HEADLINE: Consistency was key for Seales on hat-trick Windies debut

Debutant West Indies fast bowler Jayden Seales insists looking to maintain consistency was critical to his success, on a day when his hat-trick spell provided a rare bright spot on a tough start against South Africa.

The 19-year-old Seales ended with figures of 34 for 3.  His fiery response proved critical in ensuring the tourist ended the day with some doubts in mind at 128 for 4, some 38 runs ahead, and in command of the Test match early, but things could have been much worse.

“I just tried to remain as consistent as possible.  To try and create pressure and don’t try anything too different.  I do that and I get wickets,” Seales said following the day’s play.

That's what happens when you let football fans do cricket write ups

Reminds me of a cricket sports writer years ago covering the baseball games for local media using some cricket terminologies in his write up that did not go over well. I wrote the paper and volunteered to cover the Baseball games and the cricket, if he was not available.

He had a good first day of test cricket. Hope so called selectors don't destroy him like they destroyed so many of our young upcoming cricketers.

Talking about selectors destroying our players Daren Bravo, our best batsman comes to mind because selectors like Lockhart Sebastian destroyed him as a selector and now with his tongue on his Thursday sports program. Yet, Bravo in his 36 tests scored 8 centuries at an average of 35.00. Sebastian in his 92 FC games only scored 5 centuries and averaged 32 runs

Sebastian keeps saying Daren Bravo should not even be in the 17 selected because in his last 7 tests he is averaging 11 runs. That's true but see how New Zealand keeps persisting with Ross Taylor at age 37 and so many good players in New Zealand. Sebastian and our present selectors, the last 12 test matches, Ross Taylor has one high score of 70, an overall total of 237 runs and an av of less than 12!!! Bravo is only 32 and those that didn't do any better are destroying him and indeed west Indies players

He got three wickets the first day, it wasn't no Hat Trick if you don't know what's a Hat trick...He didn't get any wicket the second day. This South African team is the weakest ever, West indies is soo horrible they on the verge of losing the game within three days
