One of the greats....Michael Holding described him as the greatest batsman he ever saw...scored tripple test hundreds against New Zealand and Englsnd in the early 1970s....problem was he couldnt score runs abroad....ruined his career by joining rebel tour to South Africa.

Lawrence Rowe was a prolific, elegant Test batsman who made batting look easy. However, I agree Rowe's biggest problem was his inability to score Test centuries abroad. If he had scored Test centuries abroad the way he did in the Caribbean he would have been held in even higher regard.
He was so elegant that the bakeries in Guyana honored him with a special Homemade Bread.
In reply to TEMPER Yaggs made a test century in Australia, the others were in Ja, Bim and Trinidad. I think he made a Kerry Packer century also down under.
Rowe had issues in places where the ball swung, even in County cricket playing for Derbyshire he did not do well. His gracefulness was outstanding and he was a prolific scorer when playing in the Caribbean.

In reply to camos The best I've seen, in terms of technique, style, grace and helegance.
Forget the pass look to the future.

If you forget the pass you are bound to get tackled.
