if we win the toss and send SA in, we still have to bat on the track.

Bat
i'm no expert but if you see a green pitch on the first day and there is forecast for likely rain interruption throughout the five days.common sence would tell you to field but this is wi cricket nothing makes sence

Im no expert but I can tell you after I walk up to the pitch and give a knock with my knuckles

Here is my non expert opinion.
If the wicket has moisture in it and it's overcast, bowl. The moisture will give the bowlers additional help off the wicket.
Furthermore, the overcast conditions will enable them to swing the ball more through the air.
Also, the overcast conditions will prevent the sun removing the juice in the pitch so it will last longer and help the bowlers more.
Moreover, if it's overcast there's a good chance the outfield got some rain and the ball won't travel as fast.
All these factors would make batting quite challenging if the bowling was in the right areas.
On the other hand, if it's a bright and sunny day and there is no moisture in the pitch, bat. The team batting last would probably have the worst of the pitch as it wears.

You can have an opinion or you can sit on the fence. I've given my opinion and I stand by it.
Be prepare to bat....SA winning the toss
how much moisture and or rolled in brown grass in the pitch?
is it green?
Is it try n look like it will crumble (WI still insist on two 'slow bowlers' in the squad)
I could answer if I had these questions.
We foolish enough not to see that Maharaj is a far better quality spinner than both ours combined. And, with good quality pacers capable of taking wkts. on any surface a foolish gamble could backfire.

Pray for rain 4 days.

If Windies win the toss bat first.Dont trust the batters chasing a total batting last.
I would....
Sit on the fence and then criticize after days 1 and 2
