Brazilian Variant found in T&T Population
The Ministry of Health has detected the Brazilian Variant of Concern (P1) in a member of the local population. According to a release, the sample was taken from a COVID-19 positive patient in the Nariva/Mayaro County. “The contact tracing required to restrict the spread of the virus has already begun.
Additionally, the public is reminded that all quarantine protocols remain in place to ensure the continued protection of the people of Trinidad and Tobago,” it said. It’s the first time a variant of concern has been found within the local population
Deyalsingh: Massive increase in cases, post-Easter spike occurring
A massive jump in reported COVID-19 infections yesterday is a “post-Easter spike” and likely caused by the increased activity and mingling over the Easter weekend.Health Minister Terrence Deyalsingh confirmed that the 134 new COVID-19 cases reported yesterday were a direct result of the Easter weekend.
He described the new figures as a “massive increase.”“Up until yesterday, the rolling seven-day average was 61 cases. This 134 has pushed the rolling day average to 77. That is a massive increase,” he said in a telephone interview yesterday.

This is what I don't understand!! A minster boasted that 55,000 traveled between trini and bago over the easter weekend and he praised the port and CAL. Now that the COVID EXPLOSION HAS ROCKED THE ISLAND they are blaming the citizens. Man it so sad!!! But hey: I WILL NOT DIE FROM COVID BECAUSE COVID IS NOT REAL!!!!

11 new covid19 cases in Tobago
The Division of Health, Wellness and Family Development on Tuesday announced 11 new covid19 cases in Tobago.
The cases took the active total on the island to 30. One person has been discharged.
Covid19 cases on the island have risen sharply since the Easter period when the island experienced an influx of visitors.
There were 12 active cases on the island prior to Good Friday.
