What's up With the Barefoot Groundsmen?
In reply to Walco
That thought crossed my mind! Sammy and the Zouks need to step up!
In reply to Walco
Ken Crafton wants to guarantee the guys don't spike the covers with their shoes. I can assure those guys come to work with their shoes.
Many of them live miles away from the ground.

I am not suggesting that they don't have shoes. I am saying that everyone should should be wearing footwear just for the optics. There was a closeup of three groundsmen repairing an area on the square. One was wearing slippers/flipflops, and the other two were barefoot. That's why I suggested slippers or sandals in the lead post.
In reply to Walco
Noted and will take up the issue.
Choice? Doesn't present well to int'l audience though
In reply to Brerzerk
Don't international audiences have feet too?
In reply to culpepperboy
Swimmers, Surfers and MMA fighters go bare feet all the time!

Where is Mutabaruka when we need him?
In reply to XDFIX
Zola Budd used to run barefoot.
If that's what you prefer, then fine.
In reply to Walco
Bro if you see barefoot groundsmen that by choice.
Do really think the guys don't have footwear?
In reply to Courtesy
Courtesy pardner the guys live within a 1-2 mile radius of the ground
In reply to InHindsight
Yep but they wouldn't walk barefooted for a mile. But I understand the poor optics.
Luckily we don't have Khaja as a poster anymore.
He would certainly compare us to cavemen.

Some of you guys are so clueless. The groundsmen without shoes are the ones who actually walk on the pitch when they pulled the covers over it. Not wearing shoes, sneakers etc, is just a pitch protective measure. Did you not hear the explanation?
In reply to Star
Dude there are shoes for that purpose, have you seen that elsewhere? the workers actually dont have to touch the playing area, they hold the covers about 5feet apart.
Groundsmen to be sponsored by car companies:
Shoe-zuki
Mit-shoe-bishi and
Toe-yota.

I don't think slippers or Sanders should be part of a ground crew attire, why should the ground staff not provided with a uniform, even if it is cost plus ten percent?
This is ah hilarious thread. TriniD once taught in Moruga in de country in Trinidad. Some of de students came tuh school barefoot, by choice. De principal allowed it. TriniD's mother went tuh dat same school generations ago, and she said everyone wore shoes.
If the groundsmen can perform their job barefoot den, maybe it's okay. But there is some professionalism associated with uniforms and shoes. After dis long-winded response, TriniD tinks de fellas should be shoed-up.

Are you some kind of a jackass? They were asked about this and that is what they said.
