Jamaican songbird Karen Smith has died, ending her one-year battle with colon cancer.
She passed away approximately 3:30 a.m today at the Baywest Hospital in Montego Bay, St James, where she was admitted on Tuesday.
Smith was a former president of the Jamaica Federation of Musicians and Affiliates Union.
She was also a member of the group 'Pakage' which also comprised Patricia Edwards and Gem Myers.
Her husband also died of cancer a few years ago.

No not Melrose - Rose, Omar's wife.
Melrose's ex (Ray) died earlier this year.
Howard Hamilton also died overnight.
People dropping like flies in these parts.

Melrose is dear to me.
We went to her son's wedding in Savannah Georgia back in 2003.

RIP ! Her mom was a Bio teacher at Jamaica School of Agriculture,while she was a high school student at St Hughes, later ran into her at a party in Montreal ,think she was at Sir George then, very nice people.
