TriniD likes dese 3 newcomers. Dey don't get phased or seem overawed. Dey may throw way dey wicket every now and den, but generally radiate confidence, no matter what de situation is. dat is good. Very good.
It is ah small sample-size, but Nkruma becoming Mr. Dependable.

Bonner, Mayers, Da Silva

Good youths indeed like their temperaments

well said.
TriniD not advocating fuh Blackwood tuh be dropped, but when you see his adrenal approach. Sometimes he's too high.
Dem yuute come een, and dey approach de game wid de same way. Bonner and Da Silva, are more defensive. Mayers defensive, but he does not let de bad balls go by, so he puts more pressure on de bowlers. But again, same level approach, and they are getting results, which builds confidence.
Just think that if it wasnt for COViD, these 3 talented batsmen would be at home listening to the match, while others are failing??

This is true.
3 good players with strength of mind and character.

adversity brings opportunity..

Seems we were being fooled by flashy pretenders. Better to pick players with heart.

They are tacticians at the crease. I really enjoy watching them torment bowlers...
They are new and bring a fresh confident approach. The test is really what happens after they get worked over by Anderson, Broad, Cummins, Rabada Bumrah.
Will that calm confidence still be there.
Roston Chase used to look calm and relaxed back in de day and had like 5 centuries.
Let's see how tough this trip will be in 2 years.

Didnt Blackwood give Anderson and Broad a working over during the England series last year?
In reply to Trinidave
I like Mayers approach.
He bats. Doesnt just block
Hes been a bit lucky tho so needs to tighten up a bit. But every batsman needs some luck.
Bonner is solid. His temperament is his biggest asset
Da Silva is very organized
Wishing them continued success.
The various teams are rebuilding confidence which is the first stepping stone for success. The region has an abundance of talent, harnessing, managing and providing support for improvement of those skills are the difficult steps. This requires exceptional desire by management and coaches. In my opinion the development of a front line wrist spinner is a requirement to provide opportunities to the team on various pitches. It appears that chemistry is building within this team. We will not get to world beaters overnight. It is a process where patience is required by all vested parties. Not all the present players, coaches and management will be there for the full journey, they will all play an important part.

Of the three, Mayers is de most exciting because of his approach. And yes they've had some luck, and we must recognize that these are lower tier teams. But still solid teams, against whom we've struggled in recent times. That first innings partnership between Joshua and Jimbo was huge for the posture of de game.
Kyle and Nkrumah was huge. Level headed play.

indeed .......blackwood could learn from them. this kinda devil-may-care cricket he plays works when we are against the wall but when the situation requires serenity, he does not appear to be able to play that way......as yet

Yuh move on from JC now?
i like mayers and da silva but they have to learn going forward when you are in stay in and not give away your hand to nothing deliveries when you got the opponents on the ropes.how diferent this match could have been if da silva had not played that uppercut when he was batting with cornwall they might have put something closer to 400 or mayers not chased a wide one on day four they might have been in a better position to force a win
bonner has been the biggest suprise for me except for that 1st innings lapse in this series hehas looked like a quality batsman considering people were questioning before bangladesh if he should be in this team because of his first class average

TriniD tinks dat people say after de fact, dat yuh shudda leff dat bad ball alone. Da Silva's shot was poorly executed. TriniD don't tink it's ah poor shot. Blackwood plays dat shot well and scores heavily from it. Bad balls are there tuh be hit. Mayers out tuh ah bad ball, but it was there tuh be hit, eeef he had moved his feet.
TriniD watches highlights of Lara, Richards, Lloyd, Fredericks, Greenidge.. Dem fellas beat bad balls, sometimes wide balls too.

Them man of the past danced more. What passes for dancing with this generation is feet planted ...
In reply to Trinidave
Didnt like how Da Silva got out playing a silly shot over the keeper...or trying to.
the other 2 Bonner and Mayers i see progress ...batting under pressure on last day.

Blackwood reminds me of myself as a school boy batsman. Always scored runs against the best bowling when others failed (In New Zealand, England and Sri Lanka), but failed on the easiest wickets. Got out pre meditating the shot most of the time. An anxious batsman with frequent blood rushes. At his calmest when everyone else is failing.
In reply to FanAttick
He did, against one of the top four teams in the world. Maybe he has lost a bit of form since then??
In reply to Trinidave
The 3 of them should be getting rewarded with red ball contracts whenever they get awarded.
