After 2 weekends of competition I believe KC will prevail but we are not as strong as the last 2 years.
What is working for us is that CBar is shaky and JC is not as deep as they need to be to beat us.
It seems we got Mr. Rahnsomn Edwards to sort out the hurdles just in time. We got Vachaun Vascianna as a bonus.

Heads, off topic-- sorry. But since I see you... A couple years ago you had asked me if I knew how some location in Ja came by its name or some such question. I promised to see if I could find out but that was one or two hard drives ago, so now I don't even remember the name of the place. Do you recall?
Somebody inducted me into the FB group Beautiful and Unique Places in Jamaica (BUPJ), which has some quite knowledgeable folks I can ask. The page is wealth of data for rear gems and esoteric info.

Gimme-me-bit?
In reply to Drapsey
No, Draps. And neither was it Land-of-Look-Behind, Me-no-Sen-Yuh-no-Come, Arntully Gap, Jubba Hill nor Congo Piece either. LOL.
But I don't want to subvert Headley's thread.

We back in business.
Man,very surprised we landed Vascianna. Never crossed my mind.
I think we will prevail like you said but we have to organize carefully. JC look like they're on a mission to dethrone us,and I dont think those characters from up the street can match us.
I have been watching the JAA meets to see how we stand but too little to grasp right now.
Boo and Vas our top represents so far. No Stennett nor Kerr.
In reply to JayMor
Jay I must admit I cannot remember the place but the name will come back during the next day or two. When the context clicks the name will come.
Sounds like a good FB group to link too. I must admit I have decided to keep a low social media profile. I actually have a FB presence which I use only for instant Track and Field gratification. I never post. I only keep updated on T&F matters.
I will check out the site.
In reply to RoyalDad
Yes sir. We back in business. There are a few gaps especially in the middle and distance races. It just so happens that is where JC is strong.
JC has 2 good sprinters in class 2 - Mark Anthony Miller in first year and Christopher Scott. Those 2 will keep us off the top step in the 100m and 200m.
Youri Lawrence has run 10.71 this season so he may just separate them.
Youri also has hurdles duties so it will be interesting to see where the coach decides to put him.
Stennett jogged a 11.03 at JC yesterday so we have to wait and see. Kerr seems to be in recovery mode.
Boo is presently our second best sprinter behind VV and our best long jumper at 7.40 ft.
In reply to Headley
I hear you re FB and social media. I hold them at bay as much as I can too: a little FB and some Viber and WhatsApp for int'l calling.

Have to keep monitoring what's going on. The year gap has thrown me for a loop.
However, saw some of our class 3 runners and they look very capable.
Anything on this weekend??

Any news on Chambers? Matherson.?
In reply to RoyalDad
Champs still on despite coronavirus?
In reply to RoyalDad
No news on Chambers, Matherson, Morris or Pinnock.
No news on the Class 2 record holder from STETHS either.
In reply to mikesiva
Not definite because the Covid situation is worsening day to day. In the meantime Qualification Meets are being held to make sure athletes are ready and qualified.
If Champs is held it will be with less athletes (reduced rounds) and no spectators.

Checking the GC Foster meet.
Looks like Yourie pulled up. Not good.
Otherwise the guys did well.
Saw Kerr win 200 and teamed with Stennett to win 4x100.
Class 3 look suspect.
JC meet had all our field athletes.
In reply to RoyalDad
Kerr ran 22.33 which was a slow time. He won because the field was ordinary.
I hope Youri is well because he is the key to our class 2.
Our Class 3 is not as deep as 2019 or 2020.
As I noted last week we're not as strong as last year. JC could be a treat. CBar will come third. Unless they pull a miracle I don't see how they beat JC.
Athletes expected to excel
Class 1 - Vascianna, Stennett, Boo, Ralford Mullings, Devontie Archer, Taj Hann
Class 2 - Mark Anthony Miller, Derrick Grant, Aaron McKensie
Class 3 - ???
In reply to Headley
Class 2.
What about Emmanuel Rwotomyia
Antonio Forbes
Deashaun Grant
Jemmings??
Our hurdlers look competent 100/ 400.
Like you I think JC tough competition.
Just a little US college flavour.
Kemba Nelson won 60 dash. Grant 3rd.
Ackera Nugent crushed the field 60m.Nugent is good.Former Aggie student.
Charokee run 3rd / 400.
In reply to RoyalDad
Rwotomyia may get to the finals. If he does he may surprise with a 4th, 5th or 6th because he is very strong and by the 400m finals 3 or 4 finalists are very leg weary.
Forbes looks like he could get to the 400m finals. The owner of the class 2 boys 400m gold medal is Derrick Grant (Ferncourt) whose name I listed above. There's Desaun Gordon (Charlemont) who will also be in the top 3. Forbes could make top 3 in the 400m hurdles. Diego Stewart from KC and Forbes are about the same in 400m flat and 400m hurdles.
Dusean Grant from KC is in trouble. Physically he is not able to cope with the demands of the 400m workload. He cannot sprint and he is probably too short to do 800m. I feel it for him because he was a good prep school athlete and he was our best 400m class 3 in his first year in class 3. It's tough to realise that the promise cannot be fulfilled. 2 years ago he was beating Forbes and Stewart with ease.
Jennings is just like Forbes and Stewart in 400m flat and 400m hurdles but a little slower. I am hoping Forbes, Stewart and Jennings improve and surprise me. They are in a rivalry to represent KC and only 2 of the 3 can do so.
Yes our hurdlers are competent but only V V class 1, Youri class 2 and Jaydon Taylor class 3 look dominant. All the others look good and should be in the top 4.
I am wondering if our best polevaulter Andwele Shurland who looks good for gold has transferred to Petersfield?
Thanks for the College updates. Women are looking really good.
Men are falling back. Carey Mc Leod and Damion Thomas excelling.
In reply to Headley
Thomas won a tight one. Lemonious ran 4th.
In reply to RoyalDad
Harder to make the Ja team as a hurdler than the US team.
In reply to Headley
Yes,for both men and women.
Williams.Nugent.Anderson. Etc.
Meghan Tapper tries hard but should convert to 100,but here again she in trouble.
Look at the lineup.
Shelly,Elaine,Briana,Kevona,Kiara,Jonielle,Natalyah,Christania,Kemba,Ashanti.
Have you ever seen Ja with a lineup this powerful?Did I leave out anyone?
In reply to RoyalDad
a non KC post! finally i can comment. Anyway. Havent hear of her running lately. What is the latest with her? i know she was good for 70 meters then trips over herself.
In reply to rudebway
This one time I will indulge.
Christania is actually doing good.
Running some decent 60s indoors.
In reply to RoyalDad
Shelly,Elaine,Briana,Kevona,Kiara,Jonielle,Natalyah,Christania,Kemba,Ashanti.
Have you ever seen Ja with a lineup this powerful?Did I leave out anyone?
Brianna Williams, Morrison, Christania Williams, Kemba Nelson
In reply to Headley
I just used first names. But this has to be the most powerful Jamaica womens lineup we will ever see.
Saw the race with Kemba over the weekend where she crushed the field.
Ofcourse they were promoting TT but Kemba put an abrupt stop to that. She is very good.
Looking forward to this week's events.
In reply to RoyalDad
JC dominant in distance races
This JAAA link is slow. It will take 15 seconds to open.
In reply to Headley
Great.
Yes,JC look like a dangerous threat.
In reply to RoyalDad or Headley?
is the sentiment on the ground that they will have Champs in May?
no fans? limited fans? (not sure how they would enforce that)
i attended the last 8 or 9 champs. i miss the rush and the excitement
In reply to rudebway
They cancelled Gibson so it does not bode well for Champs. The infection rate has climbed dramatically so I don't know how they can control situation.
Champs no spectators possibility.
Headley any thoughts??
In reply to RoyalDad
ISSA president Wellington has put the best spin on it.

Because this is an Olympic year and the big names have strongly expressed disapproval about the lack of track meets I expect the meets to continue. If the meets continue for senior athletes I suspect they will for junior athletes too - without spectators.
Seems we just edged JC in the Corporate Area Meet.
1) Kingston College 480.5
2) Jamaica College 464.5
3) Calabar High 378
4) Wolmer's Boys School 167
In reply to Headley
I assume a lot of the top guys did not participate.
Track Alerts made mention of that.
As expected JC on our tail.
I think our class 1 guys will keep us ahead of them overall. Too strong.
Did Stennett run the 4x1 and pull up at the finish?? Not good.
Also Kerr pull up in the 200!!Again,not good.
In reply to Headley
Good showing again.
Class 1 very good,also hurdlers.
No Vascianna.
In reply to RoyalDad
Eastern Champs cancelled.
Ominous.
In reply to mikesiva
Could be. Let's see how it plays out.
KC look good in drivers seat though at corporate meet.
MVP Florida Camp
Bloomfield running 20.75 in 200m
Looking forward to seeing what he has in 400m.
Nothing from N Allen, C Taylor and J Francis so far.
In reply to Headley
Good run there by the bigman.
C Taylor ran indoors and set a Jamaican indoor record while running second in 400.
No news on Allen and Francis. Our talent pool is slim.
In reply to RoyalDad
You may be surprised by National trials. There are Demish Gaye and Terry Thomas who ran really well at WC in 2019. There are a few other promising athletes who like Gaye did not star in high school but are looking like they could make a breakthrough.
Keno Burrell 46.93 and Troy White 46.94 at Velocity Fest on Mar 20. It's not unusual for 400m men to take off 1 -2 seconds between Feb/Mar and May/Jun.
In reply to Headley
Will be watching. Our 400 group has ability to compete with US,Trinidad and Bahamas.
In reply to RoyalDad
Good to know Chris Taylor is fit. Hope Francis is the same.
In reply to Headley
agree. any action from Jevaughn mattherson? i have been watching the meets the last few weeks at the stadium and the men are underwhelming. Mattherson popped in my mind because i saw Stephenson and Tyreke Wilson. Seville looks good, Stephenson looks on the rebound, tyreke wilson looks like a spent force, Javaugh Minzie looks like the he is a shot putter. (i think it was minzie).
Sachin Dennis actually ran with the big boys and did well. hopefully he isnt still planning to go to the Bahrain or whatever. I cant believe oshane Bailey is still winning races, but good for him.
havent seen odean Skeen or Kemar Bailey Cole. Michael Ohara probably doesn't run anymore. who knows.
In reply to rudebway
I suspect you mean Michael Stephens
Can't find anything on Matherson. No mention on the FSU website. He must be injured.
Oblique Seville is the only one looking good right now.
In reply to Headley
Matherson ran twice this year both 60M.
Ran 6.79 at Tyson invite and 6.88 at Clemson invite.
DNS at Atlantic Coast. Presumably hurt.
Seville looks like our bright spot until Chambers resurfaces. What's up with him?
Forte is injury prone...from Wolmers days.
Michael Stephens won a race the other day but needs to vastly improve to be considered.
Sachin we're waiting to shine..just a little.Ran the big boys and ran 4th to Hughes,Seville.
Ladies just dominant right now.
In reply to RoyalDad
Pity about Matheson. Need to check but I cannot think of a schoolboy in decades except maybe Tyreke Wilson who won the 100m Class 3 and managed to win the 100m Class 1. Maybe burnout, maybe bad coaching. It needs investigation.
Normally we would have 2 or 3 good college 100m candidates but not this year.
A lot a Ja athletes should be at the April 10 meet in Miramar Fl.
In reply to Headley
Matherson should just sit out and regroup down the road.
From Champs days got injured and still suffering.
In reply to RoyalDad
I am beginning to think that junior athletics may be over for this year in JA.
In reply to Headley
well.. school is over (in person school is over) , so i think school athletics are over. Would the athletes just go to school to train? well, thats what they normally did anyway, but thats a different topic.
thats why i had asked a few weeks ago what was the word on the ground about champs
In reply to rudebway
Yuh painting with a broad brush. Maybe yuh trolling?
This year at NCAA and NJCA it was clear that hundreds of Jcans well known and not so well known, are using athletics to get an education and in a few cases making athletics a profession.
Wind aided but I believe it's still the fastest time by a Jcan female athlete so far this year over 200m.
In reply to Headley
me? troll?... nah. yes it is broad brush but no one is picking on KC. as a matter of fact, it was the other school whose stars rough up the teacher and mek him know a track man run tings.
In reply to Headley
Big run by Kemba. A former CAST student, like Elaine. Future looks bright.
In reply to Headley
Matt is a quality sprinter. Hope he gets it together going forward. Would hate to see him not get to his full potential.
Miramar Yesterday
Our runners did not do much but considering how few races they've run in Ja it's not surprising. The US based Jcans were disappointing.
Bloomfield failed to finish his 200m. He ran one good 200m in college (2018 I believe) and has not run a good 200m since. Seems my dream of a world beating 400m relay team will remain a dream.
In reply to Headley
Champs approved for May 11-15?
In reply to Headley
Wondering why Bloomfield keeps running the 200.If I remember correctly,he suffers injury doing these shorter distances. Bad injury this looks like.
Champs on.
In reply to RoyalDad
he posted that he was fine and that his MRI showed no damage, so that is good news. he and KBC need to be bubble wrapped. you are correct. it is probably better he does 400. he made the finals last WC but if i recall he ended up in lane 1. he should keep at it.
In reply to rudebway
On top of that he and Allen were stand outs at Auburn. He lost the college final to Norman with Allen 3rd.
