If the standing umpires are no longer calling no-balls shouldnt the batsmen be afforded the luxury of a free hit next delivery?
Even the fraction of a second that the batsman would get in the event of a no ball call would potentially allow him to swing with gay abandon....in the current setup the batsman is losing that advantage and the bowler is only conceding the extra..

Is it time for Free Hit in test cricket?
In reply to FanAttick
Yeah I think so, or introduce a 3 strike policy per bowler each innings.
1 NB = 1 Extra.
2 NB = 2 Extras.
3 NB+ = Free Hits.

Good suggestions
I can even go with 2 runs for every no ball for simplicity.
When a batsman doesnt score off the free hit, the bowler gets away and I dont think it was meant to be like that...

Am I free to hit you?
This is TEST cricket, keep de 6 or out cricket in its place.

I've been saying that for a while. I've even suggested WI implement it in their 4 day competition to lead the way.

Please to leave the purity and sanctity of the holy, blessed, and untouchable test cricket format alone.
