Rampanalgas community grateful for donated devices..Tablets
Five months ago when Guardian Media visited the community of Rampanalgas for our No Child Left Behind series, when it was revealed that many children in the village did not have devices to attend their online classes, as families were unable to purchase devices.n many instances, one device was being shared among several children who were in different classes in a household.“Every day it was like a burden, a stress,” Rampanalgas resident Nicole Roberts said.Despite the devices, connectivity still remains a problem.Ali said while over 90 per cent of her students attend classes daily they sometimes drop off classes due to the poor connection.
Roberts said this resulted in students like her grandson not logging into virtual classes and instead participating in other activities to pass the time.“All the children and them change up because they use to be on the road, every minute you see all the children on top the hill, come down the hill and they head by the beach,” Roberts said.
The situation changed completely in the community after their story aired and good Samaritans across the country donated tablets and laptops to their families.“Since he get he device, every day he is present in class…I just thank God allyuh (sic) come our way,” Roberts said.Minutes before Maraj spoke with Guardian Media, she said the principal of the Rampanalgas RC Primary School called her and congratulated her on her son’s performance in term two.Principal Naina Ali said the donations led to a turnaround in the mindset of families in the community and she has seen vast improvement.
“I now have a working village, my children are trying their best,” Ali said.Back in November when Guardian Media reached out to Digicel’s public relations head Colin Greaves about poor connectivity in the area he admitted that there was limited infrastructure in Rampanalgas.
When we last visited the village, Crystal Maraj was worried about her son’s education and afraid that he would be left behind.

Foreign currency sales down 25% for January to October...
MULTIPLE importers and manufacturers whose products are sold on the local market are complaining that the availability of foreign exchange to pay for imported goods is approaching crisis proportions.
“We would know it’s a crisis when importers begin to close down their businesses and declare bankruptcy. We are not there yet, but we are heading in the wrong direction,” one director of a large importer told the Sunday Express.
“As foreign currency becomes less available, our regular sourcing and merchandising of imported goods may be affected in our clubs,” said one of Trinidad and Tobago’s largest importers, the membership warehouse club PriceSmart, in a notice on its Facebook page on December 3.
And Scotiabank warned the holders of its business credit cards last month of the introduction of further limits on foreign currency transactions to a maximum of US$500 as of December 1, 2020.

Days you called me all sorts of names.

The same person, mind you, who claimed that BLM should not be questioned about their use of funds unless and until there is proof that they are misusing the funds.

a) He was certain that the man was lying.
b) He himself was not dishonest about needing proof before accusing others.
c) deriding others for similarly having issues with posters who offend them...i.e Norm stating, not a single posters whim, but a consistent supply of drivel is hurting the board.

1) there is no law that states it is illegal to identify yourself as a donator.
2) There are Politicians who use tax money to do what is needed then attach their names to it.
3) There are many private citizens whio donate and insist their names be permanently attached to the donation or what it wroughts.
