Very impressive bowls good pace and also the slower ball, tall and left handed, what is stopping this kid from playing tests? God knows our squad need a good lefty. What are his first class stats like?

Obed McKoy
In reply to TyTy35
It is v good. He could replace Holder or Joseph in the test side
In reply to TyTy35
He's the real McCoy.
In reply to TyTy35 & lefty pacers are always special.
In reply to sudden Replace JHO? Nope.
He's very good, always calm and composed.
In reply to TyTy35
Gabriel or Roach won't last much longer.
Preston McSween is a more impressive lefty for the longer version, he has only played 9 matches, 31 wkts at an average of 24, with 3 five wicket hauls, and a SR of 45.
McCoy has only played 4, with poor results, time will tell
Many times I come across as a crotechy old man who is always complaining but here are the facts.
McCoy instead of being groomed to play test cricket by having him learn his craft in first class cricket is off touring the world with the CWI white ball team.
He has played a grand total of 4 first class matches and bowled 69 overs with 11 maidens 278 runs for 6 wickets at an average of 46.33.
My point which is a broken record by now is that CWI has no plan to develop test cricketers and these youngsters can not refuse to play white ball cricket in order to develop their skills in first class cricket.CWI repeatedly schedules overseas tours during our first class season and even had a home series of white ball cricket during our first class season in 2019 followed by a white ball tour of Sri Lanka in 2019.
Damn I am beginning to sound like POINT!!!!!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
In reply to BeatDball
Exactly which is why I cant understand how a guy like McKoy or the other leftie McSween cant make the squad and were leapfrogged by Seales.

McCoy has no say in his development?
In reply to Dukes
Big facts keep making those points (no pun intended). Really surprising that McKoy has only played 4 first class games, thats a joke.
In reply to sudden
CWI: We want you to tour India with the WI squad to play ODI's and T 20 Internationals. You will be paid $20,000 USD for the tour and if selected for any ODI's you will be paid $2500USD and for T 20I you will be paid $1000USD
McCoy: I am more interested in my development as a test cricketer so I will represent my first class team for $200USD per match
In reply to Dukes
CWI: Well done, Obed. That was the right decision. We were just testing your commitment to self development
In reply to sudden
McCoy:I am lucky I am dating that rich fat lawyer in Bim's daughter so money is no problem.
In reply to Dukes
Dukes that is below the belt
But nonetheless,
CWI: you could have done better by marrying the billionaire Guyanese doctors son
In reply to sudden
Oops my hand slipped. Apologies!!!!
In reply to Dukes
No big deal, mine too
In reply to Dukes
McKoy bowled well, he did well in Asia last T20 season, many were impressed.
In reply to DIEHARD
McCoy is the REAL MCCOY.
The FACT that CAPTAIN POLLARD selected him to close out BOTH GAMES should tell you the CONFIDENCE the TEAM has in HIM.
He will soon be a FIXTURE in the ODI and TEST teams.
In reply to VINCYPOWA
Do you have any historical data to back up, what you are saying.
When he return home, is there a centre equip with equipment, where the young man can train, are coaches available to him, daily?
Another youth from the class of 2016!!!
In reply to Dukes
THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH WRITING
LIKE ME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My fear . is that HE will be discarded
by the WICBC/CWI . That has been its
Modus Operandi for Years .
Most Players from the Windward Islands
are always quickly discarded . One or
two matches and they are discarded .
That aint the case with Players from
Jamaica ; Trinidad & Tobago ; Barbados ; Guyana ; & the Leeward Islands .
Players from the Windward Islands have very short lives in playing for the West Indies . This is a fact not
fiction .
That being the case I do not expect him to be on the West Indies Cricet
Team for an extended period .
Indelibly etched in my mind is the fact
that Lords in the WICBC/CWI after making a century in Jamaica , Devon Smith went to Grenada , and while playing in a match He was struck
on one of his Fingers .
He was dropped , Now that would never
to any batsman in the Teams I have stated above .
I firmly believe that Mc Coy will suffer that same freaking Fate .
C'est la Vie .

You cannot continue to blame the rest of the region for the development of cricketers from SVG.
Where is the structure in the Island.
The BCA has the same problem, cricket has moved from the road, gully and beaches to clubs, without a structure for development.
Thats the problem Point..
The PM of Grenada was asked about the development of cricket today, he gave a political answer, by talking about getting back to schools and clubs.
I don't know how many world class cricketers has come out of Grenada.
CWI finish with Cottrell, any wonder why guy choose to play the curry goat leagues round the world?
In reply to VINCYPOWA
You apparently just started following
Cricket . So let me inform You that
the West Indies Selectors and and Sports Writers aint fond of Windward
Islands Players .
This is a freaking fact not Fiction ,
He might get a couple matches but he
will soon be discarded . The WICBC/CWI
is not fond of Players from the Windward Islands .
In reply to VINCYPOWA
With all due Respect , You probably
just start looking at Cricket . Let
me inform You that Players from the
Windward Islands have a hard time getting on the West Indies Team , than
Players from the Leeward Islands ;
Jamaica ; Trinidad & Tobago ; Barbados & Guyana .
Now this is a Freaking Fact not
Fiction .If by chance they get to be selected , they are swiftly dropped .
In reply to TyTy35
He got the injusry just as he was recongnized and identified.. that set him back. now that he is mended , he will get his chance .. I hope.
Mcoy has improved alot over the past few years he has gotten quicker and also has more control now I expect him to be a star in the white ball format and what's good to see he is willing to make the sacrifice to get better and improved

This!

Is that part of the new crypto speak these days?

I thought CWI follows the dictates of their paymaster, no?
In reply to camos
Cottrell was always a salute away from being put out to pasture, I would be more concerned about Thomas!
In reply to XDFIX
Don't deny that but surely more must be done to develop red ball cricketers.
Why do you guys keep mixing up the shorter version with the longer version of the game ? This might be one of west indies problem, you pick players for the test from players that consistently perform in the 4 days games and players that consistently proform in the odi-T20 for those games and stop doing the total opposite.
In reply to TyTy35
very, very impressive. thought highly pf him since the SL series
In reply to openning
You would not know them because THEY
were never given a Fair Chance .
Let me name a few for YOU !!!
GARNET NILES ; IAN NEVERSON ;
ALFIE ROBERTS . To be continued .

That is not true. Smith only made one test century in his career versus the english in 04. He scored a hundred in the 1st innings of the first test. He also played in the 2nd test of that series in QPO.
McCoy is class in white ball cricket. He should play more red ball cricket before we think about rushing him in that format.
In reply to DIEHARD\
McCoy and McSween Oh me, Oh my. Soon and very soon, they will make us happy.
I hope the selectors are taking notes.
In reply to POINT
Point from the time I could walk, cricket was my hobby.
But you moved the goal post from the top four and included the Leewards.

That aint the case with Players from
Jamaica ; Trinidad & Tobago ; Barbados ; Guyana ; & the Leeward Islands .
Point my brother, instead of blaming Tom, Dick and Mary, ask the SVG to invest in a cricket structure.
How come the Leewards produced four of the greatest cricketers in the region, after separating from the Combined Islands, and the Windwards is yet to produce one good International test player?
Barbados has not produced a world class test batsman since Dessie, who should I blame for that?
