Guyana Amazon Warriors have won the toss and have opted to bat

Narper 2021-08-29 18:09:34

Nicholas Pooran:
We'll bat first. Feel we need to put 160+ on the board. A bit concerning (opening partnership), but we back each and everyone in the team. Hopefully we can surprise St Kitts. We have one change. Ashmead Nedd is out, Anthony Bramble in in.

Norm 2021-08-29 18:12:33

Nedd needs to use his opportunities better. This drop might make him do so now.

Narper 2021-08-29 18:13:24

In reply to FuzzyWuzzy

Yep..Patriots under Johnny B can win this.

Pooran looks lost as a cappo in this CPL....and for the first two games he hid dong the order...a cappo must lead from the front.

Pouty's poutiness catching up with him...players are no longer intimidated...and he will lose respect from regional players

Narper 2021-08-29 18:16:52

Dwayne Bravo:
That's one of major reasons I moved here, to challenge myself and to see if I can develop next generation of cricketers. It's going to be tough but the guys have responded really well and I am very happy with each and everyone of them. It's going to be hard but we are going to enjoy. We know that Guyana are going to regroup. It doesn't matter what Guyana come with, we need to make sure we stick to the basics and stick to our team policies. As long as my team show the same hunger, I am happy. He's (Gayle) still not fully recovered. One change. We rest Sheldon Contrell and we bring in Jon-Russ Jaggesar

Norm 2021-08-29 18:17:54

Hemraj lost plenty of pounds. Gained plenty of beard.

Narper 2021-08-29 18:29:50

Chandrapaul Hemraj:
Played some cricket in New York and utilising the gym and stuff. The pitches aren't great but you need to find ways as a batter. It's important to give the solid start. We had a look at them yesterday, hopefully we come back hard today.

Norm 2021-08-29 18:36:08

Hafeez struck on the knee by Sherfane's throw from the boundary. Physio out, doing repairs.

van Meekeren to Hafeez, SIX, banged in short, Hafeez gets a bit of a top edge on his pull. The man at deep backward square leg takes an overhead catch but the momentum takes him over the boundary rope. He flicks the ball in the air as he moves back. But, did he make contact with the ad cushions before releasing the ball? That's the question the TV umpire needs to answer. He's convinced that Devon Thomas made contact with the rope. Six

Warriors hope Tahir and Odeen will get a couple of wickets each. Hafeez should bowl a few overs cheaply. Nail Smith might get a wicket too. That's the Warriors bowling strategy.
A strategy to get 5 wickets and bowl 12 decent overs.

Thomas bowled by Tahir!

that's a good point Narps, i didn't think about it that way

Sherfane Rutherford | Man of the Match:
An emotional moment (receiving hug from the opponents). I had a point to prove. Thanks to my team as well to give me the confidence to play with freedom. After last year, I went back to the drawing room after. It was always hard work. I gave it my all, with hard work there's always reward. Coming into this team there was this opportunity to bat early. I want to show that I am a batsman. It's good for me how it's going along. (On Dwayne Bravo) He's a cool guys, there's a lot of support for me. He gave more confidence to execute. I am someone who prays a lot, I make it my duty to pray a lot, without God nothing is possible.

Norm 2021-08-29 22:36:49

In reply to doosra

Guyana cricket management knows nothing about managing talent. They screwed up Sherfane, Motie, Hety and others. Sherfane was one of the worst cases because it involved personal animosity against an individual player, by people in an illegal administration.

Narper 2021-08-29 22:36:54

In reply to doosra

all i see is fear and that is affecting the decision making

His fear of failure is greater than his desire to win...

hiding down the order tells me he is not confident after he started the duck farm this year.....a young batsman in his prime should rush to be out there....not hide at #7 as in the last match....an dthe one before

Narper 2021-08-29 22:39:46

Nicholas Pooran:
I thought 166 was a good total, we fell short by 10-15 runs. St Kitts bowled really well at the back end. We just had to stick to our plans, we gave some freebies to their batsmen. We didn't execute as a team today. We were a bit stubborn as a bowling team. They both (Hafeez and Hetmyer) batted exceptionally. I am really happy the way they batted. We can learn from them as well. Hopefully fielding gets better, can't blame the guys too much.

Narper 2021-08-29 22:40:13

Dwayne Bravo:
It's a great feeling to play in front of the fans. Good to see them back in the stadium, good for us as players. At the halfway stage we were the happier team. The way our bowlers pulled it back, it was encouraging. Drakes has been outstanding for us. I am trying to guide them (youngsters), they have the talent. It's just about guidance, giving them opportunities. We can't afford to lose him (Rutherford), he told me he wanted to bat at five at the start of the tournament.

doosra 2021-08-29 22:44:05

In reply to Narper

i hope someone speak to him

unfortunately it will not be his buddies Pollard and Bravo now because they are competing...

Doull, Bishop, all the commies talking about it

he is among the best in the region, he should be desperate to show that

he has time left in the tournament, maybe he will adjust
