Simmons gawn
2.6
Riaz to Simmons, out Lbw!! Riaz has made the first breakthrough. This time it is given as LBW. Swung back in from a fuller length and Simmons wasn't expecting that. Was sitting on the back foot, probably thinking about the short ball, instead this decks back and strikes him on the shuffle. Impact was marginal and the umpire reckons it was going on to hit. Simmons tried to bring his bat down late to prevent it from crashing into the pad, but couldn't do so.

Simmons lbw b Riaz 11(13) [4s-2]

sgtdjones 2021-08-31 14:23:25

9.58am: The Kings fielders in a huddle before getting onto the field, where Samit Patel is given his cap. Lendl Simmons and Tion Webster Sunil Narine to open for Knight Riders. Wahab will open the bowling. One slip.

Aj : "Still no Obed, they said he had shin spilts resulting in him missing the Pakistan series and the ending of the Aus one, I hope it's not reoccurred "

Hiren : "Which 3 teams of cpl are owned by ipl teams' owners?" - it's these two (Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings) alongwith Barbados Royals (Rajasthan Royals). Owned or co-owned by IPL franchises.

James: "Are TKR missing players this season? Their line up on paper looks well below their usual standards?" - well they've lost Dwayne Bravo to the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots, so that's left a bit of a hole. They're still a formidable side though.

Ramsy: "Faf vs Pollard it's Look Like CSK vs MI" - Quite!

sgtdjones 2021-08-31 14:34:37

Rakib: "Someone please tell Narine that he has players named Pollard and Seifert in his team at 5 " - it's been a bit of an odd innings from Narine for sure. He's tried the big shots, but not enough have come off.

Deyal to Webster, FOUR runs
He's clanked that over the bowler's head and into the straight boundary. Went back and wanted to pull it through deep midwicket but gets it lower on the bat. Hit hard enough that it clears the bowler and goes straight

END OF OVER 8 6 runs TKR: 51/1

That was almost a knuckle ball from Deyal, the last one of the previous over. Really took off on landing. Here's Kesrick Williams now.

Chase to Webster, OUT
Caught at deep midwicket. Tim David runs to his left and holds on. Chase bowled this fuller, but kept it wider outside off. Webster goes for the slog-sweep, connects decently too, but he's not reckond with David's fleetness of foot.

11.5
Kesrick Williams to Munro, out Caught by Riaz!! We've seen bowlers work a batter a out in Tests, but Kesrick Williams has troubled Munro throughout this over and eventually has him caught at short third man. Munro was always staying leg-side to access the off-side, Kesrick Williams's natural angle across the left-hander made life difficult too. Munro plays an ugly push away from the body at this slower ball. Bit of bounce on it takes a thick edge and Riaz dives to his right to take an important catch.

Munro c Riaz b Kesrick Williams 1(4)

Cornwall and Andre Fletcher are at the crease.

Cornwall is on strike.

Jayden Seales will open the attack

armchair 2021-08-31 16:08:53

Watching Cornwall sprint 1's and 2's is both funny and a bit sad as a West indies fan

sgtdjones 2021-08-31 16:12:17

Pollard's got his team in a huddle, before they troop on. Jayden Seales will bowl the first over. Rahkeem Cornwall and Andre Fletcher the openers.

Jerome: "Wahab Riaz has to rank as one of the most unpredictable and fun to watch fast bowlers in the T20 circuit! He's either excellent or appalling, nothing in-between."

Varshith : "This has been a poor last 3 overs by The Saint Lucia Kings... They will be really disappointed with the way they bowled in slog overs despite the 3 wickets in last over.159 on this pitch will need a special effort.Take it from me "

11.55am: Thanks Hemant. Slobberknocker of a finish by Pollard and Seifert. TKR were 81 for 4 in 14 overs. They made 77 for 3 in the last 6 overs.

The ball was travelling and had to react.

Narper 2021-08-31 17:46:14

PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Kieron Pollard

Very pleased. Happy Independance day. Sometimes you have to take the initiative, I knew if I came up, they will bring back their main bowlers. It's about capitalising on those things. He's confident after a 16-ball 40 in the last game [on Tim Seifert] was good to bat with him, that partnership with him provided the momentum and Ramdin at the end finished it off with a six. We wanted to give us some time in the middle. I knew if I was there at the back end I could capitalize with a couple of sixes. We knew they were going to come hard at the powerplay and once we managed that, it was always going to be difficult in the end.

Narper 2021-08-31 17:51:28

Faf du Plessis: We lost it with the ball at the end. 20 too much on that wicket. It's not easy batting, especially against the spinners. Polly hung in there and he got the bowling at the end to capitalize. We were looking for a similar blueprint. They also showed us how to execute better at the end with the ball. Great character from Williams with the ball.
