West Indies opening batsman, Kieran Powell, admits he is looking forward to an opportunity to cement his position in the squad having recently earned a recall.

The 31-year-old left-hander was named among the final 13-man Test squad that will compete against South Africa.  His selection marked a two-and-a-half-year absence from the team, despite some believing the player to be among the region’s top talents.

“I’ve been out of the team for two and half years now and I’ve counted each month I was not on it,” Powell told members of the media.

Cannot see him making the final eleven, so he will have to stay in the cement bag for now.

I guess if somebody gets injured or sick, then Powell could get a game. I wish him well. He would not have been in my 13 man squad. IMO Bravo is a better batsman. Unfortunately, both individuals have history of issues outside of playing the game. At the end of the day, what’s the difference between Bravo getting out caught 1st or 2nd slip, or Powell getting out caught at 3rd slip or Gully? .. the amount of runs they make ..

SELECTORS have sent the wrong message to Bravo. rolleyes
