Newbie in the house...Alex Jordan

Yep!
You don't have to be a former West Indies player to be a good commentator....

Congrats to the young lady....lovely pleasant voice
Heard her before
Didnt she do a lot of interviews during the Super 50 ? Or was that the year before T20....
Not the first I'm hearing or seeing her

CPL veteran
Bajan sports max personnel
But is she as knowledgeable as Ms Selman, or are aesthetics more important?
In reply to armchair
She has a more cultured accent. I am sure you have heard of her father Dr Oscar Jordan who has since passed
In reply to armchair
I thought Ms Selman did a fine job and is extremely knowledgeable about the game. The gold standard is Isha Guha, being knowledgeable about the game while sounding sexy.

In reply to suddenI know who she is and she has been present particularly at CPL events etc, but not as a commentator of the game more involved in the peripheral activities around the game. She is quite eloquent and generally knowledgeable but I did not understand her to be an "expert" or one to speak about the technical parts of the game and play
In reply to armchair
She is not the "expert " comments person, she is more the ball by ball commentator.

More cultured accent
Interesting
What made Shakira uncultured?
Diabolical
In reply to Halliwell
Polished vs unvarnished (real)
In reply to FuzzyWuzzyBut don't you want someone who can speak to the nuances of the game and what they see evolving as opposed to saying pleasantly what you are already seeing? Doesn't mean you have to play the game at a first class level etc (ie Cozier, Reds, etc). Nothing against her but am disappointed that the preference to her over Shakira is based on matters other than competence.
Personally I have nothing against the way Shakira speaks and beleives she will get better with time as do all of us when we start a new activity.
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
Exactly
So Real vs Fake then...
In reply to FuzzyWuzzy
Shakera's coach Courtney Walsh is the one who knocked her out of the booth, not Jordan who is more of a replacement for the Irish guy who did the Super50s
In reply to armchair
Not only the CPL, she was part of the T10 crew in Saudi.
Thats why you pay agents.
