etc...etc..

imusic 2021-02-12 19:48:06

He way too inexperienced. Strike 3

Remember, he’s only on the team because the incumbent was injured and had to leave a tour due to personal reasons

Once the incumbent is fit again for duty, Da Silva returns to the bench.....unless he makes the team as a specialist batsman.

Raggs 2021-02-12 19:49:39

you really see Dowrich seating this yute?

Barry 2021-02-12 19:53:36

Da Silva is not white. Unfortunately he is of Portuguese descent but he is fully Trini
confused

Raggs 2021-02-12 19:54:13

So you think Dowrich walks back into this team after we saw him fall apart in England and Da Silva stand tall in New Zealand and Bangladesh? Music what drinking man? Lol

What is white? Is Tendulkar white?

cool

imusic 2021-02-12 20:04:23

In reply to TyTy35

Dowrich was among the best batsmen in the team before the England series. He certainly looked the most organized and got lots of plaudits on here as a result.

In England.....and to a lesser extent NZ....he had real difficulty with the short ball. But so did most of our batsmen.

Had he played here in Bangladesh, it’s unlikely he would have had similar issues.

He’s currently a better wicketkeeper than DaSilva and from the little I know, he has a good attitude.

DaSilva has been impressive since his debut, but if Dowrich is fully fit for the Sri Lanka home series (assuming that’s still on), I see him coming back into the team as the wicketkeeper. Perhaps DaSilva then is selected in the starting XI as a specialist batsman.

BTW....I have zero issues if Da Silva retains his spot as wicketkeeper ahead of Dowrich. I just feel an incumbent shouldn’t lose their place due to injury.

velo 2021-02-12 20:05:29

In reply to Barrywell nobody would say tendulkar is white unless he start taking them bleaching creams that indians love to take

WIForever 2021-02-12 20:05:57

In reply to TyTy35

The kind of illogical crap I read sometimes. Dowrich afraid of short bowling. Da Silva dealt with the short stuff easily from top class kiwi bowlers. A no brainer who stays.

Do you know that bajans did not make the team on a regular basic in 2000- 2015 and Jason was the first appointed captain from Bim since Sobers. Not counting the odd game that Gordon or Dessie captained.

In reply to imusici like dowrich but his performances on the last two tours have been awful especially with the gloves.it's time the wi start putting standards on performances you see the same situation with bairstow and buttler in england .bairstow lost form and buttler took over the gloves

Remember when Captainceee borrowed the captaincy from Sarwan after Sarwan injured himself diving in futility to stop a boundary only for Captainceee to refuse to give it back? lol

tc1 2021-02-12 20:19:21

u argument is so narrow, and seems to be indicating that since Da Silver is white and non -bajan , he will not be captain.

We are not living in 2000-15, but we have 5 times the amount Trini captain to bajans in the period of 2000-2020.

I'm a big fan of Dowrich, but he didnt just struggle with the short ball in England, he looked amateurish, and was a walking wicket. You could see that he was struggling mentally because of his batting form, his keeping was scrappy and he put down chances in England and New Zealand before he left the tour. The replacement came in and has done enough behind the stumps as well as fought hard for his team. There is NO WAY Dowrich can come back in this team without a full season of first class cricket behind him where he scores heavily and shows that he has overcome his short ball issues, to even sugest Dowrich can come back into this team at the expense of Da Silva is beyond dottish lol lol

Raggs 2021-02-12 20:25:17

the irony is because he's white the powers that be may say that position for him ain't right.

Too early to look at DaSilva for captaincy, has he ever captained a first class team yet? Take the example of Holder, he had all the credentials to be captain but so far on the job he has been disappointing.

Was it Da Silva that was chirping a bit behind the stumps earlier?

Competition for places is good. I'd stick with Da Silva as he has done nothing wrong so far. Dowrich can try to regain some form domestically.

That weather in Vancouver can do some serious damage to one's mind. Especially when you don't see the sun for approximately five to six days.lol lol

Beautiful city/province tho!

I cannot boast on Alberta any more, we are the laughing stock of the country.
A buddy when ice fishing on the lake, beautiful to go fishing, four hours later, they could not see anything, it took them another 6 hours to get off the lake.

In your dreams.
Dowrich will have to fight for his place. Not because he was behind the stumps means he will just walk back in the team.
He now has to hope Da Silva goes on a bad patch the minute he comes back otherwise I see a "towel' in his hands.
