That is a terrible indictment on Hunte, Hilaire, Cameron and Gibson who all said eleven yrs. ago 'CONSISTENT WITH THE POLICY TO EXPOSE YOUTH, GAYLE, SARWAN AND CHANDERPAUL WERE NOT SELECTED.' The only 'youths' who came through did so by natural evolution. That REGIME destroyed what little was left of WI cricket; especially tests and ODI

Your friend Roger holds only one vote on this selection panel but as you know, the current setup makes his vote worthless unless it is to break a tie. There must be a restructuring of the selection process otherwise this travesty will continue in the years ahead.
The following players should have been in the original fifteen: Hemraj, Rutherford, Odean Smith, Jason Holder, Romario Sheppard. No brainer this one. Now on to the rest of the story.
Mentor: Gayle.
Reserves: Cottrell, Fletcher, Lil B, Motie.
Out due to medical reasons: Rampaul, McCoy.
Unwarranted selection: Oshane.
It is very hard to pinpoint why the level of stupidity among the people running WI cricket is so high.

Shepherd will strugglevat international level. He went for over 100 runs in ten overs vs the red force this year.
Holder is the only person whobshould have been on the team.
Rutherford had a good CPL but he is untested. Ravi earned his spot by being the leading wicket taker in the tournament.
The current team has experience. We went with untested, inexperienced boy scouts for two of the last three World cups( 2015, 2016 and 2019) and were battered badly in two of them.

David Warner debuted against New Zealand in Brisbane in 2011 and already has two centuries from four Tests. He described the Perth 'wackathon’ as not like Test cricket, but something else as he clouted Vinay Kumar & Co with some slog shots on his way to a thunderous 180. His 123 not out on debut against New Zealand was more 'classical’, scored in tougher conditions against a better bowling attack. How did the man widely regarded to be a Twenty20 specialist succeed as a Test opener?
This is exactly why we were upset when typically, visionless, tribal west indians pigeonholed Pollard and Simmons as whiteball cricketers....and pushed grossly inferior talents to the fore.
And yes, shepherd went for 108 runs in 10 overs. He got that beating because he got picked for the SL series for virtually doing nothing
