Kirani James heads a six-member Grenada team to the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.

Two swimmers Kimberly Ince (100m backstroke) and Delron Felix (100m freestyle) have also been named to the team. The IOC awarded Grenada two wild card places for swimming.
More teams to be posted over the coming days....

Yes Iyah!
What time (Jamaica time) will we see live action?
It is a sad time for Bermuda as this will be the first Summer Games in many many years (I think 1972) without a T&F representative.
Flora Duffy should be a medal hope in triathlon, the other athlete selected is Dara Alizadeh in rowing.
Nicholas Paul!
World Record Holder!
remember the name

Only 30 persons with Covid so far. Spread the virus folks!
In reply to Chrissy
indeed
In reply to Chrissy
30? Your country had 3 times that today. Did you see the video with your BroGad at the party with most persons without masks and packed together like Sardines?
Any way this is Mike Olympics thread. Sorry.

Concerning
In reply to nitro
Hey, the football Euros and Wimbledon have already sent the UK infections above 50k a day, so it apparently doesn't matter any more.
One thing for sure. Because Japan have banned spectators, they won't hit 50k a day. At present Japan have only 3k a day.
In reply to mikesiva
listen you love you some track yes!!

BVI and others
Another Gold Coast 2018 champion, Kyron McMaster, is considered a dark horse to win the mens 400m hurdles for the British Virgin Islands. Just 24-years-old, he will have the daunting task of facing off against three of the four fastest intermediate hurdlers of all time, including the world record holder. McMaster has produced career-best efforts this season and will be eying a first-ever Olympic medal for the BVI. Like McMaster, long jumper Chantel Malone is the fourth-best in her event so far this year. Shes also been the most consistent over the seven-metre mark. With both events taking place in the same session, it could be a glorious day for the BVI. Swimmer Elinah Phillip will go in the womens 50m freestyle, whilst Eldred Henry has unfortunately been ruled out of the mens shot putt with an elbow injury.

Coco withdraws - tested positive= a n alternate on the US gymnastics team withdraws - Covid
Mike and I always keep things real. Spread our like you know who
In reply to mikesiva
I think his significant other's representing the US so he'd be there in some capacity. I recall his attempts to qualify were curtailed so it wasn't meant to be.
He carried the torch well after Brian Wellman (best finish: 5th in triple jump) and we have a youngster Jahnai Perenchief who has an NCAA silver this season.
In reply to mikesiva
tokyo olympics......bad idea
In reply to Jumpstart
You know what also was a bad idea? The football Euros! But they went ahead anyway....
Thousands of Brits who attended the matches in England have now tested positive for coronavirus. It's so bad that Londoners are calling it the Wembley variant (BBC London news, 16 July). Then there was this.
Do you agree with me that the football Euros were also a bad idea?
So, if a coronavirus superspreader event such as the football Euros could go ahead, so can the Olympics.
From the Stabroek link above:
"The Commonwealth of Dominica will have two athletes in track and field. Thea LaFond will go in the womens triple jump, and she will be eager to create some positive Olympic memories. Just days before Rio 2016, she sustained a hamstring injury, and was 37th and last in qualifying. Two years later, though, she rebounded with the Commonwealths first-ever Commonwealth Games medal, a bronze. Now 27, she has been in superlative form these past two years. No athlete from Dominica has ever competed in an Olympic final and LaFond will be keen to change that. Dennick Luke is the other athlete repping Dominica and he was awarded a universality place in the mens 800m."
In reply to TriniStar
Any medal predictions TriniS I say Keshorn Bronze(hopefully silver) 4×4 at least final women's 4x1 an upset medal especially if the Brits Merkans or Yard fill-up a change or drops a baton
looks like these new spikes will cause records to be under threat..I think that Bolt's are safe though..
In reply to Chrissy
Nuff respect, as always....
From the Stabroek link above, here's the St Kitts-Nevis team:
"Jason Rogers qualified to run the mens 100m for Saint Kitts and Nevis. The 30-year-old has tasted team success at the highest level, winning World Championships bronze back in 2011 in the mens 4x100m relay. He is in the form of his life at the moment, matching his personal-best mark from 2013 which puts him, along with Antigua and Barbudas Cejhae Greene, among the 20 fastest men in the field. (Greene has been a hundredth of a second faster than Rogers this year.) Rogers will be joined in Tokyo by Amya Clarke for the womens 100m and by swimmer Jennifer Harding-Marlin, who is entered for the womens 100m backstroke."
In reply to mikesiva
Was telling my parents the same thing. Twice the authorities at Wembley allowed the stadium to exceed the specified attendance limit of 45,000. And the UK has not seen the result of that. But by next week we'll see it. And their infection rate is increasing by leeps and bounds. Does not make the Tokyo olympics safe though. But i agree with you.
In reply to mikesiva
I see St. Kitts and was surprised Kim Collins wasn't on the roster. Now that fella had longevity.
In reply to Jumpstart
Totally agree with you on that. The UK are now feeling the impact of the football Euros coronavirus superspreader event, with about 50,000 new cases a day, and 96 died yesterday. What's slightly better for Tokyo though, is that spectators are banned, so we'll see how that pans out.
And talking about football, Olympic football starts today, with women's teams in action.
GB beat Chile 2-0
Japan and Canada draw 1-1
Brazil beat China 5-0
Sweden beat the USA 3-0!!!
From the Stabroek link....
"Greene, meanwhile, will be joined by Joella Lloyd for the womens 100m, and Jalese Gordon in womens laser radial. When Gordon hits the water, it will mark Antigua and Barbudas return to the sport for the first time in two decades. Alston Ryan will also be the only boxer from the OECS, and he will be the first entered by Antigua and Barbuda since 1988. Ryan, a featherweight, secured a place based on the IOCs Boxing Task Force Rankings for the Americas. Antigua and Barbuda will also have two swimmers Noah Mascoll-Gomes in mens 400m freestyle, and Samantha Roberts in womens 50m freestyle."
In reply to Brerzerk
I am not one who love making all these predictions. I just watch and enjoy sports.
But maybe two or three medals for T&T, same time if no medals are won it will not surprise me.

Keshorn Walcott
Men 4x400 Relay
Well America got their first whooping of the Olympics when Sweden whip dat ass very good yesterday in women football. Long gone are the days when US women football easily beat up other countries in Olympics. The competitive gap in that sport has been closed.
In reply to problemjay
The last team I could find....
"Saint Vincent and the Grenadines will benefit from three universality places. Shafiqua Maloney will be on track in the womens 800m. Alex Joachim will attempt the mens 100m freestyle and Mya de Freitas the womens 200m freestyle."
Men's football today....
Mexico thrashed France 4-1!
Egypt and Spain played to a goalless draw.
Ivory Coast beat Saudi Arabia 2-1.
In reply to problemjay
USA did not win the last Olympics. Germany won, Sweden was 2nd, and Canada was 3rd...you numpty!
In reply to JahJah
Captain Jerk Pork that is my point. LONG GONE are the days the US can roll over teams, it did not start yesterday. Sweden just emphasised my point by beating US in their FIRST match of the Olympics.
Once again the context of this discussion is way above your low IQ

In reply to JahJah

I bought an online package to watch all Olympics sports this morning. I nah miss nothing!!
In reply to problemgay
Nope! You would have lead with: "As evidenced in the previous Olympics (2016)..."
As low as you may think my IQ to be, I guarantee 0that it is quite a bit higher than yours, you glorified jackass.
PS: Who are the current World Cup champions (2019)?
In reply to TriniStar
Brazil beat Germany 4-2!
Australia beat Argentina 1-0
Japan beat South Africa 1-0
In reply to mikesiva
Kind of funny how "Team GB" can come together for Olympic women's football, but for men? Nope, no, nein, nuh-uh.
In reply to mikesiva
Dutty Mexico beat France.
In reply to mikesiva
must be a lot of excitement in Australia sports circles about this

In reply to TriniStar
Football probably the fourth most popular sport (if that) in Australia among football-like sports
In reply to bdaTryangle
It does not matter man Track is not popular in Australia but if one of their athletes was to win Olympic gold medals and break world records on the track it will be big headlines in their sports
Australia beating Argentina in football at any level will make headlines

How old are you?
I will bring you the facts. Track and Field is not popular in Australia
The 10 Popular Sports in Australia
1.Swimming. Swimming is Australia's most popular sport, with a HUGE 3.1 million people regularly involved in it.
2.Cycling. ...
3.Soccer. ...
4.Dancing. ...
5.Basketball. ...
6.AFL. ...
7.Tennis. ...
8.Cricket.

A male field athlete test positive in Jamaica, so he won't be travelling to Tokyo.
Carey McLeod?
In reply to TriniStar
Usually popularity is measured by the number of people that watch and not the number that plays, in the US soccer has the largest number of participants but NFL has a bigger audience.
In reply to camos
Surely you not trying to argue track and field is a more watched sport in Australia than any of the sports I mentioned above bring your support for that argument.
In reply to TriniStar
*Based on annual participation (organised out-of-school activities only for children 0-14; all activities for adults 15+)
Walking (Recreational) 8,783,064
Fitness/Gym 6,874,541
Swimming 4,505,531
Running/Athletics 3,334,693
Cycling 2,359,660
Football 1,767,288
Tennis 1,202,011
Bush walking 1,189,493
Basketball 1,017,968
Golf 1,015,150
but these lists are listing activities, not what people watch as none participants.
In reply to camos
Stay in lane with your argument. You provide a list based on participation from a child age group (young school children in sports) but you yourself wanted an argument based on what Aussies watch and not participate.
Where is your support for track and field being watched by majority of Australians and more popular than the sports I mentioned? Show me any reference from article with data.
In reply to TriniStar
Send me the info pls n thanks...No US link pls. Much as I am proud of Ato n Sanya mi Son's classmate they are obliged to spew US bias n propaganda
Anyway moving on with the thread topic on Olympics. I see on Team T&T page that T&T first athlete in action Felice Aisha Chow placed 4th in her heat and made it to the second round on Saturday Link Text

But maybe an option from this list is better for you Link Text
Just dont choose the NBC option so you wont have to hear Ato and Sanya nonsense
In reply to TriniStar
Where did I say that?
In reply to Brerzerk
Actually the only way to avoid the American NBC coverage is to go with my VPN option which will give you British coverage.
(I am assuming you want an English language commentary)
I cant stand American Olympic commentary!
In reply to TriniStar
I cant stand American Olympic commentary!
cosign. i still cant get the Dan and Dave decathlon crap out my head, and it was about 20 years ago. more recently, the 4 x 100 womens relay at the WC, the NBC coverage was amazingly biased and inaccurate. it is a perfect example of their modus operandi and bias.
i also dont want to hear about the Ingerbright or whatever they are called brothers.
In reply to Chrissy
Makes no sense.Putting sport and money over peoples lives.Another farce that politicians are elected by the people to carry out the wishes of the people. They dont. They only care about power and their own self interests.80% of Jap population dont want the games

I understand her sentiment below. Another Olympics is not guaranteed in an athlete career so she will go out and compete in the one that is happening now

China won the first gold medal of the Olympics this morning. Americans hoping that is not a bad sign for the final medal count
In reply to mikesiva
Luckily, Piers Morgan wasnt part of the casualty list. I am sure Meghan was praying for him.
In reply to problemjay
Did you see the score line in the USA women's 2nd match?
Japan beat Mexico 2-1 in mens football.
France outscored South Africa 4-3.
Interesting!
I won't panic if I was part of the US mem basketball team. At some stage the winning streakk had to end. It's was a 25 game winning streak. You not going to win every basketball game in history.
They just have to refocus and win the rest of their games in Tokyo
In reply to JahJah
Well I never said the US women football team was not good enough to win any games or not capable of beating down mediocre teams
Britain get their first gold medal. Adam Peaty retains his 100m breaststroke title.
Atkinson came third in her heat of the women's equivalent in 1:07.70 and didn't advance.
Japan doing well in the judo.
In reply to mikesiva
I was surprised to read that Atkinson never won an Olympic medal.
In reply to nitro
The one year delay didn't help the aging swimmer. Actually, a 2019 Olympic Games would have been just right for her!
I see a Japanese brother and sister winning gold in male and female, same sport event.

Abe was their surname?
Japan now leading the medal table with eight golds!
Great upset win over the top seeded Chinese in the table tennis mixed doubles.
A lesson for Jamaicans as well who expect the gold rush to continue.

But domination isnt sustainable. Eventually, the rest of the world catches on and catches up. And the athletes and coaches know it.
In reply to nitro
Huh? Dude, what are you on about? Jamaicans knew what was up when Bolt was set to retire. Nuff were hoping he'd delay the retirement. I'm sure you know why that is.
Jamaicans expect to always be there or thereabouts in T&F, not win all the time.
Stop being melodramatic. The only ones who need to heed the lessons are the Americans. Why yu think dem did gwaan suh when tiny Jamaica started to beat them consistently? Yu see dat one named Carla Lewis?
ha!
In reply to JahJah
Bro i see analysts on TVJ predicting 16 and 18 medals.
Only one on their panel named Hubert seem to be living in reality.
In reply to nitro
I am talking about people expecting to dominate forever, and you're talking about predictions for these particular games. Those are two different concepts.
In reply to JahJah
Americans know that as well. You guys just cannot handle the confidence and gamesmanship of Americans. Well you accept that behavior from the great Usain Bolt. By the way Bolt is more American now than Jamaican. America has captured Bolt as Jamaica di with Rhi Rhi Link Text

Ben Johnson - när sanningen hann ifatt
https://www.discoveryplus.se/program/olympiska-berattelser
He said Carl should have gotten the same exact heat and dismissal like Ben. He talked about how the Americans act like they were clean when they were just as bad as the Eastern bloc. Just later to the party.
Edwin Moses did his best not say anything about motor mouth Carla though. Is he a diplomat?
Same program Tayna Lawrence wondering where her gold medal is after Marion Jones and the Greek lady get dismissed. She got moved up to silver and they're leaving the 1st place blank.
In reply to JahJah
Charles Poliquin said as much about Carl Lewis and others in his book, The Poliquin Principles. That was 1997.
In reply to nitro
Yet Americans feign ignorance and allow Carla run shim mouth unabated. You don't find it hilarious how he continues to act like a paragon of virtue, knowing that he shouldn't even have that medal??
In reply to JahJah
He has no shame but the American media covers it up. Drugs in sports is big business and fantastic sporting feats bring more viewership which brings more advertising dollars and more income for the networks.
Why would they mash up di dolly house?

I see sports journalists mostly predicting that Jamaica will get 12 medals. That's what Jamaica won at the 2019 World Champs, so I'd be satisfied with that.
More here
In reply to mikesiva
they need to temper their expectations. they are probably counting hurdles and field medals that will not materialize (except Tajay Gayle).
I hope they don't mess up the 4 X 100 (W). Stay in your lane and don't drop the baton.
In reply to Phillip-3
the 4 * 100 women have the personnel to win the gold and get the WR. Unlike the 2008 team, they need to get the baton around. Briania to Shelly to Shericka to Elaine.

I would dance as hell if we actually win 12 medals.
Speaking of Caribbean athletes. I am surprised by Cuba not winning a medal yet. Usually they would win one by now in either Judo or Boxing or Wrestling

Luxembourg
Suriname
Meanwhile largest countries yet to win ANY medal:
Bangladesh (at over 166 million)
Dem Rep of Congo
Myanmar
Angola

It is said Warholm favours the outside lane. Wondering if this helps him to focus better. He doesnt get to see whats happening in the other lanes and so doesnt get distracted when hurdles get hit. Also with the wider turn he may be able to run faster. Its interesting that both the 400m flat race and the hurdles world records were broken by athletes running in lanes 8 and 7.

I haven't followed the European circuit at all since 2019.
But Jacobs did what he had to do and all credit to him. Can't recall the last
time an Italian win any races since Mennea back in the day 200m runner.
Bolt has left a void in sprints but had De Grasse got a start and Hughes not DQ
this race could have been different.
But congrats to the big guy,Jacobs. Should be fun for the the next few years to see
who really emerges as the top man. It's an open field which makes it good for Track events.

Gwenerally thye Americans do not appear sharp. As are other atheltes though it is more evident with numerous Americans.
At this stage I am willing to give athletes a pass as this is an unusual year, a 5th year Olympics and Covid.
Usually, American top runners make use the European Circuit during the summer but I don't think this was a case in Covid year
with travel and its restrictiveness.
Apart from US Trials and the NCAA earlier,Athletes in US does not have anything to compare with a domestic circuit
as with Europe. Perhaps this explains in part to the emergence of Jacobs as 100m main man, whereas Brummel and other US
sprinters looked jaded and appear to wear 'what I am doing here' looks . Un American for sure.;
I foster this as not to make excuses as all athletee face similar problems.BUT Covid and its variants
affect people differently.
I see the Schippers did not make it for 200m final..just another one that has fallen unexpectedly.
Yes, I am prepared to give Athletes much more slack this time around.
I wonder if Thomas is playing possum or if she is really in tip top frame of mind for the 200M women's final ?
In reply to mikesiva
Kirani James! COOKING
Kirani- nice
Men's 400m semifinal #1 wow Kirani JAMES is making a statement here..
In reply to FanAttick
Impressive
In reply to mikesiva
Yeah, SMU didn't look convincing, did she?
not at all. she should have done the 400. Nasir is suspended, and Felix is a shell.
how about Kirani? wow wow wow...i like that

Nice Chris Taylor - was not expecting to see you
Taylor through
In reply to rudebway
Maybe and could be but with her I would feel far more comfortable and secure
In reply to mikesiva
Christopher Taylor 2nd and into the finals..sweet
In reply to hubert
with her, we break the world record. Brianna to Shelly to Sherika to Elaine
I hope I am right too but she was on full throttle whilst Thompson had already shut off..
the men's 400m heat #3 is packed with some big names..Steven GARDINER, Michael NORMAN, Isaac MAKWALA and Wayde van NIEKERK..The American and the South African didn't look great in their heats to me..Norman, in particular, seemed to be struggling..this should be a blistering one as there is lots to lose in this one..Barbadian Jonathan JONES ran his heat surprisingly well and will have to run his PB if he is to make it through to the final..
In reply to Chrissy
so happy for him. Glad to see him and Jahleel Hyde making positive progress

van Niekerk out
In reply to hotarobin
Too soon for van Niekerk...he's been out four years, I think.
The moral of the story: don't joke around with rugby if you're a professional athlete.
In reply to mikesiva
I actually had Norman to falter before van Niekerk..
Gardiner looks great..

In reply to Chrissy
Taylor in the final..Now that is GREAT news. First objective achieved.
Wonderful.
In reply to mikesiva
Yes those are the top dogs..But I am so disappointed that no T&T athlete is in the final. That
is not good.
Was expecting Lendore to make it.
In reply to hubert
Cherry looks better than Norman. Hopefully Kirani and Gardner both medal
In reply to rudebway
1-2 would suit me fine although I want Kirani ahead. I can only hope and wish.
Mi a tell yuh - di racism at di starting line is blatent - di Norwegian should have been DQd

Maybe its only her that the rain fell on..anyway she did not make it.
In reply to Chrissy
yup..into the finals..
In reply to hubert
they should bring on the covers

In reply to Chrissy
I knew that she would have gotten a pass..she should have been DQed but maybe the pelting rain also helped her case..
In reply to hubert
Rain pelting down now...women's discus and pole vault suspended.
Hurdling in these conditions can't be good.

In reply to mikesiva
the Americans fixing to sweep the women's 400m hurdles..
In reply to mikesiva
Agree if it's pouring that much, hurdles should be suspended. It is dangerous. But I guess once they started and ran one race, they did not want to give
an advantage to others..decisions , decisions. I don't envy those in charge.
In reply to hotarobin
I thought the world record holder will win,. But a sweep ? Hope not
In reply to hotarobin

Yu care now eh? Not when the Italian wasn't sent off for treating the black kid like rag doll and slamming him to the ground.

That racism was even more blatant (times 2, even), but black kid played for ole blighty so...

An nuh bodda wid dat KYS bizniz, yu hear?

In reply to Chrissy
Yu gwaan. Yu know ah true.
In reply to mikesiva
How come none of allyuh commenting on the high possibility of a 200m upset if one or both of the Namibian teenage "girls" win???
Remember, at least Christine MBoma was poised to strike Gold in the 400m before they banned them from that event and relegated them to just the 200m.
They might be holding back until today.
Do not underestimate Uibo! I think she has something up.her sleeves and will only go full throttle in both her finals. The Caribbean men will make the region proud
In reply to hubert

Had to be carried off in a wheelchair.

AYYYEE! US women football team beaten by Canada in the semis. They were lucky to even reach this far. See my previous comments about the status of US women football when compared to the better teams in the world today
Hmm I made this comment on 07/27 and oh how things have changed for Cuba within a matter of four days.
In reply to Ewart
Christopher Taylor, unfortunately will not feature in the finals but I am happy that he made the finals..great achievement for him..
I will place my bets on Kirani James, Michael Cherry and Steven Gardiner with the guy from Botswana as the dark horse..call me crazy but I don't think Michael Norman will medal..
In reply to hubert
Has had asthma since his Calabar days.
In fact there was a big back and forth some time ago when the coach said CT did not have an asthma attack.
In reply to FanAttick

Andre de GRASSE..not so sure about him in the 200m
In reply to hotarobin

In reply to hotarobin
He mashed it up..This will stay for a long time,I feel.
imagine that these men run around the track and jump over hurdles faster than real women can run around the track without any hurdles..
As I said in another thread Warholm vs Benjamin is the race not to miss in this Olympics!
New World record and smashed by the man who has the WR!
In reply to rudebway
I still can't believe it .What could he run for the flat 400m ?
In reply to problemjay
You were right and still right. Goodnight.
In reply to hotarobin
faster than nathon allen and Rushout McDonald and others, but i digress. that was off the chain. that was epic.
In reply to rudebway
He can probably run a 43 sec 400m.
In reply to DukeStreet
When Von Niekerk did his stuff from lane 8 in Rio I said what di HELL did I just see??? This is something else, young RIA has already etched his name into the history books even though not winning. Marvelous performance from Warholm
In reply to hubert
Don't encourage him. You know why he was missing the other races.
Most observers knew the Norwegian was going to win. A foregone conclusion came to pass.

Neither BBC nor Eurosport showing this live. Instead, they're showing an overhyped GB boxer that they foolishly thought had a chance of beating the Cuban for gold.

Andre de GRASSE..not so sure about him in the 200m
Check for Aaron Brown, the other Canadian.

How many of you would know all these national anthems without sports?

Great race
Congrats to the gorgeous Malaika Mihambo of Germany.
Khaddi Sagnia once again fails. Di bumper is a hindrance?
In reply to mikesiva
it has to take something out of her for the 200 finals coming up. we will see.
In reply to JahJah
i see that you too have also been admiring the german representation. i agree with your statement, but Comaco Quinn leaves them all behind...

In reply to rudebway
She is one heck of a competitor though and I expect good run from her.
Hope it will fall well short tho
Warholm and Rojas. World records shattered in Tokyo. Dat mens 400m hurdles race will be remembered as one of the greatest races in Olympics history
In reply to DukeStreet
Man you told me your boy Rai would win
In reply to hubert
Hope it will fall well short tho
i just dont understand. Naser beat you at the WC, She is banned. the bronze medalist (Sherika) is switching events. Isnt the 400 an easier shot at gold?
In reply to TriniStar
To be fair, if you ran 46.17, you'd win every other Olympic 400m hurdles final before today.
Benjamin did well too.
In reply to rudebway
I feel you on Camacho-Quinn, but the receding hair line and the Italianish nose can't be a front runner for me, personally, much less far and away ahead.
I'd more go with someone like Khaddi.
All the Miller-Uibo doubters in here. I will be here to remind you guys she will be on the podium in both 200 and 400 events
In reply to problemjay
While you are here running your filthy mouth. Any thoughts on the 1-2-3 for a certain country?
In reply to JahJah
You are TRAUMATISED with MY answer for your 1-2-3 question for YOUR country. Grow up Jerk Pork, yuh lil batty boy
In reply to problemgay
Tell us about the worries a certain country was supposed to have? I see the 1-2-3 has traumatised you into loving up a White man.
In reply to problemjay
In reply to JahJah
Jah Jah now why go there? there was a white man swimming for Jamaica in Tokyo
In reply to TriniStar
Would you like me to be more specific...a white man repping EUROPE!!
In reply to TriniStar
Yuh see it...Jah Jah is not only a traumatised duncy head individual but also clearly a racist
In reply to problemjay
Me, racist? lol
Why? Because I highlight how you ignore acknowledging and congratulating 3 black women from Jamaica but drooling over a White man from Europe?
In reply to JahJah
We not focused on skin colour you duncy head. No wonder why you the beating stick fool in here
In reply to problemjay
You not focused on skin colour, you focused on hating a nationality, right dumbass?
Anyway, looking forward to this 800 Womens final. Mu is clear favourite but you never know
China continues pressure US on the Olympic medal table

Just think what the young Knighton can achieve if he takes the 100m seriously. Hopefully he is managed well
In reply to problemjay

nice run by de Grasse..made a statement but didn't do too much..

In reply to hotarobin
Not even the 17 yr. old who seems to be running better
In reply to hotarobin
I really don't see it..but anything is possible after seeing
probably the greatest race in Olympic history with Warholm and Rai Benjamin
resulting in both beating Warholm's previous WR only for the Norwegian to up his own
with sub 46.0, 45.94.Previous mark mwas 46.70.
Still amazed by that but privileged to have witnessed it

Mboma and Masilingi are both "intersex" athletes. It's going to be interesting to see how World Athletics handle their cases.
In reply to Brerzerk
Yu seeit 18 years old...Mmmmmm. Women ruling..and will be for long time.

Athletics medal table
In reply to mikesiva
amazed that anyone wouldnt see that coming and would think she would see the medal podium.
the good thing is this 200 should also weaken her a bit ( not much, cause she ran 24.) for the 400. Opens it up a bit for Candice McLeod and McPherson
In reply to JahJah
Maybe she is handing out the medals.
In reply to mikesiva
From 21.78 to 21.53..aint bad at all..
Seems the guy who wrote to The Obsever saying Francis/ Jamaica gave up their surest gold (Sherika 400m) for probably 2 bronzes was right
In reply to hotarobin
i assume your wording was deliberate

In reply to hubert
Warlord inna Stockholm.
Warholm.
I like it. I like it.
Tenks.

In reply to rudebway
the Dominican looking very good but did she run too fast too early?
In reply to hubert
Man you killing me..are you Warholm ??
I think not

In reply to rudebway
Better her than problemjay. He might want to kill the runner from "a certain country".
In reply to TriniStar
You think never. That's the problem.

In reply to mikesiva
Not a bad medal table despite the mishaps suffered by Jamaica.
It has been a lukewarm performance so far for USA but they have certain gold and silver in the 200M for men and 400M hurdles for women.
In reply to Brerzerk
i saw that letter too. interesting. Sherika would have done well in this 200 finals. BUt you have to remember, from Vere days she was a 200. maybe its her. it might be her Melaine Walker moment.
Captain Jerk Pork found a new friend in hubert to piss in his mouth now
Gabby robbed of silver and Shelly of bronze.
In reply to problemjay
In reply to problemgay
Now now now, don't be so stroppy. Throwing your toys out the pram isn't a good look.
By the way, how is your beau TranniStar doing?
hubert so you agree with Jah Jah and dont support Warholm because he is white man?
In reply to TriniStar
Well he is cheerleading so hard I can see Jerk Pork piss in his mouth so what you think?
In reply to hotarobin
huh? what race are you refering to?
In reply to TriniStar
Is only white people at the Games.? I won't get into teaching mode today except to say the Olympics
which you celebrate (do you ?) is a a white man's thing since 1896.
I done.
Well done to the 800 and 200 women medalists. Namibia 4x100 relay team will be interesting with MBoma and Masilingi
Well done to the 800 and 200 women medalists. Namibia 4x100 relay team will be interesting with MBoma and Masilingi
In reply to nitro and Bezerker
Elaine..first woman in history to win the sprint double in back to back olympics... she is in her own league
In reply to TriniStar
Show me where I said not to support Warholm? I can't wait to see this. I'm in Sweden. Warholm, from Norge, is a neighbour. Congrats to him. I highlighted something else but you are too stupid to understand it.
In reply to JahJah
So you do support Warholm? and recognize his achievement? simple yes or no
In reply to TriniStar
I recognise and applaud ALL achievements in T&F, unlike you and your boyfriend problemgay.
In reply to JahJah
So you earlier outbursts after Warholm won that epic race was simply immature. That was the race of the Olympics so far. That is the fact as of now and nothing to get in your feelings about
In reply to TriniStar
What outburst? Point it out.
Big up to Elaine. Stamped her class on this OLYs.
She repeated as 100-200 champion.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!
But two clowns refuse to see it because of the certain country she comes from.
In reply to problemjay
Hahahahahahahahahha. I pointed out your running and hiding behind the White man because of your hate for black Jamaicans.
MEK IT BUN YU!!
Edit:
You quick to edit your post. Running and hiding again!!
^^ Case and point
Meltdown in action
Woooyyy meh belly
Oh oh! It ill be pressure for a certain country at the Olympics
Pressure conquered.
Excuse me while I light my spliff.

In reply to TriniStar
Jerk Pork got in his feelings because how the event happened. His mentsrual cycle happened when I pointed out the reality and what the analysts were saying that the 400m hurdles race was the most epic of the Olympics and I said before this is race not to miss and indeed Warholm vs Benjamin clash lived up to the hype.
Now Warholm being white just triggered him into a worse meltdown because we praising a white athlete accomplishment
This is why I have to use this duncy head as target practice in here every week

Congrats to ET (JAM), Warholm (NOR) and Duplantis (SWE).
Jamaica and Scandinavia to di wurl.
Here's hoping TnT can join the party to relieve some of that pressure on problemgay's brain and heart.
In reply to mikesiva
Sweet jebus. When are the men going to contribute to the medal table? Are we gonna have to pray for one from the 110mH? Let's hope a bunch of hurdles aren't crashed into.
In reply to JahJah
the 110 hurdle is the only hope for a mens medal. correct. Otherwise , it would have been Gayle in the long jump but he was injured.
Hollaway is a beast, but it only takes one mistake. Levy is the best bet.
Any update on the 4x100 for Jamaica. Do we have teams for both given the injuries?
Cuba won a rowing gold
.naturally
In reply to nitro
we have plenty of women over there...chill. there are no women injury that i am aware of. We have elaine shelly sherika, Brianna , Natasha Morrison, Burchell and Kemba Nelson over there
the men's team will be weak. yohan and tyquando tracey are out. so we have Seville, Dwyer, Minzie, Nigel Ellis, Julian Forte. would be surprised if the men qualify
In reply to rudebway
Why is Yohan out? Bruised ego?
In reply to problemjay
Absolute nasty for a thread like this. You Mom never teach you to at least respect your elders? Hubie as always conducted himself with grace if you can't respect his seniority at least respect that 'pon keyboard or not'
In reply to JahJah
Why is Yohan out? Bruised ego?
be nice.... mentally, you know it has to be tough for him. keep in mind tracey beat him in the 100 at trials and Dwyer beat him in the 200.. the aura is gone.

The TNT 400M runner timed his race really badly. was dissappointed for him.

Sydney McLAUGHLIN looks like she means business in this 400m hurdles final..I sitting on my armchair and I am intimidated looking at her...
In reply to hotarobin
world record... surprise to no one.. that was impressive....McLaughlina and Mohammad. Bol third, Janivie Russell 4th in a pb. Cant beat that.
In reply to hotarobin
She is the new star of Athletics.
This was a more exciting race than the men 400M as great as that was.
take nothing from Dalilah MUHAMMAD and Femke BOL..they pushed her to the limit..four in the field ran PBs including Janieve RUSSELL!! What a race!!
In reply to TriniStar
it is the hour...not sure where he is going but it is not to the finals.
In reply to hotarobin
trying to decide which was better..the mens hurdles last night or this one. Sydney will be the new face of USA track... saw Mohammad earlier this year at a meet in florida.. she really worked her way back into world class shape after covid. she pushed mclaughlin every inch.
In reply to nitro
She is the new star of Athletics
she is gonna make a killing ....oh my. talented and the optics...a perfect combination... not sure what broadcast you were watching, but man did they focus on her family, particularly the elderly grand mother with the american flag. they had granny front and center....

It's first 2 in each semi plus next 2 fastest.
4 qualified from heat 1.

Just checking in...saw old guy Parchment looking good to join Allen in 110 Hurdles final. Holloway looks great but
finally it looks like the men will get on the medal board.
And that 400m women final should be something..Looks like all 8 have broken the 50sec barrier.
I can't afford to miss that race.
In reply to hubert

You mean men's 200m
Fire de wuk!
In reply to culpepperboy
This Olympics is one of a kind...I expectedthan some strange things because it's
a 5 year cycle but this is far more than I expected. .Man Rai Benjamin breaking WR and did came 2nd to a better WR run..The women 400m Hurdles
too similar..WR taken out by 2nd place Muhammad but McLaughlin had the new record in a fabulous race...
And girls named Bol and Mu and youthfull too along with another Terror Mboma in the 200m run to take silver from Gabby Thomas.
Phew...and there is more to come too I am sure.
Making predicting this Olympics is hazardous to one's health all due respect to Simone and Naomi
But what fun
In reply to hubert
I like it bad!
Looking forward to the guy from Liberia that finishes like a freight train and that 17 year old in the 200m.

In the decathlon's fourth event, Linden Victor (Grenada) cleared 2.02 in the high jump for eighth and 822 points. He moves up to sixth overall and 3442 points.
In the fifth event, the 400m, Victor ran 49.21 to finish 14th for 851 points. Overnight, he's ninth overall with 4293 points.
In reply to mikesiva
yes I really felt it for Sada Williams..Is she not training in Jamaica? if she is then I believe that those Jamaican mad scientist coaches go work pon her and transform her in the next three years..
she ran a NR and would have picked up lots of experience from these games..
In reply to mikesiva
Tough on those athletes but hopefully they will learn and gain from the Olympic experience and
continue to persevere..rewards will come if they keep on pushing.
Just saw the Yardi and the Trini fighting for last place in the 200m final.
OH Canada...deGrasse does it.....Thank you...USA no gold.
Congrats
sooooooo happry for Andre De Grasse!!! the man toiled at bronze for such a long time.. well executed race!!
In reply to Drapsey
Appropriate...Only one Jamaican made a sprint final too.
Times tough and rough
In reply to hotarobin
Andre de Grasse 19.62!
Beat the three Americans.

Jereem Richards of Trinidad and Tobago eighth in 20.39.

In reply to mikesiva
happy that degrass finally won a gold. Happy that Dwyer ran creditably and had a moment in the sun.
In reply to mikesiva
Consecutive Olympics without a gold medal in the sprints for the USA.
Sad.
In reply to rudebway
Very happy for deGrasse. I always recall with fond memory that by play between he and Bolt during a race in
his 1st Olympics.Bolt looking sideways in his stride sort of urging him to catch up..and both enjoyed the moment.
Something rubbed off ,maybe
In reply to rudebway
I don't think that there are many not happy for de Grasse..great character on the circuit..
In reply to Drapsey
Jamaica used to be happy to make the finals before Bolt came along.
In reply to hubert
I was just going to say that..him and Bolt jogging to the finish line..
In reply to nitro
Sad.
did you not say america was back and would sweep the sprints? what happened?
In reply to mikesiva
YES!!
Congrats to Andre!!!
I am so happy for Andre
Great run that
Canadian record
The US has underperformed in Athletics this Olympics. They may win the men Shot put gold and maybe two relay golds but I can already see a significant decrease in gold medals at the end of the Olympics for track and Field. And this will impact to overall Olympics medal table as they battle China for the top
In reply to rudebway
Blame it on Low Energy Biden. Trump would have fired them up!
In reply to nitro
We won't know whether #45 would've been more inspirational.
He is the only US president to date who NEVER presided over an edition of the (summer) Olympics.
Some distinction.
The two Canadian finalists, Andre DeGrasse and Aaron Brown, established a high standard of decorum throughout, and demonstrated how great athletes should behave. Never puffed up their chests, or proclaimed they were the greatest.
What shone through the whole time was their grace and humility, and the consciousness that we are all only humans.

In reply to Ewart
womens 4 x 100 relays start tonight...your curiosity will be satisfied... strangely theh USA is in the same heats as we are. mens hurdles finals.. i am seeing medals..
The Chinese are so facting uncouth. Just look at the behavior of these women.
South Korea's badminton authority is complaining because China's players kept yelling 'f---' at the Olympics
The Chinese doubles then mounted a comeback and win the match two sets to one. But for every point won in the successful second and third sets, both Chen and Jia would celebrate by shouting "f---."
Whether necessary or not, the language may have helped China as it stormed all the way to the final and won the silver medal on Monday, August 2.
In reply to mikesiva
19.7 or 6 anything are darned good times.
In reply to rudebway
Hurdles, hardest thing to predict; easiest event to 'trip up' in pardon the pun. Fingers cross. Parchment is the fastest flat so if he gets his stride right and in it over the last hurdle that's it...medal.
In reply to Brerzerk
cosign. After all these years Parchment still has that closing speed.. i am hoping he and Levy do well.
One error and you are done (exactly what happened to Brittany Anderson in the finals)
i keep asking...what happen to michael Ohara? what a waste of talent...
In reply to JahJah
makes sense what Usain said now.

Is that correct?
Congrats to the Canadian born and raised De Grasse.
In reply to problemjay
Apparently!
In reply to JahJah
What did he say?
essentially that Ohara and a few others were lazy. Additionally, that Ohara already thought he was rich. (Ohara was being sponsored by Digicel while going to Cbar). i found an article for you that talks about the issue

I am convinced that even post injury if Yohan commits to the exact training regime he was doing with Glen Mills and beside Bolt he'd be doing at least 9.8

good lord,,,,awful baton change between morrison and burchell..thanks goodness we had Sherika on anchor. at least they listen to me
In reply to rudebway
Yes ,I was on the wrong thread...Ugly but ok in the end. That's everyone's concern..passing the stick.
In reply to hubert
morrison looked slow on the second leg....burchell just stood there.. i thought she was gonna crash into her..
in regards to your other thread, franno was alluding to the 4 x 1. In retrospect, Sherikas screw up saved us. Frano was saying the 3 stars are doublng and at least one or two of them need to run to make sure we qualified. can you imagine that heat without Sherika?
good lord the swiss ladies are pretty. and the german girl.. i think her name is pinto?
In reply to hubert
lane draw alread done..we are in lane 8. china in front , every one else behind.. they just need to let it fly...i actually dont mind sherika and elaine on the outside lanes...
didnt realize trinidad was in the second heat..they finished dead last. oh well
In reply to rudebway
Just saw the TTO placing. Sure they could do better, Yes the lane draw is great.Makes for safer exchange in
my opinion and of course those two won't mind it ..
I just dont want to think about it as I thought Burchell had a caused a zone violation too, witout Shericka probably would be out.
.Phew. The Swiss and German left it all out there when they had their places locked. I enjoyed it but I was impressed
with their baton changes..their team clicked beautifully. They could be a threat for medal too with such efficiency as this
is very key if we ..we'll see .
In reply to hubert
not sure they can do better. the edwin allen class 2 girls could probably beat them. actually i am sure they would. TTO did 43.62, the Edwin Allen girls did 43.73. i am sure the clayton sisters would chase them down.
i would have preferred lane 7, but 8 is way better than one of the tight inside lanes...we should consider ourselves lucky.. Franno foresaw a disaster.. i am hoping that between Kemba, Akeera nugent,Kevona and Ashanti Moore, at least one of them becomes world class by next year
In reply to rudebway
Pinto is a popular surname from Manchester but my Google search does not indicate any link to Yard
In reply to rudebway
I was listening to TVJs analysts over the weekend but they are suggesting most of the stars at Boys and Girls Champs do not make the step up to the big leagues. The indicate that most of our stars are late bloomers who had great coaches such as Francis.
In reply to nitro
u killing me... thats well known..thats y i am hoping one out of the four i named make it. thats 25%... most of them burn out.
btw, i googled the german. her name is Tatjana Pinto.

I wonder how well the USA 4x100m Men have been practising their stick passing.?
By now they must be trying to overcome the chastening disappointment of not winning a Gold
and they too have a knack of messing up ...I wonder ?
Just hope the Yardmen take it safely all around.
They did it but 2nd exchange was too close for me but ok and the youngster took it home nicely .Good run

In reply to hotarobin
I just had a feeling that they were going to screw up one way or other.
Not really surprised..the whole squad seem to be shock from yesterday so where teamwork is concerned ,they were not
ready.
They are looking for Holloway to give them some inspiration right now..too late tho no matter what he does.
This is a Banner event for the USA and they are OUT. ah well.
In reply to rudebway
No dispute about greatest Parish. Mandeville is my favourite Town ..should be the next City
. Helluva combination..Manchester and Rabalac.? Big Up and Take winnings.
In reply to hubert
we have the fastest qualifying time in the relays.. USA is out..and Canada used their A team. they have no reinforcements to bring it..i didnt see Reese Prescod so i think britain can brin him in. we have a great chance...i was not expecting to say that about our mens 4 x 100
In reply to rudebway
I would not get too excited about relays. Baton changes or lane violations are quite frequent.
That said I am pleasantly surprised. I thought Blake was injured.
In reply to nitro
really? being that i am not a track fan, i will calm down. let me go google who the defending champions are.

In reply to rudebway
I never gave them a chance of even reaching the FINAL.
Now Levy can give us our first medal from the men.

Holloway is gracious in defeat though..
Parchment was inna he head!! Levy ran good as well!!
In reply to rudebway
Yeah man, I thought Levy got silver.
One of the greatest performance at the game. The American was thought to be unbeatable.
In reply to hotarobin
Parchment is great between the hurdles with foot speed pure and simple that paid off in the final 10 meters.

Parchment looks like he was sledging him a bit after...
In reply to nitro
It was very tight...but 1-3 is ok..Holloway deserved a Silver as a good
performer this year. A nice guy too..
In reply to Brerzerk
Co signed. He has had many struggles.
In reply to hubert
man are you a prophet or wah
In reply to rudebway
That 'fight' won't end anytime soon..when is the next Olympics ? three years ?
That's not long
In reply to Brerzerk
No. Just experience I guess. I almost as old as the Olympics
I no longer imbibe strong stuff but I gonna find something in the cupboard and raise one for Parchie right now, then hit the sack
In reply to hubert
Parchie never gave up, regardless of the struggles... so happy... hope some of the youngsters learn from that
In reply to rudebway
Always been fond of Parchie , and how he dealt with his adversities..our birthdays are just a day apart two.
Maybe that's why I feel that bond. It was great to see him fit in such wonderful condition too knowing his history and
being on the other side of 30. And yes, he is a fine example for youngsters and hope they find inspiration from him.
Happy indeed. Deserves a BIG Big-Up.
Culpepper was on to sup'n on his post bout 12. Ah glad I kinda reversed my take on it. Less Crow to Jerk, less egg to wipe off the face.

Didn't see the 4x1 men (I will check it out today) but I have had my eyes on Seville for a couple of years now. Really smooth runner. I have great expectations for him.
//
In reply to mikesiva
We were talking about that peculiar scheduling with that with the 400m and the 4x400 m relays.
Was a huge oversight or error but corrected.
Checked in just time to see the girls qualify..A medal should re when the other girls fortify
for a much stronger quartet..Could be gold.I hope.
The men shocked the heck out of me in the 400m sprint relay.. so too the USA who continue to
go the way of the cow's tail. They obviously were not well prepared as per usual for these GAMES
but like Arnold ,'they will be back'. Three years is not too far away.
I give a pass to athletes this time around..living in a Covid world and all.
Never expected 2 medals in the men;s High hurdles but Parchie bust my Glad Bag.
Had to raise a glass of Guinness to him before bed time last night.

it's hilarious listening to the American commies when their guy doesn't come thru
In reply to mikesiva

Gardiner 43.85

Bahamas and Grenada join us on the medals table.. American run out of it..Michael Norman went out to fast.
In reply to Chrissy

Keep working Taylor, proud of you too.
In reply to hubert
An amazing career
Didn't see the race but well done to the world champion and now Olympic champion Steven Gardiner from Bahamas!!
Jah Jah come show another Caribbean island some love
In reply to hubert
Watching Chris Taylor's interview - he has serious breathing issues. His asthma is a problem. He said he had a panic attack as a result of breathing problems which is why he left the track in a wheel chair on the way to the final.
In reply to TriniStar
Doh worry about me. Worry about your boyfriend peejay who still hasn't congratulated ONE Jamaican victory. Not ONE out of the multiple.
Kiani James now medal of each kind in last three Olympics? bravo!
Big up to the dudes who medalled in the 400. Nice try Taylor from RABALAC.
Congrats Bahamas. They have a rich history in the 400M.
Bless Up Kirani. Despite your health issues you have made your country proud.
In reply to JahJah
Taylor;s breathing is an issue - even in the interview. I'm azazed that he's reached this far with that asthma. A really good run for him. He could win gold in the future if he can get the best help with that asthma.
Canada is having a great Olympics
Did our resident Captain Jamaica Jerk Pork congratulate the 400m Caribbean winners? Must have been very emotionally overwhelming for him to do
In reply to TriniStar
Seriously. Decathlon is a heck of a sport. Props to all who've taken that on.
Really happy for the Bahamas there.
Another piece of hardware for Kirani James, awesome. Must hail up my Grenadian friends on the island.
In reply to JahJah
How the medals table looking?
Link TextIn reply to rudebway
In reply to nitro
nice ... Jamaica, Bahamas and Grenada on there.
In reply to rudebway
Notice how di US media is counting total medals this year?
Yuh haffi laff.
In reply to Chrissy
Yuh haffi laff.
of course i notice. i always notice the medal tables... and yes i notice the shifting goal posts..
In reply to Chrissy
Shameless.
Straight out of the problemjay playbook.

In reply to JahJah
i see jamaica Bahamas and Grenada on the list.. big up Kirani. lots of pressure on some countries. in this cycle, they couldnt jump to any medals. its like a dagger..no a javelin through the heart.
In reply to rudebway
Apparently the Tokyo Games is on track to have the largest number of countries who've won at least one medal ever, which is pretty cool.
Hats off to San Marino, Burkina Faso and Turkmenistan for their first ever Olympic medals.
In reply to Chrissy
Absolutely amazing that he has reached any level with what is a chronic condition..The lungs are
critical to everyone but for an athlete even moreso.
My heart goes out to this young.Hats off to him and those who around him as a support team, parents, coaches
because he has overcome much and still persevering and passionate in his pursuit..Talk about character.
Much love and admiration to this young man..
In reply to Tryangle
Turkmenistan ? My geography is not good, but well done alsoi to San Marino and Burkina Faso.
Everyone belongs and should get a piece of the pie. Makes for a better human existence.
In reply to hubert
Agree 100% with your statement
Turkmenistan's one of those former Soviet states, Iran and Afghanistan border it to the south and Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to the north. Also has the Caspian Sea as a sea border. They could be in line in near future to have a cricket presence...
In reply to Chrissy
Yes, the Hep-athlete is a beast! The Belgian in the female event is also very good
Jamaica is now at #22 on the medals count list.
Should per capita (population-wise) be added to the mix, I'm sure they would end up somewhere close to the top of the list.
I didn't realize Taylor P-Be'd he's a fighter wonderful effort. Wonder if the 4x4 team-mates will rise to the occasion and give him sup'n to take home?
In reply to Brerzerk
4X4 is always rough. We have Taylor, Bailey, Bartley, Demish Gaye. it will be a fight to get on the podium.
but i love him from Champs days so hope they can pull it off.
In reply to Brerzerk
tomorrow is Stephanie McPherson's moment of opportunity...she is in lane 6, Shaune Miller is in 7, and Felix is in 9. She can see them. Shaunae looked good in the semi but hopefully the 200 rounds took something out of her.
it doesnt get any better than this
In reply to rudebway
Yep, I feel Shaunie is fully recovered and rearing to go. Felix is good and will always be good but don't think she is anywhere where she needs to be.
In reply to rudebway
but hopefully the 200 rounds took something out of her.
Men's decathlon
In the ninth event, the javelin, Linden Victor (Grenada) threw 71.56 for third place and 913 points. Overall, that pushed him back up to sixth with 7821 points.
In the final event, the 1500m, Victor ran 4:54.32 for 19th place and 593 points. He finished in seventh place on 8414 points.

USA, Botswana and T&T - really fast race
In reply to Brerzerk
Brezfool you excited for T&T now?
dont let your countryman rudebway see your post
In reply to Brerzerk
damn that was a fast heat... 4 x 4 finals going to be hot. nice run from Botswana behind the USA
In reply to Brerzerk
USA 2:57.77
Botswana 2:58.33
Trinidad and Tobago 2:58.60
Get the automatic qualifications spots in the final.
In reply to rudebway
Rudegirl We know its rough for you to mention T&T.
We love it tho
Strange how they have the women 400m final so late in the schedule.
The women 1500m clash between Hissan and Kipyogen should be epic
In reply to mikesiva
Was hoping for 2nd but 2.58 is darn good. As to PJ, don't be a small, petty, petulant, puerile one and spoil a good long thread. History will show I have been hoping for good things from those young men for sometime now. Nuh mek mi swat yuh again with the thread from yorn
good race that for TnT..
Really like the effervescence of the Botswana team..seem like a great group of guys to be around..happy for them..
In reply to TriniStar
because the star was doubling up, giving her whatever recovery time possible
In reply to hotarobin
Gaye

Bartley
Allen
Jamaica finished second to advance to the final.
In reply to Brerzerk
You mean the thread over so of you embarrassing yourself and then you run and hide? I am still waiting for you to post a claim of me regarding T&T and medals. Thats what you get for following Jerk Pork around, you now become a duncy head
In reply to Brerzerk
we are anchoring with Nathon Allen? that is going to be a disaster,, whose idea was that..geesh
In reply to problemjayyuh real funny
we gonna celebrate the medal wid yuh
In reply to Brerzerk
Who is 'we' you claiming that will will celebrate any medal with me you duncy head?
Still cannot support your claim that I am a liar. Another eediot
In reply to Brerzerk
See why it was good I did not make any predictions when you kept asking me for predictions for my athletes before the Olympics? I dont play allyuh foolish games. You and problemjay can play that game
Nicely done JA despite di Polish guy trying to block yuh
Rhatid India came 4th
In reply to rudebway
I am sure you welcome that egg in your face eh? great leg by Allen...
In reply to Chrissy
Poland 2:58.55
Jamaica 2:59.29
USA 2:59.37
Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago in tomorrow's final.
In reply to Brerzerk
whew..Nathon surprised me. i was worried for a minute...
Poland must have a good relay program. Look at their men and remember dem win the mixed 4x400 and dont count them out from the podium in the women 4x400
In reply to Chrissy
India really ran well!!
In reply to rudebway
like he heard you
In reply to hotarobin
I am sure you welcome that egg in your face eh? great leg by Allen... lol lol lol
absolutely and happy to eat crow. Nathon seems to have regressed since he left Auburn so i am glad he held it on that leg.
In reply to TriniStar
That duncy head ran away from another thread after calling me a liar and cannot prove it
But you should have asked him for his own predictions
In reply to hotarobin
Indeed - they must have read my post
What if Poland wins the men 4x400 final and China wins the men 4x100 ?
I am ok with any surprise after what happened in the men 100m final
I got that bits and pieces Jamaica team to win gold in the men's 4x100m..to me they synergize better than any other team..
Can't see the US losing the men's 4x400m to Poland..
In reply to hotarobin
we can do it..that would be a huge unexpected medal to add to the medal table..that would be pandemonium...we have the fastest qualifying time, the US is out and the other teams all used their A team.
you are correct..the US cant lose the 4 x4. Ross looks shot, but they have Norman and Cherry to bring in and they can use Benjamin
In reply to problemjay
Why U keep spoiling a good post to your own embarrassment? The proof was provided, you said you were excited for Olympics and that competitive spirit because of the performances of YOUR ATHLETES then post a link to a TNT FB page. I replied you should note the times and not the wins in backyard competitions. You cannot read your own post that's reposted?
In reply to Brerzerk
that clown is a shameless waste of time
In reply to rudebway
TriniS observation is keen, I didn't even know they were Indoor champs. US will certainly be too much for them. I don't think Yard can win the short sprint relay and will struggle to come above 4-5 in the 4x4. Will take any surprises gladly
In reply to Chrissy
Asian Record
Whe' 'Surrya..' Khaga
In reply to Brerzerk
Big run dat fi Uganda
In reply to Brerzerk
who you think will beat us?
In reply to Brerzerk
Since head I have already said I am ALWAYS excited and support my athletes so what you are really saying? You came into a thread where we discussing TnT and medals and you said me and Trinistar were living and trying to play down our medal chances and we were doing the opposite in the past. So you are yet to provide a post or a claim of me predicting TnT medals. Instead your duncy head is talking about I was excited to support my athletes. Clown I do that everyday and still do! Next time know what was being argued so I want have to slap you around
In reply to Brerzerk
they have a decent shot..they just ran the fastest time for the year..
women's 400m finals..hoping for the Caribbean to sweep it..
Shaunie
In reply to Brerzerk
massive run...wow.....big up
Cha dem let Felix get a bronze!!
In reply to rudebway
Something about her I just felt it especially after the semis. Steph may have missed her last best chance. On to the relays
Well done Shaunie. All the doubters have to now say big up. 2x Olympic champ
In reply to hotarobin
Dom Rep. surprised me
In reply to problemjay
What you saying about Shelly and ET?
In reply to problemjay
being excited for our own athletes does not mean we have unrealistic expectations
Way to go Shaunae.
Allyson remains a big-meet performer. Another piece of hardware for her collection.
In reply to Brerzerk
yup ...defended her title..correct race for her.. not sure why she bothered with the 200..
yea..steph is heartbroken. got run out of it.
In reply to Brerzerk
Honestly be honest. Do you know what was being discussed in that thread? You did say In the discussion that you did not read all the posts before commenting. We were discussing TnT and medals with Halliwell. The FB page link you posted is irrelevant bro.Thats why I was asking you what is your argument? But you never responded. I think Jah Jah also left the the discussion confused after claiming no TnT athletes made finals

Happy for Miller. Some in here were saying the 200m would have made her too tired for the final. Well she delivered. Well done to the Bahamian star
In reply to Brerzerk
Shouldn't have surprised you.. Paulino was running blistering speeds in the heats and the semis..I expected her to be up there..
Congrats Shaunie and the Bahamas team. Double 400M champs. Should be a great party in the Bahamas.
Hush Stephanie, great effort.
In reply to hotarobin
Exactly! And Paulino was in good form from since the mixed relay 4x400 silver medal run
In reply to Chrissy
don't joke with those Nilotic people Uganda, Kenya, Sudan, Ethiopia, within that ethnic n sub-ethnic group are the tallest, darkest skinned, and slimmest people.
Congrats to Shaune Miller-Uibo..that semi-final run made a statement to the field..
HASSAN vs KIPYEGON...this should be special..will someone upset them both?
In reply to rudebway
Women's 400m final
1 BAH MILLER-UIBO Shaunae 48.36 AR
2 DOM PAULINO Marileidy 49.20 NR
3 USA FELIX Allyson 49.46 SB
4 JAM McPHERSON Stephenie Ann 49.61
5 JAM McLEOD Candice 49.87
Well done, SMU!
In reply to Brerzerk
Dom Rep. surprised me
??? she looked great in the semis..that wasnt a surprise...more surprising to me was Felix managing to get the bronze at her age and the victory margin by Shaunae. that was unreal..didnt tie up towards the end
[b]In reply to TriniStar[/
Low IQ Brezfool still wont understand you. He post an irrelevant link and then ran and hide.
In reply to TriniStar & Brerzerk
I thought ya'll said Felix was dun, dun, dun.
Eat yuh phriggin crow now.
In reply to mikesiva
wow..that 1500 kenyan is something else
In reply to TriniStar
No, no, no PJ asserted how excited he was for his TNT athletes and how he started feeling the COMPETITIVE spirit. Should the inference then be that competitive spirit should be competitive but not expect medals? I guess men have got used to WI being competitive and losing hahahahahaha
In reply to rudebway
congrats to KIPYEGON..well run HASSAN is definitely disappointed but her strategy to lead from the get go played right into KIPYEGON's hands..
In reply to rudebway
That was brilliant by the Kenyan.
In reply to hotarobin
Hassan was overconfident.
In reply to TriniStar
Idiot, he was hoping it would because he wanted his country woman to win.
In reply to nitro
don't think so..she looks more worried to me hence why she ran the way she ran..
In reply to TriniStar
Show me where I said no TnT athlete made finals.
I can't wait to show you that you lack basic comprehension skills
In reply to nitro
Kipyegon beat Hassan the same way at the Monaco Diamond League...just out-kicked her on the final stretch.
It was a repeat of what happened then.
Hassan doesn't have the kick to match Kipyegon over 1500m.
so the fast sprints up next..me go be late fa wuk
In reply to mikesiva
Ok, I have not really followed them, just heard so much about Hassan at these games.
I really should watch these long distance races more. They are a lot more exciting than I thought.
In reply to JahJah
sometimes you gotta laugh.. who doubts the quality of Shaunae? maybe stevie wwonder. she is the defending champ.. 400/200 doubles are tough..thats why they are hard to do... as you said , i hope the 200 took something out of her to give Steph a chance to win. Black green and gold first. no ifs and or buts.
Who is gonna beat Shaunae at 400? Naser is banned, and the bronze medallist Sherika is now running sprints.
In reply to nitro
her legs might be tired..
KIPYOGEN is a legendary runner so no surprise here. I knew this 1500 was going to be Hassan toughest race
In reply to nitro
She could have been confident and still lost. She and Kipyogen was evenly matched going into this race
In reply to nitro
Yes, the Euro-centric media do tend to overhype Hassan, and ignore East Africans who are well-placed to beat her....
After the Monaco Diamond League, I picked Kipyegon to beat Hassan over 1500m.
In reply to rudebway
I know some were unhappy Sherika switched to the sprints but there is nothing sweeter than that clean sweep in to 100M for me.
In reply to mikesiva
Maybe, I have watched the Eurosport feed most of the games.
In reply to TriniStar
Hasan is tired. I watching NBC now and as soon as the Yard relay team started walking out dem men cut mid-sentence went to ad and returned exactly when the US team was coming out. lol
Apparently we need to say a prayer for our low IQ duncy heads Brezfool and Jerk Pork who are struggle with reading comprehension. In their duncy minds being competitive means you will get a medal
In reply to nitro
She would not have beaten Shaunie...you saw the time?
In reply to TriniStar
and now they giving fake congrats

.
Now This Is It. Clean baton handovers please!!!
In reply to problemjay
Rudegirl? Who?
Anyway, no one in their right mind will doubt Miller in a 400 final. Regardless if she competes in another event
ok Jamaica no muck up now just pass that baton and stay in your lane and let the legs do the rest arite!! leah we go!!
In reply to hotarobin
Briana-ETH-SAFP-Shericka
Jamaica win 41.02!
I hope the exchanges were okay....
In reply to Brerzerk
was that out the zone?
Again!!! are we disqualified??
hummm...
In reply to Brerzerk
looks like we ok ...me heart skip a beat
dese bad mind American commies hoping for Jamaica to get DQ...smh
In reply to hotarobin
Not only them. TriniStar and problemgay are on their knees...praying.
Wow, that was a relief!
Big Up Jamaica!
The greatest Little Rock on the planet!
In reply to JahJah
medals table...
congrats to Jamaica on the gold assuming all went well in the end but that order was questionable..this team has what it takes to beat the WR and they were not even close..
In reply to rudebway
Women's sprint relay final
1 JAM Jamaica 41.02 NR
2 USA United States of America 41.45 SB
3 GBR Great Britain 41.88
4 SUI Switzerland 42.08
I'm nervous about that first exchange from Briana to ETH....
In reply to nitro
i posted that i always worry about elaine on anything but anchor, and that why...but i see the logic of the coaches...power on the backstretch and destroy all others..
Brianna did an excellent first leg, and Sherika pulled away from Gabby. nice all round
In reply to hotarobin
The Gold is much more important than a WR.
In reply to rudebway
I am impressed with the speed of Brianna. I still think Elaine should have been the anchor but I am not the expert
In reply to nitro
That is right the Gold is more important. A WR will eventually be broken but no one can take away that gold medal win
In reply to mikesiva
It was fine - Americans too damn excited - I was worried at first
In reply to hotarobin
Which Badmind American commies? I am watching a different feed
Is it the Americans with Caribbran heritage Otto Boldon and Sanya?
In reply to TriniStar
No but di British commies were just as bad - like they wanted di DQ
In reply to rudebway
You too
In reply to Chrissy
they were excited for silver..gold was out of reach..they met their expectations
blessed is he who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed.
In reply to nitro
they can go after the WR on the circuit if possible..i would change the running order. but my God, Sherika is turbo charged
come on bits and pieces Jamaica..show the world what synergy means..no muck-ups please!!
Canada is a hot potato and so is China..and GB can sneak in the medals..
Di lil gurl fast like lightning, I think Elaine was surprised she came in so fast, at first she started off at the right pace then held up as if she couldn't believe Bri was so far ahead of others. That's what caused the WR to be missed.
In reply to TriniStar
italy won the 4 X 1. you must be a prophet
Blood Seed!!!! Italy
Italy is having the year of their lives in sports. Poor first baton exchange by Jamaica, we could have had the bronze.
Ah wah kinda juju Italy wuk to win Eurovision, Euros, Men's 100 and 4X1??
In reply to Brerzerk
minzie was slow on the lead leg and he and forte couldnt get the baton change down..oh well
congrats to Italy..it just didn't flow for the bits and pieces..
that final leg by the Italian was truly phenomenal..wow!
In reply to JahJah
JA's baton pass was faulty
So thats two gold medals for this Jacobs guy. How many people was really talking about him before Olympics
In reply to Brerzerk
yes, Brianna worked them over.
In reply to TriniStar
not sure, I am watching on Roku and the NBC Sports app but there are feeds from other networks therein..it's definitely not the feed with Ato..it'a an American and a Brit..
In reply to JahJah
gli italiani sono veloci!
In reply to rudebway
Elaine has matched Usain Bolt at this Olympics...3 GOLD medals!
In reply to Chrissy
was it the same J'ca team that ran the heats?
In reply to culpepperboy

This is just Italy's summer, pure and simple. Wild.
In reply to Chrissy
Men's sprint relay final
1 ITA Italy 37.50 NR
2 GBR Great Britain 37.51 SB
3 CAN Canada 37.70 SB
4 CHN People's Republic of China 37.79 =NR
5 JAM Jamaica 37.84
In reply to rudebway
The first leg is so crucial in a relay ,messing up the first leg when there is no real star in your quartet spells doom.
In reply to nitro
She has more gold medals this week than some countries in their entire history
in regards to relay order, you will notice the italians used the 100m winner on the backstretch. US always did with Gatlin, so using Elaine there isnt "odd". just not what i would do...if you watch her, she is not comfortable with baton changes.. but there was so much raw s[peed there...
This has been a fabulous Olympics, I'm sure it helped many to feel better during this pandemic.
In reply to rudebway
She tied TnT's overall gold medal count. Not bad for someone coming from a certain country.
^^ example above Jerk Pork again randomly shows his love for Trinidad. Someone help him get a Trini passport. Trini-PARANOIA
In reply to problemjay
I already told you leave that little man alone. Just his strange way of expressing his love for our country.
Jah Jah how TnT get in this race discussion? Come explain to us
GOT EM!
In reply to TriniStar
Seems Jerk Pork has a bruised ego
Dem Traumatised!!!!!
In reply to problemjay
Very strange and he does not want to answer my question
Oh well on to the next event
Imaginary questions unanswered now.
Trauma!!
In reply to TriniStar
Jah Jah how TnT get in this race discussion? Come explain to us
Obviously this is too hard a question for his low IQ

Speaking of low IQ
She has more gold medals this week than some countries in their entire history
Here endeth the lesson!

As bad as an Olympics America is having in Athletics I will be most surprised if they don't win that women 4x400 final.
I am reading online a star studded line up of Athing Mu - Mohammed - Mcglaughlin - Felix
Buy Felix just ran today. That could be an issue
In reply to JahJah
And you chose to mention TnT from those many countries.
Lesson ended and case closed
In reply to TriniStar
Yup see it! That's why I said he is suffering from Trini- PARANOIA
Jerk Pork wished his name was Doubles
In reply to TriniStar
But even with what you just told him his low IQ duncy head will not understand
In reply to TriniStar
because 'a certain country' as stated by none other than a _________________.
Guess di nationality and you get a cookie.
THIS IS FUN!!!!
.
What a mess!
.
In reply to TriniStar
That has always, always a given. Soo too the men, when was the last time a US team lost a 4x4 at a world event. Ewart told you when already
In reply to Brerzerk
At a world event? Didn't the US 4x400 men lost at 2017 world champs? That is recent
In reply to TriniStar
Re-read what I wrote. The question is rhetorical by the way, and' if you read what came next you will see I am not just pointing out an anomaly. The US losing any of these 4x4 would be what is strange, winning wouldn't be a surprise. Use the same stats formula you attempted in the other post and see what conclusion you'd draw.
Just heard that Steph McPherson picked up a hamstring injury mid race of the 400M. Sad.
Canada wins the women's football Gold with 3 Jamaican-Canadians. Might all be 4. Lemme check.
The one with the surname Rose came up clutch to extend the shoot out into sudden death.
In reply to Brerzerk
I don't disagree with the premise of what you saying. Was just answering your question about the US men 4x400 and when last they lost
The expectation by many is the US will win both men and women 4x4 in the finals. The women especially given the line up which consist of several Olympic Champions. we talking about Mcglaughlin, Athing Mu, Mohammed and Felix al in the same team.
But those are just expectations anything can still happen. Me personally will not be surprised if the US men 4x400 don't win. I am not confident in Norman and the other young US male sprinters showing up when it matters the most but we shall see. Poland and Botswana I can tell are hungry to win.
In reply to nitro
she was inconsolable. the pics on the jamaican website say it all. the disappointment is real. the other USA lady and McLeod were trying to console and help her off
In reply to rudebway
I was a bit puzzled as her time in the semis was much better.
That is a blow to the female 4x4 as well. Can Shericka Jackson be added?
In reply to nitro
yes, but she is not a machine.. she ran today. it takes something out of you to run. they can use her or the 400 hurdlers.
In reply to TriniStar
It is. I think their team will be stronger though. We'll really have to bring our A+ game if we want to beat them again. Not that TTO can't do it. Of the 4 races the teams have contested between 2017 and 2019, we wo two of them. Would have won at the Pan Am games too but Zambrano of Colombia was the anchor there and his kick at the end is spectacular. Its also really disconcerting if he's coming behind you. I think that affected our team. But Colombia not in de final. It will be a good race and Cedenio and co will leave their best performance on the track.
In reply to nitro and jah jah
have you seeen the jamaican post relay interview with the ladies? check it out... Shelly is off the reservation.. She said and did every single thing right. and the interview was funny as hell
believe it or not, that 41.02 is the second fastest in history...with that baton mess up on the second leg. they admitted they wanted the record and i hope they get it. they have a window while Shelly is still this fast..
In reply to rudebway
Yeah. I saw the interview. The girls are in great spirits.
I could listen to Shelly speak everyday!
In reply to rudebway
I loved this one as well:

Congrats, world - the Beijing mark has been broken, and 89 individual countries have won at least one medal at a Summer Olympics.
So Great Britain consists of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland at the Olympics?
In reply to nitro
Not Northern Ireland... not sure if it was deliberate or a quirk, but people from Northern Ireland can compete for Ireland, apparently.
And technically, any athletes from Anguilla, T&C, Falklands, could only compete for Britain as those places don't have NOCs. Rule Britannia and all that, eh.
In reply to TriniStar
Fair points
In reply to Tryangle
You sure, isn't Northern Ireland part of Great Britain? I would like to better understand this
In reply to Brerzerk
NI is part of the United Kingdom but not G Britain which is the island that consists of England, Scotland and Wales
In reply to mikesiva
Just checking in...Missed all the action..Scheduled my eye exam three months ago and it was this morning.
Had a helluva dilation that is only allowing me to squint and read about the proceedings.
Thanks all, for an informative thread ,I have caught up with the happenings.I know my fellow posters woulds provide nuff information. Thanks again. Will try and watch late tonight if I can.
Congrats to all athletes too. Of course disappointments are many but just being there
in a final is a wonderful achievement.
BTW, the eyes are good enough. No need for surgery, yet. Just for you who may be curious. Thanks

Anabolic Steroid Allegation
Sour Grapes or is there some merit?
In reply to FanAttick
also check this one out with regards to ROC..
This 10000m is BRUTAL!! professional athletes are dropping like flies..
imagine these women ended the race and have to beg for something to drink...this is some POOR organization by Japan!! where are the idiots who were quick to lead athletes off the track for false starts? this is some poor stuff!!
In reply to FanAttick
Nothing surprises me anymore.Hope he and all the other athletes are clean.
Would be rel tragedy this for the Olympics.
In reply to FanAttick
Truthfully Jacob's time improvements are unbelievable on steroids.
even Hassa mash up dread!! Only the silver medalist GEZAHEGNE is walking around after the race..
In reply to hubert
All I will say is something looks seriously wrong - I said the same back in 1988 with FloJo
In reply to FanAttick
this would mean that Fred Kerley would win the gold..yuck!
In reply to hotarobin
Yuck indeed....but nothing again Fred personally.
I hope there's no merit.
In reply to Chrissy
Agree with you. Usually it starts with the coach !
His body mass does not really have the sprinter's typical profile.BUT..
In reply to hotarobin
Yuk, is right
In reply to hotarobin
i am pretty sure they tested the italian Lamont Jacobs 10 times after the hundred. probably after the semis too. so i would be surprised if there is an adverse finding now. They would announce it already
In reply to Chrissy
I am and will always be convinced that FloJo was really FloJuice..I still have a bad taste in my mouth regarding the 1984 Olympics blood doping scandal with the American cyclists and Carl Lewis failing a drug test in 1988 only for the officials to look the other way..
In reply to rudebway
Chopra from India leading the javelin. the Pakistanni also doing well... Looks like strongman Vetter of Germany didnt make the top 8
In reply to rudebway
I would like nothing more than for the Indian to win!
In reply to hotarobin
The context of Carl failing and Bens open cheating and the role of US officials needs greater analytics from you
In reply to hotarobin
same here...but this is an even where one single throw is all u need so i am hoping the 87.5 holds up. i think it will
Like Alan Wells most knew that Ben was cheating- think for an instance how Wells cheating affected your Caribbean athletes
In reply to hotarobin
Doh tell the clown that Carl was openly cheating (backed by the wink wink of USA). He may have a fit.
In reply to hotarobin
as we hoped (and figured) , Shericka running the 4 x4. we can hopefully get a silver
In reply to Barry
speak to Evelyn Ashford..
In reply to hotarobin
bradaps.
In reply to rudebway
yeah cause it's about 99% certainty that the US will win both of these long sprint relays..
is McPherson really injured?
In reply to hotarobin
True, speak brother
In reply to JahJah
Why do you guys accommodate clowns?
India wins Javelin GOLD!!
congrats to the young Neeraj CHOPRA..
In reply to hotarobin
is McPherson really injured?
unless one of their women pull up, they are winning..i would do McLaughin to Dahlia to Felix to Mu. that cant be beat
as for McPherson, interesting question.. only she and the MRI tech really knows.
In reply to hotarobin
congrats to the young Neeraj CHOPRA..
big up...held off the Chzecks. congrats
In reply to rudebway
yeah realistically speaking the race is for silver and bronze unless, as you said, one of their women pulls up..same for the men's..
In reply to hotarobin
Come on, man. Like Sherika, Fred stepped down from the 400 to run the 100m and he has been successful at it. Give credit where it's due. Fred is a humble guy.
In reply to hotarobin
Most of these top athletes are on something. Flo Jo might have been on some serious shit and that's why she retired early and died of whatever but most insiders agree that these athletes are getting help and it's not just Gatorade. The folks looking just ain't find nothing...yet.
Bronze - well done - nice farewell fi Felix
In reply to Chrissy
who get bronze?
USA, Poland, Jamaica...
In reply to Chrissy
yup,.the poles are good so happy for the bronze.. all our ladies ran well, including Russell who is a hurdler. no complaints
In reply to DukeStreet
who get bronze? [/quote]
Jamaica
Great by the USA.
Congrats on the bronze Jamaica without the injured Steph McPherson. Depth in talent for a Likkle but Tallawah Rock.
In reply to rudebway
got it. Thanks! The women continue to impress. Love it.
good run by Botswana..and excellent by Netherlands..
and that's it for the games..
In reply to hotarobin
US wins the mens 4 x 4... 2:55 Netherlands, Botswana
Jamaica 6th, Trinidad last.
i think that is probably where we expected to finish.
In reply to hotarobin
St Hillaire was always the weak link in the TTO team. Too big for a 400m runner. And if he was injured, as i think he was as he was running slow the entire time, he should have said something
In reply to rudebway
That was shocking from Trinidad after that great start.
Damn sorry for the Australian woman in the high jump she was really self motivated
In reply to nitro
Candice McLeod so happy getting her medal... nice
In reply to rudebway
Yeah, like that girl. She was trying so hard to cheer up Steph McPherson after the 400M yesterday.
Love her spirit.
In reply to rudebway
Did you see the Great Britain and Jamaican girls singing Bob Marley's One Love on the podium after the playing of the Yard's anthem?
Oh well, we missed the double digits.
Good going though.
In reply to nitro
no i missed that..i assume it was yesterday? will have to find it on you tube.. not surprised. jamaica and Bob Marley are global brands.
In reply to nitro
That podium was full of 'Jamaicans' according to problemjay's 'new' criteria.
NOICE!!!
In reply to rudebway
Marley? really? Still? Not according to TriniStar. They should have been singing Pon De Replay and twerking.

In reply to JahJah
Good going though
9 is good. Some countries didnt trouble the scorers.
the general predictions of 11 to 12 was close. the long jumper Gayle (world champ) was injured and Ricketts missed a bronze by 3 cm. so the production was pretty aligned with expectations. high expectations
In reply to JahJah
DWL.
We at Yard seem to forget how much Jamaicans or people of Jamaican heritage embrace our culture.
The GBR girls actually sang it louder than our girls
In reply to rudebway
No, it was this morning. The 4x1 medal ceremony.
In reply to rudebway
ouch, why so rude?

But true dat. It was a valiant effort for Tajay to soldier on. Big up.
In reply to Jumpstart
TnT should not have come last in that race..
In reply to JahJah
ouch, why so rude?
this is a cricket site, so hey... throw in a cricket terminology..lol
and it is an irrefutable fact. i dont even have to check the medals table
anyway...loved that Taylor and Jaleel can now see that they "belong"...
In reply to hotarobin
Nope......big disappointment man. The lowest TTO should have come was third given our first and second legs
In reply to JahJah
I would say good going..Happy for all the medalists and finalist and to young Tylor for his tremendous fortitude ; and
the promise of Seville and others like Brianna.
Three years is a short time till Paris.
It will be much tougher there in all disciplines as long as COVID is under control or defeated.
But hats off to the WOMEN..they really wore the 'pants 'like Typical Jamaican women throughout our history
from the home to the field. They led well and we should be very grateful to them all.
The men need to get their act together for Paris.
Now I am off to my calaloo, okra, gungo peas and beet root in my garden.
In reply to hubert
You have gungo peas in August?
In reply to hubert
Comrade, bon appetit.
Btw, BIG UP Jamaica and the rest of the English speaking Caribbean who won medals.
In reply to hubert
interesting..some one told me about beet juice recently...recommended it to help moderate blood pressure.
any thoughts on that? i plan on trying it. no i dont have it in the backyard..will go get it at the farmers market down the road
I hope Brazil can hold on. Ivory Coast also had Spain beat until they let one in injury time, and then had that meltdown in extra time.
Brazil with the men's gold in football.
In reply to hubert
Me too.
We have a good future. Briana's star is rising as Shelly-Ann enters her twilight. I love that first leg.
And in Taylor and Seville we have some good people with more than ordinary promise.
If Taylor can find a way to suppress/defeat his asthma, his rising sun will shine gloriously, and not only in the 400. And I don't have any fears for Seville whose calm determination and fluent speed will take him far.
//
In reply to rudebway
Yeah beetroot juice is well known for helping to lower blood pressure. A word of warning don't be alarmed when you take a leak after drinking beetroot juice .
In reply to DukeStreet
Is it true that Jasprit Bumrah won gold in the mens javelin?
In reply to cricketmad
thanks for the info!! and the warning!
In reply to rudebway
Yu fren problemjay nuh show up all now. Is wah, him eat too much roti and need fi ress it off?
Very respectable 4th place finish by the Yard.
Well done as well to the Bahamas who finished 12th.

In reply to rudebway
The 9 is just two less than 2016. The difference the guaranteed 2 gold medals from Bolt.
In reply to nitro
3
In reply to JahJah
i see you corrected nitro...he forgot the 4 x 1 relays....lol...with bolt and Asafa, you can survive the bad first leg baton change..without them.... you see what happened
In reply to JahJah
True, plus maybe one or two more given the big man's intangible effect on the team.
In reply to nitro
found the medal ceremony video..great video,... three things
1. which other nation gets the unofficial anthem "One Love" played after the national anthem? Thats when u know you big bout yah.
2. you are right. the British girls were jamming.
3. Shericka is correct. she cant dance.
In reply to JahJah/ nitro
Bahamas medal count in T&F superior to big team Russia. The ban hit ROC in T&F hard
In reply to rudebway
You think TriniStar was jamming too?
problemjay was probably sulking in a corner corking his ears.
In reply to FanAttick

Whoieeee... mih belly!!
Didn't see him. But he sure should have been there to pick up his gold medal

Yes . Just returned from molding and watering them too.I usually still reaping in October. When I plant the ones
from Jamaica I am reaping into November if the weather not bad in Philly.
Started late this season in June.Had to wait for clearance from my Doctor
to do my gardening. Gungo just start to blossom big..
Did not do my Chards,Kale,Collard Greens or Peppers this season. Those with Beet, cucumbers and my Gungo are my MUSTS.
Reaped okra and Beet, tomoato and calaloo and today.
Been eating well along with Salmon and other fish.

Enjoy man - one of my sisters has a fabulous flower, vegetable and fruit garden this year.
In reply to Courtesy
Thanks my friend..been eating well.
Yes our Caribbean athletes deserve a Big Up..Its been a tough year and they have less resources
than the Big countries to deal with adversity. They did better than most in the circumstances than
some big countries. Even those who were medal lest did well in making many finals..no mean feat either.
Proud of them and Bahamas continue to amaze with Miller-Ubio.
Wonderful.
In reply to Chrissy
Great. Nothing beats eating and enjoying what you grow.Such a wonderful hobby too.
Has been my passion since about 8 years old. Some of us just love to watch things grow
and enjoy and share the fruits.( I even have a calaloo plant at home hidden in the boss's flower bed.Thats for seeds for next season)
She just found out but she eased me up this time
My friends and family are all over wanting calaloo. Shipped to friends in Arizona last week and
will be shipping to my daughter who has left Texas Tech for the Detroit Lions NFL organization since June.
I never shared that info before JESSICA GRAY CO-DIRECTOR OF PLAYER ENGAGEMENT.
But Women are making great strides in once male dominated areas in the USA. And that is a great thing.
In reply to hubert
Is that gungo peas,cajanus cajan
always say I would try it here in NJ,are you in PA?
In reply to rudebway
Never knew the value of beet until about five years ago. It has become one of my MUSTS since then.
I cook it in virtually eveything when possible but juicing is the thing..leaves and all..
The juice with some ginger alone. Then with a mixture of carrots ..but always with ginger.I
have seen the benefits and I grow organically which makes it even better.
My MUSTS include Kale,Swiss Chards,Collard Greens, gungo ,Beans, cucumbers Beet, peppers(Scot bonnet or Trinidad Scorpion)
in a 1 square chain garden. My other garden of half that size in a different location is solely for the Calaloo.
But if I have to reduce activity as I have to this season, Beet is my number 1, with calaloo as tjhe next MUST as I make
a few shekels which pay for everything from it and share half with friends of which I have a gradual increase each season..
In reply to hubert
thanks to you and cricketmad. what you wrote is the exact advice i got a few days ago...beet, carrot and a piece of ginger. some one had recommended tumeric tea, but i hated the taste.
also realizing the value of coconut water... all this time i thought it was just a chaser for my Appleton.
In reply to camos
Yes, In Philadelphia. It will do very well in South Jersey ;places such as Camden or Cherry Hill.
It is grown in the South..they know it as pigeon peas in the Carolinas and of course we get the supply from Puerto Rico.I bought some in a store
and tried it but it is not like the Jamaican variety but it will grow well..
I am trying the ones from Puerto Rico which I bought in a store. So I will see.
Being unable to plant last year was a big let down for me as seeds from 2019 from my Jamaica variety went bad and although there was
ratoon growth in the field, the two guys who used the field ,only reaped and told me they had a lot..but did not
save seeds..the two brothers.. are real fun tho. But I know who I can source some from tho.
But give it a try and start it in April/or by earth Day in NJ and you should get some result.
Got to keep a nice mound and water well too.
In reply to Ewart
The good thing is that Jamaica has some wonderful coaches who know what it takes to being on the
talent..Taylor,Briana and Seville are three that could do great things in three years. The task
will be hard.
Just hope Taylor can overcome that challenging health issue. He is a wonderful talent
and I like his positive attitude too.I am sure others will come to the forefront on the men's side.
Those twin sisters that made an impact at Champs,(Williams ?) seem to have the talent too to step up.
In reply to hubert
tia and tina clayton.
ya just got de feeling that America will come back with a vengeance in three years..

Stewwwwps
Anyway lets jump and wave
Olympic committee could bring back some fridge magnet and replica kimonos
Abject failure of a campaign

Third dude was injured......look like he was injured before the race because he started running slow. If he was really injured before, then he should have said something. We had alternates who I'm sure would have been race ready for an eventuality like this.
We were in 2nd place before he took over. To be fair though, Ato did say we wasn't getting anything from early last month eh
In reply to rudebway
Yes. That's the duo .Twins I believe..They got the right attitude to competitiveness.Hope the
right personnel is involved to nurture them.
As for coconut water..to me its the purest water, nicely distilled naturally.Used to be my chaser for my Appleton white ,too.
way back when. Only strong mixture that gave no hangover .
Can't even smell that stuff now
In reply to Brerzerk
This has been a wonderful Olympics Thanks Mike for creating this thread. It was great to treat with so many real knowledgeable sports enthusiasts. TRINI-S n PJ wi good it was good to have you around and your input. Wi all good World Champs just deh roung di corner. I'm still backing TNT 4×4 to medal n hoping Yard's can get it right by then.CHEERS ALL!
In reply to Brerzerk
Great thread indeed.
The sporting part was great - let's see how Covid will impact on Japan now/
Thanks Mike and all who posted.
So I was bigging up San Marino for getting their first medal of any sort the other day and setting a mark for smallest nation to win a medal...
Turned out they pulled two more!
3 total medals for such a small nation. Incredible.
