For this team only consider players who actually played t20s. I think that this is actually harder to make than a test or odi xi partly because it is a fairly new format and because there have been some really good t20 players over the last decade.
Openers
1. C Gayle - No one will dispute this. Gayle should be the first name that comes to mind when thinking of t20s. His partner in crime is a lot tougher. Charles, Smith, fletcher and Lewis have all done good at times. But at this moment I will go with
2. L Simmons - I do expect that within 5-10 years to replace him with Lewis
Middle Order
The middle order will be packed with all rounders.
3. Dwayne Bravo - probably the second name you write in an all time t20 xi.
4. Pollard - one of the most feared batsman around the globe. Without looking up stats I know his international record pales in comparison to his club record
5. Russell - when going the only player more dangerous than pollard and Gayle. Have not done it consistently for long enough but I cant argue against him
6. Marlon Samuels - he won us 2 trophies. Useful spin.
7. Dwayne Smith - out of the unchosen openers he is best suited for coming in at anytime in the innings
Wicket keeper
8. Pooran - no real stiff competition. Fletcher a possible choice if Opening. Randin brings stability. But really and truly who will choose them over Pooran
Bowlers
Only 3 frontline bowlers as we have enough allrounders to bowl the remaining 8 overs.
9. Sunil Narine - I will ignore all the accusations of pelting. Facts remain ball in his hand the most dangerous t20 bowler we have
10. Badree - the most economical opening bowler
11. Rampaul - this last cpl for me puts him above Fidel or Taylor. The only other bowler I wouldve picked in front of Ravi is Santokie
Good batting available from 1-9. 8 good bowling options with the next 2 (smith and Simmons) able to turn their hands over if needed. I cant see any other combination of players from West Indies or elsewhere beating this team in a 5 match series

WI all time t20 xi
Sammy

I love Sammy. And at his peak was an all rounder worthy of a look. But who do you replace in my xi for Sammy?

Chase
In reply to Raisedseam
He had a great cpl 2021 but is that enough to make an all time xi?
In reply to Jabari18
You really believe that was a serious comment from raisedseam?
In reply to Jabari18
Lewis over Simmons and Narine should not be considered for anything outside of IPL.
In reply to Jabari18
I think Sammy and Ramdin should be in the squad. Pooran is very good but he has not won any titles. Both Ramdin and Sammy(who was captain for both triumphs ) were essential parts of those sides

I aint know him good enough to assume he kicksin
In reply to camos
Who will you replace Narine with? For me Narine has done it at the club and international level better than most

Who will u drop fit for Sammy?
it could only be Sammy for Dwayne Smith but I think that Smith deserves your pick above Sammy. I like your all time XI but would agree Ramdin before Pooran based on all time performance. I agree that Narine must be in the team if we are talking about a WI All time T20 XI. What about four reserves?
In reply to VoopsandOut
Sammy for Smith is a decent option. I think Ill stick with smith but wouldnt argue against a 2 time winning captain.
I didnt consider reserves. Lets see who Ill choose
Evin
Sammy
Fletcher
Taylor

West Indies was never able to get the best out of Smith..

Its tricky. Sammy's peak in the T20 WC was at the 2014 edition, where he did pretty well. Dwayne Smith admittedly had not really had as many chances as Sammy. But his only innings of note in the entire tournament is 72 versus Bamgladesh in the 2014 edition. Sammy, not only provided leadership but also played some handy innings in 2012 and 2014.
Sammy in an all time XI for what exactly?
Intangibles?
He could definitely merit it on fielding
So if was an all time WI T20I fielding XI
..Sammy would be there. No issue
But otherwise?
He HID as a bowler and wasnt effective when he did bowl
He did even worse with the bat
He was a failure in IPL. He didnt fare any better in any other T20 franchise cricket, including CPL
So exactly on what basis does he make an all time XI?
In reply to hotarobin
I would agree with that. Mumbai Indians were able though
In reply to Jabari18
You got to remember the name!
In reply to Drapsey
Jabari forgot to remember the name
the NAME can make the reserves. He let himself down badly as captain after the Over that will remain in history.
I will always remember Carlos for that.......but he mek he name forgettable after
In reply to imusic
