HEADLINE: Ready or not, Brathwaite takes charge

Barbadian journalist Anmar Goodridge Boyce says that while the replacement of Bajan all-rounder Jason Holder as West Indies Test captain did not come as a surprise, he feels that one Test series was not enough to determine that his replacement and countryman, Kraigg Brathwaite, is ready to assume the role on a permanent basis.
The announcement was made Thursday evening before the second One-Day International against Sri Lanka in Antigua and ahead of the first Test, which starts on March 21. Brathwaite only served as captain once, during the West Indies’ tour of Bangladesh earlier this year.
Boyce, who writes for Nation News, says that Brathwaite’s performance during the Bangladeshi series warranted consideration, but thinks that one Test series was not enough to give him the role full-time.
“I don’t agree with appointing Kraigg solely based on his exploits in Bangladesh because if we are being honest, Bangladesh is not high on the ICC rankings and had not played cricket for an entire year,” Boyce told The Gleaner. “[But] Kraigg winning the series in Bangladesh with a group of inexperienced players made him the perfect option. The board wants results and Jason wasn’t getting them, and it’s their responsibility to make a change when they see fit.”

Plenty words and absolutely no sense. On the one hand but on the other hand.
So if you do not replace Holder with Brathwaite now, if you do so after Holder has captained 10 more series and you replace him with Kraigg it is still only 1 series i.e Bangladesh that you will be using.
I would love to hear Mr. Boyce's response to this!!!

In reply to Dukes leaders should lead, Holder went to England yet declined Bangladesh. No surprise here, totally warranted.

Should Pollard have been relieved too on the basis of his declining to tour Bangladesh after having toured NZ?

Wazzup Bro.Long time.
Holder was very disappointing as a leader. He is far too passive.Seemingly incapable of adjusting to situations. If something is not working he is fearful of trying something different. When you are a leader you have to be fearless.Fear is the biggest cause of poor leadership.

Is Kraigg fearless or are we just replacing one fearful leader with another?
My candidate for fearless test leader is none other than Shimron Hetmyer. He nah fraid Harper nor CWI

I think Kraigg getting the captaincy is based on a 2-pronged reasoning from the powers that be.
1. Jason chose not go to Bangladesh, leaving the team in limbo and the tour in question.
2. Kraigg showed real leadership qualities on the field, especially in his filed placements - and he won both games and the series.
The message here is two-fold from the board:
"While we understand the reason for your refusal to tour Bangladesh (Covid-19), you failed to show leadership required at that time and consequently had some of the first tier players follow your lead not to tour.
Additionally, success must be rewarded and we see no reason at the moment to change the current leadership that has done so well in Banglasdesh in the recently concluded series"

Jason was under the microscope from way back even in courtney Browne days. I remember they going off on a tour and Jason being told buckle up or else.
I guess they couldn't find the else until now Kraigg grabbed the opportunity.
It cannot be for not touring as the CWI explicitly said there will be no recriminations
