I want Shai Hope back on the test team
In reply to Chrissy
He is not a wabt with the bat.

In reply to Chrissy
Me tooo.....man is pure class
In reply to Chrissy
Well he can force his way back in by scoring heavily in the Regional 4-Day(assuming it happens)
ODI and test cricket are two different animals...
In reply to Chrissy
He was rightfully removed from the test team because of a miserable last 2 years. He has to earn his test place.
In reply to Chrissy
A full class season please. I want him to eat, sleep and dream red balls.
In reply to Courtesy
Last 37 test innings
In reply to FanAttick
He was rightly removed but I hope he tears down the regional four day and forces his way back on the squad
In reply to FanAttick
We have to be honest. Shai was dropped from the test team because of an abysmal last 2 years. He has to earn his spurs.
And Shai is me boy.
In reply to Courtesy
Jermaine Blackwood was dropped after a series of low scores...3 years later he fought his way back in as the leading run getter in the Regional 4-Day tourney...he is now our top rated test batsman @#31 in the World...
Have to agree with Fanashit here. Let him work his way back into the test team.
Hope was dropped from the test team for lack of performance. He doesn't just walk back in based on ODI performances. If that was the case then Lewis, Pooran and Hetmyer who also does well in ODI should equally walk into the test team. We all know Hope can bat and he looks pretty on the eyes when he bats well but he cannot be a teacher's pet here. He does not deserve a place in the test team at this moment. He got a long run and he didn't cement his place. Other players like Blackwood and Brooks did not get as much chances as Hope to make a mark in tests. They were dropped as soon as they failed. Hope's test average is no better than Ramdin's for heaven's sake and Ramdin was not a front line batsman and he was criticized and dropped because of his batting as his keeping was always the best in the WI. Why should Hope be favoured? Let him work and earn a test recall like Blackwood had to do.
With the 4 day tournament to come I'd allow Shai to play before I bring him back in test. That will do him and WI cricket a lot of good
In reply to Chrissy
He should not have been dropped in the fuss place.
In reply to b4u8me2
Statistically you have covered it well I do feel though he has somewhat redeemed himself.
In reply to Chrissy
That boy is CLASS ....he head and shoulders over all rest of them....give it time...he will show all dem doubters.
I would slot him back in the team, but it's not going to happen, not right now at least.
They'll give him some 4 day games to show his wares.
What he needs most is a country contract. 2 months in England will be ideal for him
In reply to Chrissy
He will be a good no 3 or 4. Steady accumulator. Why they make an excuse to drop him in the first place is bewildering.
In reply to rillo
To be fair, he really batted poorly for over 2 years. A lesser player would have not been given that long a rope.
In reply to rillo
An excuse??
Lol
His performance got him dropped
I think Hopes problem was no FC cricket other than tests... so a domestic season should help. Id like him eventually back as an opener... as there is a clear vacancy.
I want Marlon Samuels back in the test team.
That boy is class, pure class!

In reply to TEMPER
There is no one on this thread doubting him. They all want him back.. They just want him to win his way back and not just have it handed to him. He is to me the best bat so as they say cream rises to the top.. so let him prove that.
In reply to Chrissy
i agree but! as an opening batsman stability at to of the order is very important
In reply to FanAttick correct 2 different formats BUT class is class, he does not make his runs swiping away. Most glorious cover drives to behold. Shai must be in the Test squad.
As stupid as the selectors are sometime, thank god they aren't a stupid as some of the posters make themselves to be on this thread.
Presently, Shai Hope is Windies best batsman. He should be serving us both in Test and ODI. People who know about cricket, speaks about a good batman as one who has class, patience and makes good jugement. The Windies should be well served by this young man for the next ten years.
In reply to Andy99
Some of the selectors may be posters.
In reply to WIForeverWhere is Hope going to play a full 1st Class season? NOT in the C'bean as that would prove very little, it would have to be elsewhere eg UK, Aus, India, NZ, SA? Where were all the great products of C'bean 1st Class Cricket when we were in NZ? CWI sent a 2nd 11 to Bangla, a tough tour, and they did better than expected. Maybe the selectors need help with detecting class, attitude and application.
Shai Hope has not done a fitness test in over a year but because he makes runs in ODIs he is now in the mix again for the Test team (despite his abysmal Test record) yet his fitness is not an issue when they bleat on and on about fitness. Hetmyer made plenty runs in the Super 50 yet his fitness is apparently the big issue and he gets dropped from all formats. No one can tell me these so-called "selectors" do not blatantly discriminate!
It probably helps that Shai is also a "yes" man like Jason, while Hetmyer is not.
In reply to Judgement I too am concerned about the politics in and personalities in the CWI. Batting ability is more important than being the fittest person, since U cant teach the fittest human to bat that easily. Hetty disappointed me with his outs / attitude in the trial match recently, I would like to know the inside story on what is really going on. We all know the nonsense that caused problems for Darren B, a man who was expected to be a top batsman for years to come. Players need to be helped physically and psychologically in addition to coaching on technical aspects. Everyone should want both Hetty and Hope to be in preparation for places in the squad asap, both have significant batting talent and some flaws that need a lil work.
Shai Hope will soon be back in the Test team as one the premier batsmen .I personally would have drafted him into the Test Squad .
However , I cannot fault the selectors , he needs to earn his recall with solid performances with the red ball.
The problem I have is that his very poor performance in England was mainly due to his inability to handle genuine fast bowling .Wood , Archer and others give him a lot of problems to him .
He could not negotiate the bouncer ( closed his eyes while hitting it )and the short rising balls also caused him a lot of problems ,and his indecisiveness when playing outside the off stump ( did not appear to know where his off stump was)
It is baffling to know how he opens in ODI with such a terrific average .
Well, in one day you cannot work out a batsman because a bowler is only allowed to bowl a maximum of 10 overs .
Having said the above , Sri Lanka has one genuine fast bowler so it might have been advisable to him because he is by far one of our better players to spin bowling .
Further my advise , in Test cricket for now he should not bat higher than No 3 until he work out HOW to play genuine fast bowling .
I just hope the regional fast bowlers work him over with the short balls because this have become a very prominent chink in his armor. Get some kind of control over this and runs should flow.
In reply to Andy99
I changed thread to Rum Shop for you.
In reply to Headley
Yeah thats more appropriate.
In reply to FanAttick
True. But if he scores well for the President's XI in the warm up match, he could force himself into the second test.
The test squad is for the first test only.
In reply to Trinidave
The test squad is for the first test only.
Which part of no vacancy dont you understand?

Barring injury, the same 11 will play both tests.....
No more chopping and changing...glory days are here again...
In reply to FanAttick
Well he can force his way back in by scoring heavily in the Regional 4-Day(assuming it happens)
ODI and test cricket are two different animals...
Completely agree with this!

Campbell is still very much NOT ah batsman. His spot is always open.
Bravo has not performed well in tests either. His spot is not ah certainty.
In reply to Trinidave
Regardless of what happens, yuh think they will drop Campbell and pick Hope as an opener for the 2nd test when Hope was dropped for lack of production in tests and hasnt done anything since to force his way back into contention for the longest format?
