Congrats to Hope on his achievement as an ODI cricketer but Test cricket continues to be his challenge.
In a spirit of honesty and not becoming emotional, what are the reasons why a player performs well in ODI but fails in Test?
I know Orville Higgins on his sports show was trying to explain the reasons but I am still confounded.

IMO, he try to be perfect playing test cricket, playing too correct and not making the adjustments when late in playing a stroke.

Hope for me remains suspect against express bowling. All our batsmen these days, with exception of Holder, struggle against short balls but that dont mean they cant handle pace. Saw Dowrich play a boss innings in Dominica test against express bowling from Starc and Hazelwood. But Hope also seems jumpy against quick pacers even when they are pitching ball up. That has to be mental but he wont thrive in test cricket until he gets over it.

Some very valid reasons, I guess WI coaches have to design a plan to help Hope with his Test batting approach.

He needs a country stint for 2 months

I have heard it said that the red ball swings more that the white ball and so Hopes problem is centered around that.

But for Hope to score 2 centuries back to back against ENG in ENG with Jimmy in the line up makes me question that.

what did Orville say ?

Agreed, he needs to get a contact to Aussie, England, or NZ to improve against top bowlers . Playing domestic cricket will not help him , he will dominated easily

I see both Hope and Bravo on the President XI team, captained by Chase, so this is a big match for many demonstrate that they are ready to play test.

Test cricket is the ultimate test and longer format of the game. Its not just about talent but being able to concentrate for long periods. ODI and T20 is just phony stuff for a limited time.

Maybe Hope became bored now he is re-motivated and re-energized in his mission to regain test selection but would also have to demonstrate consistency in test performance.

Perhaps they should refrain from hooking and pulling until they're set and seeing the ball as big as a breadfruit.
