Basic skills needed for batting.
I might add, watch and learn from the current Indian batsmen on this pitch which is so helpful to the bowlers.

I was thinking about doing this
type of analysis, myself.

Good coaching especially at an early age will infuse these skills.
This is really good strategic and consistent bowling by the Kiwis. A high level of batting skills are needed to survive this bowling.

Somebody should copy this and place it inside the West Indies dressing room because they lack patience. Some of our guys bat as if they are in a hurry and have to catch a plane.
Are these skills though or skills and competencies?
Thanks for actually listing what you consider skilled

If I find the email of our Head Coach perhaps I can send it to him.

I am glad that you asked the question and therefore put yourself in a position to get a lil' wiser.
Skills are the specific learned abilities that are required to effect a job well.
Competencies, on the other hand, are the person's knowledge and behaviours that lead them to be successful in a job.
One is based on ability the other, is mainly knowledge and behavioral.
I want to see the cut shots, the late cut shots...

Aren't some of your points then knowledge and behaviours?
Wouldn't batting with a purpose for example, and valuing your wicket be behavioral and not a learned ability ?
In reply to DIEHARD
I don't suppose you are as straight jacketed as your posts?
I'll give you # 13 but it can be rewritten to reflect an ability. You may wish to point out any other.
I will rewrite your concern not that it infringes the definitions..."Learn to bat with a target or small targets in mind."

Anyway let's prise out those on the list that do not belong...you go.
Shai Hope work out that we should bat with an off stump guard, and that should be the way to go against fast bowlers who swings the ball, our batsmen keeps edging and getting out. That guard should stop the edges which can cause wicket loss.

While that may be true it appears dat youngsters dese days are prepared to dispense with all of that coaching for the clear the front foot approach that is so popular in the shorter format, on the basis dat they can hit the ball harder and further, even though it leaves them extremely vulnerable to the short rising ball and under edges on to the stumps from balls thrown wider.

On second thought, it might not help.
