HEADLINE: Barbadian three no longer contracted to Cricket West Indies

CaribbeanCricket.com 2021-05-03 15:42:22

BARBADIANS Roston Chase, Shane Dowrich and Shamarh Brooks have been axed from the list of contracted West Indies cricketers.

Investigations by NATION SPORT reveal new central contracts will be announced this week following a meeting of the Cricket West Indies (CWI) directors on Zoom last Thursday.

Sacked Test captain Jason Holder has retained his contract while his successor, Kraigg Brathwaite, who was previously stripped of his red ball central contract, has been reinstated.

One-Day International wicket-keeper/batsman Shai Hope has kept his white-ball contract, along with his captain Kieron Pollard, who also leads the West Indies Twenty20 side.

Heavy-set Antiguan off-spinning all-rounder Rahkeem Cornwall has also received an upgrade to his contract but compatriot Alzarri Joseph, got a small downgrade to his contract.

Did they really comment on his size???? shock

Dukes 2021-05-03 16:20:10

I assume that Hetty will not figure in these contracts.I would expect Sinclair and Seales to get Developmental contracts.

BTW who did Rolston Chase piss off???

Lots of adjectives used in that article

Sacked...
Experienced....
Attacking...
Left handed...

But they reserved ‘short’ and ‘fat’ for Dowrich and Jimbo respectively

I just have to shake my head sometimes at my people

He said "diminutive".

Chase, 29, has five centuries in 37 Tests since making his debut in 2016 while scoring 1 869 runs at an average 29.20. He has also taken 71 wickets at 42.29 apiece with three five-wicket hauls, including a career-best eight for 60 to help the West Indies defeat England at Kensington Oval in 2019.

Chase is a good player and should be in any WI test squad

5 test tons and 3x5 wicket hauls is impressive for any current WI player...but his averages are not that impressive,,,he must work on his consistency

How did the Yardies Blackwood and Campbell work out?

Good question, I think he has more variety in terms of Flight, loop n drift than Rack-man and so will fare better on benign pitches.
his awful drop in form deserved a drop but he should be around the squad.

Brerzerk 2021-05-03 18:11:59

In reply to Narper Regarding just batting- Chase has played the same number of tests as Jermaine Blackwood who has passed fifty 16 times with two tons
and a 30avg. compared to Chase's 13 times past 50 with better ton conversion rate. You see the dissimilar flaws in both have them ending up in the same zone?

Did all of our pacers get contract downgrades? Roach, Joseph,...

Conorboy 2021-05-03 21:06:30

Think Roston made a poor decision in not touring Bangladesh, conditions would have suited both his batting and bowling.
He was also just made vice captain as far as i remember.
Would have captained the side and came back a hero ( maybe)
As he is seen as really only a test player you cannot let opportunities slip.

Clearly Dowrich has other issues but he has been a great servant to WI cricket and i hope he comes back better and stronger.

Brooks took a big gamble not going on the tour, it backfired.

I agree with you, Chase should be in any Windies team.

dayne 2021-05-04 03:08:52

Out of all the players that lost their place, Chase is the one most likely to get a place back in the team, Blackwood have to start being more consistent as that is the position Chase is most likely to take.

Blackbird 2021-05-04 10:43:12

In reply to Casper Chase should be in every test team if you don't want to win ..
Why are we so caught up with mediocrity

Exactly, he would have been the Test Captain now...funny how life works sometimes. I am also of the opinion Brooks would have made runs on those dead wickets in Bangladesh. Instead of grabbing opportunities, these guys gambled and lost.
